These still play fine and a typical cylinder head is a ball so it sits lightly in the groove. Most cylinder deterioration comes from adverse storage conditions. I would say with proper care, HUNDREDS of years! | |

So better than CD-R's? :D That's truly remarkable, thank you for this wonderful show, I love the footsteps in the background and the winding of the player.. there's something so gentle and perfect about it :) I have to admit my era of recordings top out with Wilmoth Houdini and Annette Hanshaw, and they probably just missed the cylinder era | |
