Holly: Naked, bathtub, ice (and radio). Repeat.
  Wed. 6/20/12 9:18pm 12539:

Don't let that radio fall in the tub!
  Wed. 6/20/12 9:19pm john:

We're in LA (where, incidentally, it's quite temperate), and in a curious reversal, can comment but not at liberty to listen...welcome back and knock 'em dead, figuratively speaking!
Avatar Wed. 6/20/12 9:19pm efd:

Ah, that's more like it! hey Julie, john, and Holly!

Stand by, everybody, for the dramatic reveal of the new playlist colors!
  Wed. 6/20/12 9:20pm miss cheri:

@Julie - no tub, but naked, shower, naked, ice, radio, repeat for sure!
  Wed. 6/20/12 9:20pm steve:

Avatar Wed. 6/20/12 9:22pm Julie:

There's nothing better than a nice cold shower after a yucky hot day
  Wed. 6/20/12 9:22pm Beer:

Wanna bet?
Wed. 6/20/12 9:23pm Holly in NC:

Evan, did you have fun with Ruckus? He kindly gifted me tix to his & Bootsy's show, not realizing our geographic non-propinquity. Hopefully some other lucky person got to enjoy.
  Wed. 6/20/12 9:25pm miss cheri:

how's it going julie & holly??
Avatar Wed. 6/20/12 9:26pm efd:

Evan "I'm not really what you'd call a "record collector"" Davies
  Wed. 6/20/12 9:41pm glenn:

thanks for properly calling it vacation, not "vacay".
  Wed. 6/20/12 9:42pm flashback:

50 pounds of records is a lot
Avatar Wed. 6/20/12 9:43pm efd:

glenn, I am not a fan of the word "vacay." Not at all.

Joe D., I'm a record buyer, not a record collector.
  Wed. 6/20/12 9:44pm glenn:

i'm not sure which is stupider, vacay or convo.
  Wed. 6/20/12 9:45pm miss cheri:

evan sorry for using that "vacay" word..
  Wed. 6/20/12 9:47pm Joe D.:

Fair enough! Fair enough. That's an important distinction to make, says the guy who spent all last week's discretionary funds on the first 3 DK records and The Frogs "It's Only Right and Natural"
  Wed. 6/20/12 9:49pm miss cheri:

well i'll be back later tonight,,evan see ya
  Wed. 6/20/12 9:49pm PB:

I still spend a large percentage of my discretionary income on music (and have been doing so for about 45 years). Absolutely nothing I'd rather spend my money on.
  Wed. 6/20/12 9:50pm Beer:

Uh, discretionary income? Obviously you're not planning properly.
  Wed. 6/20/12 9:51pm steve:

is it bad that i don't know what discretionary funds are?
  Wed. 6/20/12 9:52pm steve:

im gonna say yes
  Wed. 6/20/12 9:53pm PB:

Fancy way of saying "spending money". Studied too much economics in college.
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:01pm miss cheri:

evan i'm digging your funky show tonight!!!
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:03pm nixxon:

eek, this is amazing!
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:03pm nixxon:

er, was. talk about bad timing...
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:05pm steve:

cat rescuers are the best!
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:06pm SteveL:

Just got dark here in the great Midwest. Kinda throws off the internal efd clock.
Avatar Wed. 6/20/12 10:09pm efd:

Well at least it's not going to stay light any later than it did tonight!
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:09pm Joe D.:

fyi the Solstice will be at -exactly- 11:09. Feels important to say, for some reason.
Wed. 6/20/12 10:09pm Holly in NC:

@Glenn: I'll see your mushroom breasts, and raise you mushroom ...orifices! http://youtu.be/789he-8T_-E NOT a joke, station has apologized for reporter's naivety.

Cat rescuers rule.
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:11pm SteveL:

Not sure I want to see anyone's mushroom breasts, although, as a man, I probably do.
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:11pm steve:

lol, thanks Holly
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:16pm SteveL:

My first hearing of OFF was on the Primavera-cast. Pretty impressive, ESPECIALLY for an old guy. The edge has not dulled.
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:16pm miss cheri:

who here doesn't love evan's show more than i!!!!
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:18pm Joe D.:

Dannnniel Pewjol everybody!

Cheri I haven't not NOT loved Evan's show since before AFTER it was cool
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:18pm nixxon:

I don't not love the show less than you, if that helps...
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:20pm steve:

unfortunately... my thoughts exactly
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:20pm SteveL:

Holly: That was a delightfully disturbing link. Wonder how many times the reporter washed her hands after learning the truth?
Wed. 6/20/12 10:21pm some other guy:

you can totally just call it "four".
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:22pm Barkevious Shabazz:

You can just call yrself "me."
Wed. 6/20/12 10:23pm Holly in NC:

@SteveL - That poor young woman, I really do feel for her. A gazillion?
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:27pm Droll:

Isn't the real mystery in that video how the "meaty object" ended up 80m (262 ft) underground? I still think there's a story there.
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:28pm miss cheri:

ugggggghhhh summers here,,who hates summer besides me?? evan? holly?? do you hate summer??
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:28pm hellosmith:

yo I hate it too a little bit
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:29pm steve:

i used to despise summer, now that i have a/c and work from home its pretty nice
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:31pm steve:

you know what i do hate though? pants. these things are driving me nuts.
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:31pm Jered Weaver:

I don't know about this new PIL record, dude.
Wed. 6/20/12 10:32pm Holly in NC:

@Droll - true. Horny miner?

