Listener comments!

  3:13pm
northguineahills:

I have half a lemon left over from making my burrito. What should I use it for?

(damn headhunter just changed my interview)
  3:14pm
emmagineering:

really liking this driving jon meuller beat...
  3:14pm
pierre:

Bonjour there !
Did you know that Anthony Hopkins is going to play the role Alfred Hitchcock in a movie about the making of Psycho ?
  3:15pm
emmagineering:

north guinea hills: A: a tee-tiny shot of lemonade!
  3:16pm
?:

whoa, just had to do a head check--I thought you said 'Anthony Perkins' was going to play Hitchcock in the movie about Psycho! The mind boggles . . .
  3:19pm
Anthony Perkins:

Mother told me I had to.
  3:19pm
pierre:

@? : i know it's not the end of confusion, one of the first one for me would be :

— how do you call a movie about a movie ? a Picpic ?…
  3:21pm
BSI:

Well it's better than a "flickpic" which sounds more like some sort of childish nasal maintenance.
  3:21pm
BSI:

That phrase "childish nasal maintenance" seems deeply funny now.
  3:22pm
BSI:

by the way: yo, pierre!
  3:23pm
pierre:

Bonjour BSI, glad to see you there!
How are you, my generous friend ?
  3:23pm
?:

I thought Childish Nasal Maintenance broke up in the 90's!?!
  3:25pm
northguineahills:

I know, I can make myself a cocktail w/ the lemon. Difficulty: I only have Irish whiskey right now.
  3:26pm
Looms:

trippy trippy trippy :)
  3:26pm
Cheri Pi:

http://www.cocktail-maker.com/
  3:29pm
pierre:

fun fact : i'm making a book about cocktail as we speak.
  3:30pm
Cheri Pi:

Fun! Give us a recipe of your favorite.
  3:31pm
northguineahills:

Thanks Cheri Pi, but after listing everything I have, I got this response, "... there are no cocktails on this system I can make."
  3:31pm
Marmalade Kitty:

Hola Fabio, all! @northguineahills: save it for the Tequila..?
  3:31pm
pierre:

by the way, i don't know if you're aware about french presidential elections but : help.
  3:33pm
northguineahills:

@ Marmalade Kitty: I might buy some tequila, but I'm a little bereft of funds right now... but tequila!
  3:33pm
pierre:

it'll be my pleasure CheriPi:

- 5 cl of gin
- 2 cl of sugar syrup
- Scrappy's chocolate bitter
- orange peel
- and an ice ball
  3:34pm
Cheri Pi:

Can no one on this board help northguineahills make a cocktail with these 2 ingredients?
  3:34pm
Looms:

@Pierre: cheval = 1/3 picon, 1/3 vin blanc, 1/3 bière, redoutable.
  3:34pm
northguineahills:

Good luck Pierre, at least your elections aren't as retarded as ours in the US. But yeah, WTH happened w/ the French elections?!!
  3:36pm
Marmalade Kitty:

It was so predictable of me to think of alcohol..! Happy thoughts though! ::)
  3:37pm
northguineahills:

I also have agave, honey, limes, avocados (a variable on cocktail-maker.com), and oranges. But my stomach can't take anything too sweet or acidic. I am going to buy some tequila w/in the hour (b/c of the suggestion), so there's that.

Thanks!
  3:37pm
pierre:

it's called a Monkey Old Fashion.

@ Looms : Picon and i, we are in love.

@ northguineahills : once again, the national front (right right right wing) was very high, so now the candidate/president is tighting is positions to grab some voices from the people who voted for the nationalists. Dangerous.
  3:37pm
Cheri Pi:

oh lala that sounds delicious Pierre! We have a local lady who is craft cocktail artist, making her own syrups & extracts by hand: http://a-linemagazine.com/articles/tag/molly_wellmann
  3:37pm
?:

@NGH: here's what you do. Pour the whiskey into a glass. Add an ice cube, or maybe two. Drink it. Use the lemon plus a little salt to clean your (wooden) cutting board.
  3:39pm
pierre:

so cool CheriPi
i'll post some pictures when the book will be finished.
  3:39pm
BSI:

ah, lovely Picon... THAT was the big discovery on recent Paris trip.
  3:41pm
northguineahills:

I do have a wooden cutting board. I have beer. I could make a michelada, but that calls for lime. I don't need to get too buzzed, I just want to utilize the other half of the lemon.

Ok, I want to get buzzed....
  3:42pm
?:

@ngh: if you have sugar, makes some whiskey lemonade

3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons whiskey
2 tablespoons simple syrup
Lemon zest
Ice
  3:43pm
northguineahills:

?:, I think we have a winner. Thank you!!!!
  3:47pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

I would like to be buzzed too. This must wait but a few more hours. The music helps.
  3:47pm
nyoukis:

Brast Burn, another classic unearthed and re-issued by His Bald Highness Clive Graham, all hail auld grumpy drawers!
  3:48pm
Marmalade Kitty:

folks are watching too much prime time tv =( brain washing, and then talking about it on facebook .. messing with reality
  3:48pm
pierre:

@BSI : next time i'm buying you one !
  3:50pm
BSI:

Deal!
  4:02pm
northguineahills:

?, you're a saint. This is a fuckin' awesome coctail. If you're ever in Brooklyn, I owe you a drink.

Thanks to everyone else for the suggestions.
  4:03pm
Marmalade Kitty:

It's 9pm uk.. time for Havana rum & orange with crushed ice and lime! o.O It tastes great, honest! the weather is grim outside, but the sun is shining in here! ;)
  4:04pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

yeah, I took tomorrow off and it's s'posed to be 46 degrees and cloudy. whoopee.
  4:04pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

ah, this distortion is just the thing...
  4:06pm
BSI:

Was never one for mixed drinks (aforementioned Picon biere exempt); A simple bitter or scotch (islay) would be lovely, thanks. Who delivers around here? Bartender!
  4:09pm
Surgeon:

Disemvoweling
  4:09pm
northguineahills:

I make awesome Micheladas (best hangover helpers), and the gf makes great watermelon/stawberry/jalapeno/ginger margaritas. If anyone's interested, I can throw a cocktail party, WFMU style.
  4:09pm
Chris from DC:

Occasional bourbon, occasionally in a mixed drink. Right now I'd settle for sneaking around the corner for a cold one.
  4:14pm
Patient:

Nice one, Surgeon! You're keeping me in stitches!
  4:14pm
Terry:

chat room?
  4:16pm
Mike East:

I'm interested ngh - but only after my wife is unpregnated...she would be quite jealous of such an affair. She loves a good margarita. :)
  4:18pm
BSI:

......so........thirsty......
  4:18pm
Mike East:

Glenn Branca was in a documentary I watched recently about record stores. He was the best part. So cool.
  4:19pm
BSI:

Branca's ensemble will be down here for Sonic Circuits fest in September. Never saw him/them/etc before, very psyched.
  4:21pm
nic:

great always loved this!!!!!!!
  4:21pm
Cheri Pi:

Oh Glenn Branca, I thought it was you!@
  4:22pm
Mike East:

They rehearsed here. Packed a 23'x36' room full of insanity.
  4:23pm
northguineahills:

Even though it'll be 6 years, we've already had the conversation that I shan't go on a sympathy pregnancy (no alcohol) as that would be cruel and unusual punishment for me. Phew, I got lucky.

I love this Branca piece. I already had it and found it on my fiance's Itunes in Mexico when we first met 4.5 years ago.
  4:24pm
Cheri Pi:

good looking out ngh ;)
  4:25pm
Mike East:

I'm laying off the wine, since that's her poison. I'm sticking to beers and scotch.
  4:25pm
northguineahills:

(homeade lemonade/whiskey coctail buzz achievement unlocked)
  4:26pm
Caryn:

Mm, Branca...
Finally got around to the mashed potatoes. Man, this tastes like crap.
  4:28pm
northguineahills:

Garlic, olive oil, sea salt, and chilis will make mash potatoes awesome. Of course, you need access to said ingredients. (I love mashing my own potatoes.)
  4:29pm
Carmichael:

Well, my worked exploded in the last hour or so, which means panicked typing and rumor control. I could use about 40 of those cocktails right now.
ngh, sorry to hear about your interview re-scheduling. Headhunters are, generally speaking, the uncaring dross of humanity.
  4:29pm
BSI:

Finally hitting the new Ethiopian place around the corner from BSI HQ, so... aint no cooking for this lazy bum.
  4:30pm
Caryn:

I'm saving my garlic for Saturday's pasta sauce. Liking Volcano the Bear.
  4:31pm
Cheri Pi:

You're so lucky! There is no Ethiopian place near CP/HQ :(
  4:32pm
Mike East:

I think we need to have a food drive for Caryn. No one should have to ration their garlic.
  4:32pm
Caryn:

