  Wed. 6/22/11 3:21pm Robert:

Strange, but I too have been unaccountably drowsy and napping all day! And because I'm trying to lose weight and haven't much food in the house, I've felt like eating much o the day too, when I was awake.

Afternoon, all.

AMAZING Dan & Joel remix! And it sounds like PLU and Ergo Phizmiz mixed rising star Max Rubin into this song.

Nice PLU/EP track.
  Wed. 6/22/11 3:23pm Desert Chica:

@Irwin,Robert: Foods like chocolate (and Chinese, French toast, and others esp. sugary starchy ones) will wind up making you tired, and more hungry.
Wed. 6/22/11 3:26pm Matt from Springfield:

Again with Chinese food, as well as bacon, orange juice and flavored chips will leave you thirsty for HOURS.
  Wed. 6/22/11 3:26pm Robert:

Wed. 6/22/11 3:27pm Matt from Springfield:

FLOPPY! This is NEW AMANDA?! GREAT backing track, and vocals as usual!
  Wed. 6/22/11 3:27pm Robert:

Matt, that might explain it for Irwin, but not for me, because I haven't eaten today.

  Wed. 6/22/11 3:32pm Desert Chica:

Skipping meals kicks your body into starvation mode, This leads to weight gain.
  Wed. 6/22/11 3:33pm Robert:

Yeah, but eating when you're asleep kicks your body into choke mode, which leads to asphyxia.
  Wed. 6/22/11 3:35pm Confused:

Isn't Bryce's show the one with the food-discussing comments board?

Enjoyed listening to this show of yours, Irwin, on a portable player while walking downtown last weekend. Helpful listening as I accidentally happened upon skads of people gathering for some video awards show thing.

100% cacao is still my favorite. you can take a chunk and eat it just as is, or take a square and eat it with a piece of fruit. or even eat a chunk with a pastry sweet or not. that way you can control the sweetness level your own way. but of course this way is not chocolate because no milk or cream. but you can add that too if you want

has anyone seen or heard a "hupenmann" this is a latest musical thing sometimes dumb street performance sometimes brilliant worthy of stage. the artist laces a jump suit sort of outfit with bicycle horns and makes very authentic sounding music with it by using his body in various moves to honk the horns.

  Wed. 6/22/11 4:25pm marq:

I know a guy who has last name Poulin. He said one time that a French speaking guy came down from Canada and said his last name means colt in French. Then I think he decided to drink Colt 45s for his namesake from then on.

  Wed. 6/22/11 4:35pm marq:

i think i remember years ago this mathew sweet guy circulating late night talk shows and on pop radio and talking about the theremin like it was this new thing.
  Wed. 6/22/11 4:40pm Das:

Is that Dennis deYoung on Keys?
Wed. 6/22/11 4:41pm Matt from Springfield:

OMG...it's like a mash-up between Rosemary and Fischer! I'd therefore love to see footage of them in the same studio, singing this together!
Wed. 6/22/11 4:43pm Matt from Springfield:

Wrote and produced by Barnes & Barnes, "fictional twin brothers Art Barnes and Artie Barnes (Bill Mumy and Robert Haimer, respectively), are a comedy rock duo based in "Lumania", a fictional mythological civilization (similar to Lemuria or Atlantis). Most of their music is standard rock or pop with heavy comedic elements. They are best known for their 1978 song "Fish Heads." "
  Wed. 6/22/11 4:44pm Ike:

For a second there, I thought they had updated it, and were singing, "she'll have fun, fun, fun until her daddy takes the TiVo away."

Wed. 6/22/11 4:53pm The Sherman Brothers:

@Irwin: If we had continued our songwriting for Disney, and if the original Walt Disney were alive today and commissioning songs, we think our current output would be very similar to this Amanda's recordings.
Wed. 6/22/11 4:54pm The Sherman Brothers:

In fact, "Supercalifragilisticexpiali-cookie" was to be the featured song in one of our shelved musicals.

Wed. 6/22/11 5:06pm Matt from Springfield:

A "edit" in the song "Key"? Don't tell me it's another crappy drum solo ruining a good song again...
  Wed. 6/22/11 5:07pm Irwin:

Exactly. Good drummer, lousy solo.
Wed. 6/22/11 5:09pm Pete in la:

Wed. 6/22/11 5:16pm Matt from Springfield:

Wed. 6/22/11 5:18pm Matt from Springfield:

@david: And make sure you touch the spot below your nose with a pinkie finger, a "Hitler moustache" representation, while giving the "Meow"!

  Wed. 6/22/11 5:27pm other david:

Koukou-Beyla, brilliant
  Wed. 6/22/11 5:30pm New Listener:

I did happen to notice that everything you play consists of sounds--do you always play sounds, or is this a "theme" episode?
  Wed. 6/22/11 5:31pm New Listener:

Genre-surfing tokenism, but over the years you surf through the same old 419 genres and sub-genres in each show.
  Wed. 6/22/11 5:39pm Desert Chica:

low tones in yawns of men and women, such a relaxing comfort
  Wed. 6/22/11 5:39pm Howie:

I feel like I'm listening to a Cameron Crowe movie.

same advice my guidance counselor gave to me in high school.
Wed. 6/22/11 5:41pm Matt from Springfield:

Sounds like Syd Barrett's last recordings--they let Fischer sing by himself and added a backing track around his vocal later.
Wed. 6/22/11 5:41pm Denise in DC:

Hello, Irwin.

Hello, all.
Wed. 6/22/11 5:42pm Matt from Springfield:

Hello Denise!
  Wed. 6/22/11 5:43pm Sleepyhead:

If Family Dogg had followed the Chambers Brothers, I might have slipped into gentle sleep.
Wed. 6/22/11 5:43pm Ensemble National Des Percussions de Guinée:

Hey Denise, welcome.
  Wed. 6/22/11 5:45pm Desert Chica:

Hey, Denise! You're late -- or early for the antics of Ken and what's-his-face, can't remember that shrinking violet's name...
  Wed. 6/22/11 5:47pm trrissh:

Good listening. Many thanks.
Wed. 6/22/11 5:47pm Matt from Springfield:

@Sleepyhead: The qualified WFMU DJ would then be required to play the Wild Man Fischer, to "ease" you out of said gentle sleep.
  Wed. 6/22/11 5:48pm Sleepyhead:

Fischer to the rescue. Glad it's only radio and not a hurled Zappa family knick-knack.
  Wed. 6/22/11 5:50pm fred:

are you playing this for Andy Breck-Man?
Wed. 6/22/11 5:50pm Denise in DC:

Thank you for the welcome. My workplace, rudely enough, has required me to perform work away from the computer for the past few weeks, so I couldn't be here.
  Wed. 6/22/11 5:50pm Sleepyhead:

Luck be some chocolate and a nap tonight
  Wed. 6/22/11 5:51pm other david:

Ah, the dulcet tones of Alexander Berger....

Almost as smooth a singer as Al Bowlly
  Wed. 6/22/11 5:51pm Sleepyhead:

ACK! That damned seg!
Wed. 6/22/11 5:52pm Matt from Springfield:

@Denise: There is the WFMU iPhone app, but knowing my luck my work would probably send me somewhere where iPhones are prohibited (they are in here, but at least I have a desktop).
  Wed. 6/22/11 5:53pm Sleepyhead:

It is not a bed.
Wed. 6/22/11 5:53pm Denise in DC:

I have the app. Unfortunately, I cannot listen while I am being forced to interact with other humans.
  Wed. 6/22/11 5:54pm Sleepyhead:

Haunt is right. It's mass hypnosis.
  Wed. 6/22/11 5:54pm Carmichael:

The last 5 minutes are always the best. Hi Irwin and people.
  Wed. 6/22/11 5:54pm other david:

background music reminds me of... say, Voice of Romania shortwave world service interval music - whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is up to you - personally I'm a fan of shortwave interval music
Wed. 6/22/11 5:55pm Denise in DC:

Aloha, Carmichael!
  Wed. 6/22/11 5:55pm Katya Oddio:

Wire's best presented here on heroin. Still chair dancing!
  Wed. 6/22/11 5:55pm Carmichael:

Hey, Denise!
  Wed. 6/22/11 5:56pm sirhc swerdna:

nice background, links and bridges for a soap methinks
  Wed. 6/22/11 5:58pm Katya Oddio:

Guessing if it isn't for hypnosis, it is just to encourage us to remix Select Quote.
  Wed. 6/22/11 5:58pm other david:

the first time I heard Wire playing Pink Flag, I thought he was singing - "Armenia! Armenia! Armenia!", rather than How Many Are/How Many Are?

Wed. 6/22/11 5:59pm Matt from Springfield:

Another lame concept, 7SD full speed ahead!

Enjoyable and engaging show, Irwin!
  Wed. 6/22/11 6:00pm Desert Chica:

Another fun one, Irwin! Thank you for all the laughs today, folks!
