Sun. 9/2/12 7:16pm Cold Sesame Noodles:

Betty was a notorious hard-ass on her band. A real pill. I love hearing her pull off these totally sublime swinging moments knowing that in the back of her mind, she's probably fuming about something or other. What a talent!
Avatar    Sun. 9/2/12 7:19pm monica:

Cold Ses Noo - the proof is in the puddin'! she probably had to work harder to be taken seriously by the fellas. just heard this track track today and loves it.

This Junior Wells is killer! I don't know if he ripped off Slim Harpo's "Buzzin" or vice-versa, nor do I much care.

caribou belenciaga - well, there goes the neighborhood...
  Sun. 9/2/12 8:15pm Lumpy:

Ridgewood Queens here too. It's okay in Ridgewood (L train, affordable) but a little boring. You are correct that Sunnyside is a prime spot for dog owners -- Woodside too. It's very nice over there -- I could see living there myself. Woodside apartments are a little small for the money. The 7 train is great (cuts across Manhattan similar to the L and connects all over the place) but when it's not running because of track work, that would be rough. Also, it's nice to be near the 7 (but not too near - it's loud within a block or so). Basically, Queens is not considered cool by the college kids, so it's relatively affordable. I'm only a few blocks over the border in Ridgewood and I can tell you that borders like this are pretty arbitrary, while quality of life and affordability issues are not. I like Jackson Heights too, but a lot more density than Woodside/Sunnyside. In Brooklyn, maybe try Prospect/Lefferts gardens.
Avatar    Sun. 9/2/12 8:20pm monica:

Lumpy, thanks so much for breakin' it down. Absolutely NO need for cool college kids or their older ilk. Give me amenities and an easy commute and closets!!!!
  Sun. 9/2/12 8:21pm dale:

monica - queens? queens - monica? i dunno if butter will dig the low rise life. and won't the guys at the gas station/quickmart across the avenue miss her?
Avatar    Sun. 9/2/12 8:26pm monica:

  Sun. 9/2/12 8:34pm dale:

  Sun. 9/2/12 8:35pm Doug S.:

I really love that Dick El Demasiado stuff. I was chuffed to rip copies of both of the discs in FMU library when I breezed through town in July.
Avatar    Sun. 9/2/12 8:36pm monica:

Avatar    Sun. 9/2/12 8:38pm monica:

Doug S.! wow! this one just landed this week, very cool stuff indeed....
  Sun. 9/2/12 8:40pm Fiveash:

You know, just yesterday I was on hold with a credit card company and the hold music was a lame version of "Ain't We Got Fun". You haven't experienced true humiliation until you're on hold with a credit card company that's giving you the runaround while someone sings "The rich get richer and the poor get poorer" in your ear! Anyway, thanks Mo, this version helps in my recovery from that trauma...
  Sun. 9/2/12 8:40pm Chris T.:

And it's a place with a great song: "Keep on the Sunnyside, always on the Sunnyside..." Listening in the 'hawk (Weehawken, NJ).
  Sun. 9/2/12 8:41pm listener gary:

hola. d j monica ...You know, I always meant to tell you this ...you may play margaret whiting any time you wish. (DO NOT move to queens.)
best...
  Sun. 9/2/12 8:41pm Doug S.:
