oh my goodness -- i thought that this Fall song sounded familiar! a tune that Irwin *inflicted* upon us through his incredible "Atrocious Music" program waaaaaay back when . . . SURREAL that The Fall would cover this *gem* . . . !

hi Jesse! "Atrocious Music" was a pre-"Incorrect Music" show -- mid-1980s, i think -- original is by Steve Bent -- ask Irwin! :)

Hello from the dimensions of the calm. 'Kind of felt like today was some animated dream state, suddenly frozen, mid-cloud passing by. Cozy & also haunting, like a room looking in on a Ray Bradbury story. Maybe. Excuse the dramatizm.

One audio-interesting moment that I would share with you guys would be one which would break the bubble of Bradbury. It was from today, & seen from the West Side pier park -- did you know those grassy hills are made of thick styrofoam? -- Well there were a few minutes when this giant cruise ship hulled by in front of the New Jersey landscape & it was blasting bag pipe music. Only on today/ yesterday would they be able to back that up. Ship was called 'Carnival Miracle'. Ehem, 'an essay.

Insomnia creeping in...reading the Murakami short story in the NY'er from last week...did I miss the mellow part of the show?

Pulse-aggravated music will at least take you out of the insomnia-slumber of 'middle ground' & back onto firm earth, 'fer sure! Which is something Murakami can only vouch for the moment you toss the reading material onto the hard floor. His writing seems always appropriate for this show, at one partition or another. Generally in the middle ground hour of its less firm phase, I'd say :)

Speaking/hearing of audio tests, at FMU the other day the emergency broadcast machine ran out of tape. For some reason it had never occurred to me that the system ran on some kind of mechanical analogue device. I had always thought of it as bodiless, or mere signal. 'Twas an entertaining discovery in action!

Sometime during David Suisman's fill-in or Bryce's show. Along the lines of friendly fire. There was a noise band playing & it was Chris Knox's birthday. So consider it jes a little tribute which he probably would've appreciated. Like he has opened an album before with a recording from an instructional manual (Tall Dwarves' Fork Songs; which details groove modulating.)
