Thanks Mr. Fine Wine. Always a great show. Been doing grouting project this afternoon and now into the evening. While doing it I was looking forward to around this time when I would be about done and hearing your show. Kept wfmu on the whole time, as usual, except for shut up weirdo. I tuned into the GTDR stream during that time.

"After the Laughter (approx 0:43:00) is on Checker, so this means that Chicago looked at the Wendy Rene Stax record (1964) and said it was a good song. But it (1967) is different. It feels a bit like a mid tempo ballad like "Turn Back the Hands of Time." A literate stealing, if you will. Title first, then they will come. It's also slightly Philly.

"If This Is Love" (0:41:54) thanks for this. I've had it on a mix tape for 20 years anyways, didn't know what it was. Ooops. It's a vocal/over an earlier Precisions track which was done in Toronto??? http://www.soul-source.co.uk/soulforum/topic/137295-eddie-spencer-if-this-is-love-arc/

This episode was my entry into your wonderful world when it aired. I thought I'd really better come back and thank you for it, as I've been catching up through the archives. What a great show! I'm amazed by the consistency and quality of your selections. I've championed your show to all who will listen. Thank you again! "Be Bop Wino" is a revelation! The matter of factness with which The Lamplighters belt out the song's subject is a real window into a different way of living: "Just a be bop wino, wino..."--nothing remarkable about there being a be-bop wino or in his winding up in jail. That's where all the be-bop wino wind up, of course...
