A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Loretta Lynn carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Tue. 5/3/11 9:49am Adrian in London:

I really like the Telebossa songs you've been playing recently. If I've got any money left after buying expensive Grouper albums from eBay I might have to purchase.
  Tue. 5/3/11 9:51am pierre:

hey trouble, i was wondering (as i know you know a lot of french musicians) do you know/like Alain Bashung ? And someone like Dominique A ?
  Tue. 5/3/11 9:55am jen v.:

oh trouble, thank you so much for playing this song. you are a goddess.
  Tue. 5/3/11 9:57am trouble:

high priced grouper records? wow that is crazy! but the telebossa is stunning, i can't stop playing it...pierre yes i know dominique a, he came out to fmu before we moved with francois breut and her preggo belly. i have some alain bashung, not a lot yet. recommendations?
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:01am trouble:

it's so easy to be a goddess these days. in the old days you had to slay millions on the grecian seas, but today fleetwood mac does the trick. thanks jen v!
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:01am northguineahills:

I love all things from Tusk.
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:03am Cheri Pi:

Oh Yes-Nuggets!
Tue. 5/3/11 10:04am Tom ( The Bactrian Support Record ):

critics so trashed "TusK" when it came out I love it myself !! like a lot of you
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:05am pierre:

@ trouble: first thanks for Julianna Barwick, i'm going to see her live in Paris on the 25th of may (if other frenchies are listening, its at the "Espace B" in the north of Paris) > exciting !

I was sure you knew Dominique A, and i was sure Dominique A was a wfmu listener. : )

As for Bashung, well i could reccomand anything, but my favourite albums are "Novice" (with Colin Newman from Wire), "Bleu Pétrole" (his last album), "Roulette Russe", "Osez Joséphine", and "Fantaisie Militaire", i'd say, but again i'm no specialist.
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:08am Steak:

Hello and thanx from Paris 16/07 pm
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:08am dc pat:

Easybeats, 2nd best group from Australia.
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:09am Cheri Pi:

I've always wondered about their sister Margaret Young. Perhaps she's married to one of the guys from Rose Tattoo? Because everyone Young seems to be rocking out in one way or another.
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:10am pierre:

@ dc pat : wich one is the first ?
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:13am Jennique:

  Tue. 5/3/11 10:24am Cheri Pi:

@Dc Pat, @Trouble-both wrong. It's the Saints, followed by Radio Birdman, then the Bee Gees and #4=AC/DC.
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:24am Yuri Gagarin:

Tue. 5/3/11 10:25am david in denver:

#5=Easy Beats, #6=Hoodoo Gurus
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:31am annie:

  Tue. 5/3/11 10:34am Cheri Pi:

  Tue. 5/3/11 10:34am Steak:

The Saints of course
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:35am dc pat:

it's like Rod Laver vs Mark Philippoussis or something, no competition.

trouble: always friendly!
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:35am Parq:

The best band in Australia ever was a band of aboriginal warriors who resisted British rule. All right, I just made that up, but it would be pretty cool, yeah?
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:36am still b/p:

I think I need to get some Ronettes for driving music.
And I like sapce and east fo the river nile. Trouble's poetry -- or peotry -- of transpositions.
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:36am Jennique:

@pierre - Pablo Picasso was never called an asshole
@dc pat - my #1 is Hoodoo Gurus
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:36am swampsucker don:

  Tue. 5/3/11 10:36am chris:

AC DC #1, Little River Band #2, BGs #3
I've never heard of anyone else and not a NIck Cave fan
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:37am Jennique:

Midnight Oil? Liked them for a time.
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:37am pierre:

#4
i would put "the beast of bourbon"/"the cruel sea"
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:38am Cheri Pi:

@Jennique-I respectfully disagree w/ your #1 choice. That said- I love the Hoodoo Gurus and it's a ballsy choice for sure.
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:39am pierre:

@ Jennique : ? Augustus Pablo was called an assahole ?
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:40am dc pat:

consensus seems to be Easybeats, Bee Gees, AC/DC, Saints all in top 5. Man, can't believe I'm striking out with BP, I just think they were WAY WAY WAY ahead of their time.
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:40am Negator:

Best Australian bands: Skyhook, The Birthday Party, Razor

  Tue. 5/3/11 10:48am trouble:

a dj is only as good as her listeners: kayt gave it to me!
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:48am Roy:

Hi Trouble

  Tue. 5/3/11 10:49am chris:

  Tue. 5/3/11 10:50am Carmichael:

  Tue. 5/3/11 10:51am kayt:

  Tue. 5/3/11 10:52am trouble:

Olivia Newton John -- she sure could work a pair of leg warmers
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:55am dc pat:

ick I could never get passed that singer for Midnight Oil. Tryin' too hard for me..
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:56am Jennique:

@Carmichael - look up a bit and you'll see I mentioned them, thank you very much.
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:57am dc pat:

I have no freakin idea why I like this neon indian tune. This almost sounds like something by 10cc from the 70's.
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:58am Jennique:

@ Pierre - I dunno about Augustus Pablo. Perhaps he has been called an asshole in his lifetime? All I know is Pablo has NEVER been called an asshole, and the girls turned the color of an avocado when he drove down the street in his El Dorado.
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:58am trouble:

10cc:love
it
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:59am kwhitehead:

sounds like MGMT to me. That's not a bad thing. I'm just sayin'
  Tue. 5/3/11 10:59am bassBinL:

trouble, the pressure is on.

I can't wait to hear your perfect pronounciation of antonio's surname
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:00am still b/p:

I was waiting to see if INXS (World Famous KROQ's #2) would get mentioned here and then eagerly hhhhhhhammered.
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:01am chris:

OMG 10CC! Didn't know they were from Oz
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:02am Carmichael:

OK Jennique, I didn't see your comment in my lightning fast perusal of comments past.

And DC Pat, you're right. That lead singer is just creepy.
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:03am Carmichael:

They're not, Chris. They're all from Manchester.
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:04am trouble:

bassBinL: aaaaaaaah. perfect pronunciation not my speciality. how about wrong but strong?
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:06am still b/p:

Jennique -- Is JR's market penetration transatlantic? Pierre might not follow the trail of cluecrumbs.
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:07am chris:

to Carmichael: Oh... oh well they are still awesome.
Tue. 5/3/11 11:07am Adrian in London:

Best Aussie band was The Triffids, or The Go-Betweens, depending on my mood. Born Sandy Devotional is a stunning record. You don;t need to go to Australia if you have it.
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:07am pierre:

(yeah, i'm ashamed to admit that i didn't get this one…)
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:09am bassBinL:

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I guess that's why they call you Trouble?
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:09am kayt:

muinto bom trouble!
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:10am Jennique:

Pierre! I am sorry. I jest with you! It is a great song and I quote it mainly because my first encounter of it was in the film Repo Man. I am a punk nerd and just assume that everyone else is. My bad. Here's the full story...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pablo_Picasso_%28song%29
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:11am Happy Listener:

Good morning, Trouble. Great show as always. I think the name sounds like "barriachos".
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:12am Jennique:

Oh dear, I have to go to a meeting. Will have to listen to the rest of the show on the archives. Ciao everyone!
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:13am bassBinL:

is this the Blur cover?
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:14am Happy Listener:

So next time it's "Antonio Barryachos", and you're close enough.
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:15am trouble:

do the portugese switch the v and the b too?
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:15am Andrew:

"Even As We Speak" were a great Aussie pop group. Would fit in well with Trouble's ouvre, I would say.
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:15am jeremy:

this belbury poly track sounds like it could morph into full on disco at any second (which wouldn't be all that bad)
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:16am pierre:

héhéhé thanks Jennique !
i'd like to call myself a punk nerd as well, so i will learn, thanks to you…
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:17am kayt:

not really, a v is not a b in portuguese, just a softer v
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:19am trouble:

thanks kayt! and thanks for the street cred i am getting for my 'deep' knowledge of portugese music...
Tue. 5/3/11 11:19am Adrian in London:

@andrew Well said. Feral Pop Thrill was a great album. I think I saw Even As We Speak live.
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:20am Mike East:

Morning everyone! Hey Trouble, I caught the last hour and a half in the car. Really dug that bomino track. What language was that?
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:21am annie:

ok, sweet; i'm at the comm again.. trouble in the cafe.
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:24am mike tp:

better late than not looks like another stellar by starlite playlist trubbs
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:25am still b/p:

  Tue. 5/3/11 11:26am trouble:

yes bombino is new generation tuareg! welcome mike
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:31am Andrew:

  Tue. 5/3/11 11:33am Mike East:

Awesome. Thanks guys! Now I've learned my new thing for the day.
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:33am Robert:

I can't imagine you wouldn't have enough time for a sissy. Duty could be a real problem.
Tue. 5/3/11 11:36am Adrian in London:

@Andrew. Yes. And a frenzy beats a thrill in descriptive Top Trumps, doesn't it?
Tue. 5/3/11 11:37am Nanker de Tucson:

Weird turn of events for former gov J McGreevey. For some reason I thought he went into exile somewhere in Israel
Tue. 5/3/11 11:40am yair Yona (Tel Aviv, Earth):

Hey everyone, out of the office and great weather here in tel aviv. Fun fun fun with Trouble
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:45am Robert:

I love accelerando, wish more pieces used it, like that one. Must be hard for a band to pull off, though.
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:48am Garth:

First time I'm catching trouble live since moving to Israel almost two years ago. It's sounding nice as ever.
  Tue. 5/3/11 11:50am trouble:

  Tue. 5/3/11 11:52am Carmichael:
