Mo,
Laurie Fuller was a contemporary of Isadora Duncan. She was known for dancing in a costume like this , whirling her arms up and down as she spun like a dervish. She was trying to imitate fire. There are very few pix and I think just one short piece of film of her. Dat's all I know...

  8:32pm
Windy City:

Its so cold they had to invent the deep dish pizza, a thin crust would never stay warm. A deep dish at least has a chance of staying warm it has "core" heat!
  8:34pm
revjon:

now windy city, i don't know if that's true, but the logic is very appealing. boston is starting to feel downright balmy in comparison
  8:35pm
listener gary:

Laurie fuller ...not the correct spelling...can be seen in the anthology film That's Dancing. In 1959, January, I was working in the Coconut Grove Playhouse in Miami and the show of note was Visit to a Small Planet with Paul Lynde. I knew then that someday there would be a program called HWood sqs and that he would BE ON IT!

Frank was one of few survivors in a boiler-explosion accident at his elementary school. Suffered from mental and physical ailments the rest of his life. Learned guitar while recovering in hospital; went to England on the insurance money and became the toast of the Brit folk revival (was Sandy Denny's beaux for a spell); was always haunted and couldn't deal with the scene. Came back to the states and ended up essentially homeless after he was misdiagnosed. Later, got (re)discovered by a fan who helped him back to a better place, then he upped and died unexpectedly as he was edging back toward composing/playing.
