Listener comments!

  12:13pm
duke:

Hi Duane. I was worried Ken had scared all the DJs away.
  12:14pm
Duane:

No..just commenters apparently..HAHA! Happy 4th or whatever..
  12:18pm
kat330:

Hi, Duane! Many listeners probably in same position of listening but using fingers for lunch/dinner. Love the Joni cover.
  12:22pm
Duane:

Hi Kat330: Or marinading. Nice to hear from you:)
  12:24pm
kat330:

Yes, been a while. I wish there were not the Duane/Amanda time conflict and had been hoping something might change that in the summer schedule, but... I DO try to get to archives, but simply isn't the time. I may flip back and forth, but it doesn't mean I don't love you both equally! :)
  12:27pm
Duane:

I know Kat:)
  12:49pm
kat330:

Still enjoyin' and still groovin', Duane. Now I've served our lunch though, so fingers preoccupied again.
  12:53pm
Duane:

awesome kat! Doing anything fun today?
  1:00pm
Patrick:

hey duane, loving the tunes so far! happy summer
  1:03pm
Duane:

Thanx Patrick! Enjoy the holiday
  1:05pm
kat330:

OK, fingers mostly unoccupied. Going to grill and all, but too hot and stagnant for any other outdoor activities. Our weather loss is FMU's listener gain.
  1:05pm
Lee:

This show went from Chelsea Morning to some dope house club at midnight in no time. So good..
  1:06pm
efd:

Sounding great on a hot summer afternoon, Duane! This is probably the tackiest thing I've ever done (in the context of WFMU, at least), but if you have a chance at some point to mention my Disco Indepen-dance Party tonight (there's a blurb on the clipboard and the upcoming page) that would be awesome! No pressure though, I don't want to disrupt the flow!
  1:07pm
efd:

also, +1 to Lee's comment above.
  1:08pm
Duane:

plannin on doin it next mic break efd:) Thanx for the kudos as usual bruh!
  1:11pm
efd:

Thank YOU for treating me (and my neighbors) to some sweet holiday sounds! Going back outside now. :)
  1:12pm
Rontronik:

BOOM
  1:13pm
Duane:

Rontronik: Whats up?? Black Goth, Black Goth, Black Goth!
  1:13pm
Andrea on the M62:

Oh wow this set's effin ace! Thank you so much!
  1:15pm
kat330:

When it comes to "commenter appreciation," realize that most of your usuals aren't around because they only listen while being paid for doing something else at their jobs. We (hubbie, who's home today) and I only listen and comment during our own free time. I realize DJ's are glad to get whomever and however, but listening on a holiday, hey, that's loyalty bro's! :)
  1:16pm
Rontronik:

and frank ocean is bisexual
  1:17pm
kat330:

Hopefully, she was protecting her daughter, Duane.
  1:23pm
kat330:

Do a right-wing rant like Ken did! :)

Heh, thanks, Duane! :>
  1:23pm
david from ks.:

,,,true men dont kill coyotes,,,
  1:24pm
Ike:

Weekday DJs get a whole different audience on holidays like this, but that audience doesn't comment nearly as much. A lot of them are probably normally weekend listeners, plus FM listeners here in north Jersey.
  1:24pm
Duane:

kat330: Oh Katie Holmes is channeling a Sally Fields "Not without my daughter" type escape. Thank God..I've had to work with Scientologists..and that shit is creeeepeee!
  1:26pm
kat330:

I worked on H-wood Blvd. near Highland, and you couldn't spit without hitting a Scientologist. I don't understand why they're not bothered about the whole reason Hubbard "founded" the "religion"? Blows my mind anybody being so gullible.
  1:27pm
kat330:

@Ike: All I'm saying is if I were getting paid during my FMU listening time, not only would I be better able to donate to support the station, but I'd also feel a whole lot more obligated to do so. Paid to play comes with extra responsibility. ;)
  1:32pm
efd:

Thanks so much, Duane. My face is red, and I don't think it's from the heat. Loving this Klique record!
  1:33pm
Duane:

HAhaha! No prob EFD..I'll be tuning in..I have a slight appreciation for the Disco :)
  1:35pm
kat330:

Just read in the paper we will have heat indices as high as 110 the next four days along w/ really poor air quality -- so now it's a nix on the grilling. :( Glad we have some cool sounds at least!
  1:38pm
kat330:

What's the frequency, Kenneth!
  1:38pm
Ike:

Oh wow, it's Dan Rather!

Hmm, someone nearby is burning roast peanuts.
  1:38pm
Droll:

kat, Funny you would measure distance to Scientologists by spitting, and not, say, dead cat swinging.
And what's more 'Merican than working hard on a holiday? I'm working (as long as I can stand not enjoying this sunny 61F Independence Day. Maybe I'll catch Irwin's show on my phone.)
  1:43pm
kat330:

@Droll: Spitting was the first thing to come to mind. Maybe you work for yourself? You misread if you think I was saying people shouldn't work on a holiday. I'm self-employed, which means when I'm not working -- or listening instead of working -- no moolah. Lots of jobs I've had in the past required working on holidays and weekends, so I know all about that. :)
  1:46pm
Andrea on the M62:

Think a move to the states might be on the cards purely because the uk has been and will be under a raincloud for weeks. Freeezing
  1:48pm
kat330:

No, Andrea, trust me. You wouldn't want this for more than a day or two tops. It's been weeks now. We had to go to Florida to cool down.
  1:54pm
Andrea on the M62:

Oh yes i do!
  1:55pm
kat330:

Are you happy about the Olympics? Will the rain have moved out by then?
  1:57pm
seang:

had a couple of beers and ready to join the party!! Somerville, MA tuning in.......move to the Northeast Andrea--we got distinct seasons heah
  1:58pm
Droll:

Kat, Indeed, I'm also self employed, making FMU DJ's and commenters my co-workers, so I'm motivated to work 24x7, even holidays! Still, none of you can go out for lunch or coffee or beer with me but all the locals seem to have the day off, and it really is sunny and 61F here in Seattle, so we have limited time together today.
  2:00pm
kat330:

Somerset, seang?? I lived a couple of years near Porter Square in Cambridge (Arlington St.) and often biked over to Somerset.
  2:01pm
kat330:

With weather like that, no wonder you're working and are so Droll! :)
  2:02pm
kat330:

OOops. I meant SomerVILLE, not set. Guess this screwdriver next to me is taking effect. :}
  2:04pm
seang:

That's the place, baby-Union Square-- a hop, skip, and a joint away from Porter Square
  2:06pm
Duane:

Andrea: My UK family has been bummed to the max about the weather you guys have been getting. It's not like you guys need any more excuses to drink and stay indoors..haha!
  2:07pm
kat330:

There was some bar/joint in Somerville that also did live theater. Went there quite a bit. That was so many years ago though.
  2:09pm
Nathan:

@Duane We really come into our own when we can drink outdoors though! Which thankfully we can do legally 99% of the time. Unlike California where you can get arrested for having a beer on your front porch.
  2:10pm
kat330:

Prince, yes!
  2:11pm
Duane:

Nathan: I know you do! That's what i love the most whenever i cross the pond
  2:12pm
Droll:

Kat, Believe me, we pay for it the other 9 months of the year.

Never heard this Prince tune before -- there must be 90 albums worth of material this good in his vault... I guess he's waiting to get paid before we hear it. Fair enough, he's worth it.
  2:14pm
kat330:

Followed by the prettiest tune just about ever.
  2:19pm
seang:

hell YES!
  2:20pm
kat330:

Awwww....ahhhhhh....My Dark Horse....
  2:21pm
seang:

i love that Cloud Nine album too
  2:21pm
M:

Oh Duane
What a gorgeous set!

Love from KUSF IN EXILE
  2:23pm
Duane:

Thank you M! Happy 4th! Love to KUSF!
  2:24pm
Droll:

Seang, I agree about Cloud Nine, the Lynne produced album is sadly underrated and forgotten. The video for Fab is still a trip.
  2:27pm
seang:

Not forgotten by us!--I have a good friend in Seattle--Dennis Boothroyd--good kid-photographer
  2:29pm
kat330:

My fave, too, Duane! Always had to back the dark horse.
  2:31pm
oba:

My Sweet BATLORD
  2:32pm
Rontronik:

automatically sunshine IS on iTunes USA!
  2:33pm
oba:

Automatic Sunshine for the People
  2:34pm
Duane:

Rontronik: Oh wow! That musta happened recently, cuz i tried to find it there once. GO grab that tune everyone! It'll make your day
  2:36pm
efd:

above and beyond, sir. Thanks again.
  2:45pm
rob t.:

these remakes aren't very interesting, im afraid.
  2:47pm
kat330:

I <3 this one better than the previous.
  2:49pm
seang:

G Chord
  2:51pm
kat330:

G Chord & Liddy?
  2:51pm
Duane:

senag: Yeah that's what makes this particular rework cool. Pretty much stripped the song of 80% of it's FM AOR slickness
  2:51pm
Rontronik:

automatically sunshine can be found on supremes anthology (2000), the jean terrel years and an alternate version is available too on the 70s anthology . for those interested (like me)
  2:54pm
seang:

yeah, I was getting into that--thanks for the tunes DJ Duane
  2:56pm
kat330:

Echoing that, it was good to be back in the saddle here, Duane! Go 4th, festively but safely all!
  2:56pm
Ike:

Love this EMU!
  2:58pm
Miss Amanda:

Well I thoroughly enjoyed this show. Thanks!