New Nice Face was lovely.

I miss John L's younger voice, but nothing to be done about that. Oddly murky production though!
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:33pm SteveL:

Pants? Never wear 'em. Could explain a lot.
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:33pm PB:

Always loved the Sex Pistols but never "got" PIL.
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:34pm Joe D.:

that PiL song was actually surprisingly good

RIYL: supporting the lifestyle John Lydon has become accustomed to
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:35pm miss cheri:

evan & holly?? are you with me?? do you hate summer also??
Avatar Wed. 6/20/12 10:37pm efd:

I'm not going to waste my time hating something I have no control over.
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:37pm Droll:

Holly, I've heard about half that album and also though his voice showed his senior stature in the industry. I'll stick to the PiL albums I already have.
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:37pm steve:

Droll, that is a great question about the 'object'.

so that vid just made it to youtube yesterday? lets all hope there's a follow up.
Wed. 6/20/12 10:38pm Holly in NC:

@PB - you might be pleasantly surprised if you ever choose to revisit metalbox/second edition.
@Cheri, you KNOW I HATE summer more than anything. So now I'm going to try & think of something more pleasant, like the Fat Boys.
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:40pm SteveL:

Time to vote for best band name:
Horny Miner
Meaty Object.

Begin now.
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:40pm PB:

Holly, I actually own Second Edition. Based on your recommendation. I'll give it another shot. Haven't listened to it in years. This old school rap is real summer music.
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:42pm Joe D.:

it sure is, Mitt
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:43pm Kendall!:

I thought Philly Boy Roy was joking when he said Romney was calling it Wawa's. I'm so very disappointed.

BY THE WAY

Finally got a Wawa's up in North Jersey. At the end of 280 in Parsippany.
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:44pm Joe D.:

you mean the BEGINNING of 280
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:44pm Barkevious Shabazz:

Roy Zeigler knows how to say WaWa ya dope.
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:44pm SteveL:

Life is amazing when you're Mitt.
Wed. 6/20/12 10:45pm Holly in NC:

Horny Miner's Meaty Object?
Perhaps too reminiscent of Atiel Pink's whatever

Evan, I love you
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:45pm hellosmith:

mittens romney
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:45pm Kendall!:

From my perspective it's the END of 280 and that's what it will always be in my head.
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:46pm Skirkie:

The Parsippany Wawa is a 40 mile round trip from me.

...so I've only gone there a few times.
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:46pm Droll:

I hated summer so much I moved to Seattle where summer looks like this (I just took this photo from my patio)
http://rotang.com/seattle_efd.jpg
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:47pm Barkevious Shabazz:

I prefer "Les Wa."
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:48pm steve:

wow, seattle looks just like nyc, if you replace all the green with murky gray and brown
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:48pm Kendall!:

The Fat Boys - named for one of the rap group names tried in Chris Rock's movie CB4? Or vice versa?
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:49pm miss cheri:

well evan & holly i have to scoot now,, i'm very sorry evan but i'll be listening to the rest your show night evan & holly,, i also love you too, evan!!!
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:50pm sudo:

It's been ages since I read that, but I can envision it perfectly and am cracking up thinking about it. Hilarious.
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:51pm Barkevious Shabazz:

Recommended if you like rubber vaganus.
Wed. 6/20/12 10:51pm Holly in NC:

@Droll, that is stunning.
You are VERY fortunate!

Here's what *I* look like right now: bit.ly/NatMZB (scroll to Ms. Ross)
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:51pm PB:

Speaking of the HoZac label, the Radar Eyes CD is great.
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:53pm miss cheri:

i have make sure i'm up for julie's show,,, so see you very soon evan & holly!!
Wed. 6/20/12 10:54pm Holly in NC:

???!!!! Holy grail!
Avatar Wed. 6/20/12 10:55pm efd:

There is a Wawa opening in Woodbridge this fall!

sudo, it pleases me no end that you got that Tintin reference!
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:56pm SteveL:

"Happy how do you do to you. and AWAAAAAYYYYYY!"

True radio superhero material.
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:56pm Droll:

Steve, You don't want to see this place the other 9 months of the year. Replace all the green with gray and wet.
Holly, Great Dokken look, but the glass full of octane is blocking your pearls.
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:57pm hellosmith:

i also love tintin. and i love what is coming through my speakers right now.
Wed. 6/20/12 10:57pm Holly in NC:

Not sure that's same intro...I think Harry sounds more perky introing "We Can Make It". Doesn't matter, totally cool.
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:57pm miss cheri:

evan & holly thnx so much for your company night all!!
  Wed. 6/20/12 10:58pm Joe B:

Sights return to WFMU July 3!
Wed. 6/20/12 10:59pm Holly in NC:

"You" can make it. I'm very inclusive ;-)
Wed. 6/20/12 11:00pm Holly in NC:

Do you know how much I LOVE this song??!!
Avatar Wed. 6/20/12 11:00pm efd:

Holly, we may have to do an A/B test!

Joe, thanks for the date! Knew they were coming up, wasn't sure when exactly.
Avatar Wed. 6/20/12 11:01pm efd:

btw you'd better have food for them! I spoiled them last time.
  Wed. 6/20/12 11:02pm Joe D.:

says here that You Can Make it was also featured on the 83 Pebbles box set... wonder if it has the same intro?

also Evan do you have any insight into how these In-Sound interviews were recorded? They're pretty obviously not phone interviews, but they're not obviously not in-studio taped live either.
Avatar Wed. 6/20/12 11:03pm efd:

Holly, that definitely sounded like the same "thank you for being with us!"
  Wed. 6/20/12 11:03pm miss cheri:

evan?? ty for having me tonight.
Wed. 6/20/12 11:03pm Holly in NC:

@efd - yes, for sure
Avatar Wed. 6/20/12 11:08pm efd:

thanks for listening, cheri.
Avatar Wed. 6/20/12 11:09pm efd:

Joe D., I haven't read anything but I'd guess that the bands being interviewed went into some nearby radio station or studio and were given questions to answer, then HH read back those questions and the answers were edited in.
Wed. 6/20/12 11:09pm Holly in NC:

Go Penelope!
  Wed. 6/20/12 11:10pm Barkevious Shabazz:

The American in me says "WaWas."
  Wed. 6/20/12 11:10pm SteveL:

Is there a CD reissue for The Avengers? Such a sharp band.
  Wed. 6/20/12 11:10pm Danne D:

Hi Funk Fans :)
Hi EFD :)

Um, let's go Dolphins?!?
  Wed. 6/20/12 11:17pm Danne D:

Hmm 6/30 would be a fun day to win a show for for me :)
  Wed. 6/20/12 11:18pm Danne D:

Happy Birthday Brother Davies :)
Wed. 6/20/12 11:19pm Holly in NC:

@SteveL -I have a CDPresents CD reissue of the Avengers, but, wow, it's really old. s/b easy to find online though!
  Wed. 6/20/12 11:27pm Danne D:

How's it going Holly?

Anyone else get a craving for Howard Johnson's tonight?
Avatar Wed. 6/20/12 11:28pm efd:

oh! Now I get the Dolphins reference.
Wed. 6/20/12 11:29pm Holly in NC:

1989 to be exact $17.74 at discogs, which seems pricey.

Oh heck! Water just reissued , $11.42 used @ Amazon & reissue is 2 discs - I need to upgrade!!!!
Wed. 6/20/12 11:32pm Holly in NC:

@Danne, you're making me choke again!
And yes, I would kill for some fried clams & ice cream.
When Adam Ant played the Milford CT jai alai fronton, he ate at the Milford HoJOs. That is all. I was there.
  Wed. 6/20/12 11:33pm Barkevious Shabazz:

Big fan of Kim Shattuck. These muffs, erm...
Wed. 6/20/12 11:33pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I see that sports artist LeRoy Neiman has passed away.
  Wed. 6/20/12 11:35pm Danne D:

@Ken :(
  Wed. 6/20/12 11:38pm Danne D:

I remember volunteering on the MS Bike Tour about a decade ago and the half-way point was at "Seasons" or "Legends" or whatever the hell they had renamed the old Playboy Club up in Sussex county. I remember that literally everything was vintage probably from the opening of the place. Carpenting on the walls. Paneling and Lattice everywhere. Burnt orange and other earth tones dominated. Stucco. And of course there still were the Leroy Neiman prints in the rooms as well :)
  Wed. 6/20/12 11:38pm Danne D:

I bet that even in 2012 it probably STILL looks the same in that place. Probably a great place for an EFD starting with the 70s meet-up if ever there was one :)

steve, credit must go to the Dark Entries label for digging that up and reissuing it, and to Brian Turner for putting it in the new bin where I found it!

It's bad form to clothesline an over-caffeinated child at a Starbucks, right?

(Don't worry I'm not really going to clothesline the kid - but seriously - these people wonder why the kids acting hyper at 11:48?...)

Avatar Wed. 6/20/12 11:54pm efd:

the name of the song isn't a secret; I only play the full song at marathon time, though.

Great show EFD! I myself was/is also a big fan of the 'Open Up Your Door' compilation, the Richard and The Young Lion tracks, and played them frequently on my radio show @ WBNY in Buffalo. Glad to hear the original Harry Harrison mix and the missing puzzle pieces!
