Remixing all of The Doobie Brothers' 1980 album One Step Closer. This was the last album of the Michael McDonald years, when the band was completely devoid of creative ideas and was a husk of its former self. It's a great record though! No Skunk Baxter tho :(
Sax skronk from Anthony Braxton circa 1979 are floatin around in there, as is the soundtrack to Phase IV. |

| More Doobies man. This is the best set in the show, in my humble opinion. | 0:46:32 () | |||||
| The missing set from last week's show! The third quarter of Nas' Illmatic. Listen to the rest of it here. | 1:25:52 () | |||||

Nat:
From wikipedia: "They attracted a particularly strong following among local chapters of the Hells Angels and got a recurring gig at one of the bikers' favorite venues, the Chateau Liberté in the Santa Cruz Mountains." Perhaps by "Jesus Is Alright" they meant "Jesus is alright, but Satan is better"? I doubt Michael McDonald ever even smoked a doobie. What a lame-o. | |
