  Thu. 2/2/12 10:03am Mugsy:

I've always considered Eric Idle the missing Beatle after his version of HERE COMES THE SUN on SNL.
  Thu. 2/2/12 10:04am Pete Best:

Hey, I'm still around you know!
  Thu. 2/2/12 10:04am r. THOrnton:

Spinal Tap should have covered the Rutles.
  Thu. 2/2/12 10:04am Cecile:

I wish he and George Harrison would have made music together. They were great friends.
  Thu. 2/2/12 10:05am BSI:

Funny. I've seen maybe three episodes of SNL in my life, but that rendition of HERE COMES THE SUN will forever be tattooed in my wig.
  Thu. 2/2/12 10:06am Mugsy:

And Mr. Harrison was just as silly.
  Thu. 2/2/12 10:07am Marmalade Kitty:

I'm sure george helped out a bit
  Thu. 2/2/12 10:07am wildneil:

Thu. 2/2/12 10:07am Dead Corporate Eyes:

enjoying this jazz adventure with Mr Wyatt.
  Thu. 2/2/12 10:08am r. THOrnton:

When I think of the musical Idle, I always think of "The FCC Song" first.
  Thu. 2/2/12 10:09am Cecile:

Actually, the Rutles were born as a skit on Rutland Weekend Television, a radio show/album project of Christopher Guest and Ricky Fataar's which was in '74 or '75. I don't know if they were friends with George then.
  Thu. 2/2/12 10:10am Cecile:

Whoops, not Christopher Guest, Eric Idle. And it was television, but came out as a record.
  Thu. 2/2/12 10:10am Marmalade Kitty:

Eric Idle - The greedy bastard diary is great
  Thu. 2/2/12 10:11am r. THOrnton:

Is that a book, Kitty?
  Thu. 2/2/12 10:11am Neil Innes:

Whuttabout me?
  Thu. 2/2/12 10:12am Cecile:

Whoops again, It ran in '75, and George Harrison was the musical guest for the Christmas special! I have to get those...
  Thu. 2/2/12 10:12am Cecile:

And Neil Innes wrote a lot of the music.
  Thu. 2/2/12 10:12am Marmalade Kitty:

  Thu. 2/2/12 10:14am Cecile:

you a genius, Neil.
  Thu. 2/2/12 10:15am glenn:

wondering about the origins of the rutles is like wondering the origins of the cinnamon bun. does it really matter? nope. just enjoy them.
  Thu. 2/2/12 10:16am Cecile:

I do wonder the origins of the cinnamon bun. it's fun knowing where it came from.
Thu. 2/2/12 10:17am Dead Corporate Eyes:

they come from Cinnabuns, right?
  Thu. 2/2/12 10:19am Neil Innes:

Re the Cinnamon Bun: Me and Viv came up with the idea one late night in Birmingham.
  Thu. 2/2/12 10:20am Cecile:

you a genius!
  Thu. 2/2/12 10:27am Marmalade Kitty:

  Thu. 2/2/12 10:29am wildneil:

AfroRock is so cool!
  Thu. 2/2/12 10:32am BSI:

  Thu. 2/2/12 10:34am r. THOrnton:
