I occasionally went to megaupload for out of print albums. If I couldn't find a record or CD for sale in any form, I'd download.
  4:40pm

  4:52pm
hubba:

I'm all for free downloads, but I don't do it... not unless it is a buddy or someone who offers their music for free, such as soundcloud, data/documentation sharing, or an archival blog, stuff i'd never be able toa fford in the first place. Fortunately, and unfortunately, there is just too much music, to really sit down with an album takes some time, unless the album sucks,, you know, and then to read, watch movies, go cliff diving, start a tree planting foundation...
One more reason to tune into WFMU and Fabio!!!
  4:57pm
G:

@Tag Alog: sometimes when gf's "want" something, they really may not want it any more if the moment is lost. priorities.
  5:03pm
earwax:

RIAA/MPAA says most of the content was illegal. Megauplad says most is legal. In either case, legit users lose access to their stuff. Punish everyone seems to be the legal model.

Cecile:

I know, very sad.
  5:37pm
JT:

Shutting Megaupload is actually proof that we don't need SOPA/PIPA.

And while, yes, I do mourn the loss of access out-of-print records, particularly the ones I actually own, the Megaupload dude is a major creep. So... not a total loss for everyone.
  5:39pm