And on an earlier note, Anthony Hopkins looks fantastic as Hitchcock. Now I just need to hear what he sounds like.
  4:34pm
Caryn:

Oh Mike, no worries. Next week, I can get food.
  4:36pm
Caryn:

Hopkins as Hitch: http://www.ifc.com/fix/2012/04/anthony-hopkins-alfred-hitchcock-photo
  4:41pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

that guitar reminds me of the Bubble Puppy riff...
  4:44pm
steve:

whiskey + fresh lemon juice ftw
  4:44pm
djinn:

The Negroni is awesome, I must admit.
  4:46pm
northguineahills:

Finally had my phone interview, just 3.25 hours late. Looks god. Thanks for the good wishes!
  4:46pm
northguineahills:

*god=good. Stupid keyboard.
  4:48pm
andymorphic:

branca!
  4:53pm
northguineahills:

@steve: I added a little agave w/ ice, and it was FTW! I was drinking it during my interview.
  4:53pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

that's why it looks god.
  4:55pm
steve:

holy moly, agave... thats brilliant ngh.
  4:56pm
Marmalade Kitty:

good god! kiss myself! huh!
  4:56pm
steve:

im working at home... maybe i should just start drinking
  4:57pm
Carmichael:

Off to another face-saving meeting. Hopefully I'll return before 3. Sounds amazing, Fabio!
  4:57pm
Informed Hipster is Informed:

Awesome show as always, Fabio. BTW, aoi means blue in japanese.
I would love to hear more tracks from this album. If you could take a moment to practice Ayuo "ah-you-oh" and Aoi "ah-oh-ee" (taking care not to say "owie"), you will do yourself and your listeners a measure of goodness and cultural sensitivity.
  4:59pm
Marmalade Kitty:

yeaooooOOOW!
  5:15pm
Caryn:

For everyone enjoying their drinks, today is apparently National Pretzel Day in the US, and lots of places are giving away free pretzels, so go get some salty snacks to go with your cocktails!
  5:16pm
northguineahills:

I saw Xela a few years back and got an excellent cassette from them. This is great Fabio!
  5:17pm
Chris from DC:

NGH, you can download the final Xela record, Exorcism, for free. I guess it's still up, anyway. Great stuff.
  5:18pm
northguineahills:

I need to drop some docs off at FedEx and get some gardening supplies, so I might drop by the bierhaus on the way back to see what the pretzel situation is like, Caryn. Thanks!
  5:19pm
Mr Donut:

Can anyone tell me what that honking instrument is?
  5:20pm
steve:

National Pretzel Day!! so cool... any places in NYC or Brooklyn celebrating?
  5:21pm
northguineahills:

Chris from DC, you kick ass, found it online. Arigato gasaimasu-te.
  5:22pm
northguineahills:

I can only think of the bier halle or that new place near Meeker, or Spritzenhaus.
  5:24pm
steve:

thanks ngh! i do live in the gp right by both of those places. its pretzel time.
  5:24pm
Chris from DC:

Too good not to pass on, that one.
  5:27pm
Caryn:

Trying to find a list of places offering free pretzels online, and not having any luck... darn. But heck, go ask if your local places are celebrating!
  5:29pm
northguineahills:

@Steve: I'm off in that direction in about 30, if it would just stop raining (lightly).
  5:29pm
Dave M:

Listening from Brockley, South London on my iPhone. Welcome back, Fabio!
  5:31pm
northguineahills:

sadly, the only Brooklyn joints participating are: 5100 Flatbush Avenue, Suite 110 and 139 Flatbush Ave., #A-2

  5:35pm
steve:

hmm... googling reveals one of those is a Starbucks (the one by the Atlantic Terminal) the other is a pretty cool sounding place called Pretzelmaker... but its way out by Marine Park!
  5:44pm
Caryn:

No participating stores in New Jersey? WTH?! Come on, Garden State!
  5:47pm
sinister dexter:

Reise means "trip" in German, doesn't it?

"Rice-a"
  5:57pm
Matt from Springfield:

Maps of sand dunes are more workable with a real-time, 3D computer model.
Otherwise, of course, the situation changes and shifts too rapidly to put to a paper map.

Andy Breckman last year, now Fabio??! The FBI needs to investigate this criminal conspiracy of tree branches/limbs destroying the cars of WFMU people.

What's the song which starts playing right as Fabio does his first spoken segment (the one about tech failures, etc).

I've heard it at that spot a couple of times, and I can't actually figure out which one it is.
  7:52am
Art Deco:

Really, really nice show Fabio.
