  12:34pm
T-Zero:

@Duane: Looked him up on Wiki and read what little there was on his web site. Now, I'm intrigued.
  12:35pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

With all the Aretha Franklin songs that get played halfway to death (mine, at least), why don't songs like this get played more often? It's so lovely and heartbreaking, this song.
  12:36pm
Duane:

WDF: I concur
  12:36pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

Oh yes, we all need a Bacharach Break. It should be mandatory: all radio programs must contain at least one Bacharach/David composition. :-D
Thank you, Duane!
  12:39pm
annie:

  12:42pm

Michele:

Hey hi Joe!
Great show today Duane!
  1:32pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

Oh my goodness. Dick Clark, is Sylvester *really* among friends with your line of questioning? Dick Clark may be more popular, but if I could go back in time, I'd choose hanging out with, and listening to, Sylvester any day, any time.
  1:32pm
bennett4senate:

duane, I've always needed some help getting into the Sylvester catalog... I Need Somebody To Love Tonight is my jam, but I know that's a weird b-side, so trying to work my way back from there to the bulk of his catalog, any tips / notable waypoints I should be hitting?
  1:33pm
Melissa:

Duane- thanks for keepin; the funk alive. Amazo show today, as usual......
  1:35pm
Melissa:

Ps Check out Gary Clark Jr.on the inter-web. Great R&B, funk- however you want to call him. PLUS he's playing a free show at The Bearsville Theater in Woodstock tonight!
  1:37pm
Duane:

Melissa: Thank you for the positives! I'll check Gary Clark out.
Bennett4senate: "Was it something that I said" is a great Sylvester tune..the early funk stuff "Southern Man" cover. The live album is amazing as well.
  1:47pm
bennett4senate:

  1:52pm

Hello Duane and fellow listeners!
  2:23pm
T-Zero:

I was just curious. I can't say I'm real familiar with either one though. Only know Every Hour Is A Dollar Gone and Change in the Weather (albums)
  2:25pm
efd:

loving the music, of course, but that Dangerfield segment forced me to stop eating my lunch until it was over.
  2:26pm
PMD:

Great music!
  2:27pm
T-Zero:

Forgot to say... In a WFMU search I saw Sweaney played once upon a time but not Lindell.
  2:30pm
T-Zero:

@PMD: Yep. I really need to sleep, but have put it off just so I could continue listening.
  2:43pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

No way! I never heard this, but I am familiar with the parody: "Basketball Jones" by Cheech & Chong. My parents had "Los Cochinos" on vinyl when I was a kid. Haha. I thought this sounded familiar, but not...
  2:45pm
bennett4senate:

well played sir
  2:45pm
Carmichael:

Here it is, Wendy!
  2:46pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

hahaha, thank you! I should go put on some brown corduroy and orange polyester. Then I'll totally be in my childhood again.
  2:46pm
Kat:

Haha I wondered if we were going to get the "Jones" twin-spin. Never heard the original all the way through, that was fun!
  2:47pm

  2:48pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

Duane, your show keeps kicking more ass as the day progresses. Now Blue Oyster Cult?!? You are my new best DJ friend!
  2:49pm
Duane:

AAAAW Thanks guys. EFD..i'm honored to be disrespecting your lunch sir!
  2:49pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

Hey wait, this isn't Blue Oyster Cult? I'm confused...
  2:50pm
Duane:

Wendy: It is BOC it's the Stalk-FOrrest album they recorded for Elektra in 68
  2:52pm
wiki surprises:

Musicians who appeared on the record (Basketball Jones) included George Harrison, Carole King, Billy Preston, and Tom Scott. The Blossoms and Michelle Phillips (from The Mamas & the Papas) performed vocals as cheerleaders on the track.
  2:53pm
ScottC:

what a great set! blown down!
  2:53pm
Das:

This floyd is inspired, really transcends the original.
  2:54pm
efd:

If you like the audio you should see the video...
  2:55pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

Duane, cool! Thank you! I don't know much about the history of BOC. I used to work with a woman who dated one of them, I think Buck Dharma, back in the day, as they say. Other than that, I just know I like their music A LOT.
  2:56pm
jim dunlop:

totally agree with das about floyd
  2:56pm
Das:

@efd: Wow, is this the same band that did the Europe cover?
  2:57pm
Duane:

das: no different band, both are amazing
  2:57pm
ScottC:

it's funny- BOC was the Anthem Band for a very strange white boy gang in SF back in the 70's ( Miraloma Boys) I've never figured out why they latched onto that band so hard ( tattoos, boom box blasting etc...)
  2:58pm
Pete:

You really need to watch the video to get the full effect.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jj7pDNDuoJ0
  2:58pm
efd:

@Das, it is not! It's a completely different terrible band.
  2:58pm
v k:

highly enjoyable radio program today - thank you Duane
  2:59pm
Das:

Thanks guys!
  2:59pm
T-Zero:
