You know, the more I think about it, the more WFMU fits the mold of DuMont television and their TV network -- except with no commercials.
  12:13pm
Carmichael:

I don't know what to think anymore. Give me some time.
  12:16pm
DuMont:

We had no major money to work with either, but we did some interesting stuff anyway.

  12:45pm

Oh, minor problem. You have to go back to the WFMU HOME PAGE. You should mention that for Luddites such as myself.
  12:46pm
Radioman:

It is a little dark in the studio I think.
  12:48pm

  1:50pm
Robert:

Darn, I gotta re-sync my color wheel now.
  1:52pm
Robert:

Whew! I was running out of space on my take-up reel.
  1:53pm
Mary Wing:

That was terrific, very hypnotic.
  1:54pm
Mary Wing:

Can't hear the other guy! Turn some mics on!
  1:58pm
Robert:

Seriously, a friend of mine who died since came up with an idea for retro technology -- a system that would've required less space for the receiving equipment for field sequential color. Instead of a honkin' big wheel, the idea would be to have the color gels on a Mylar sheet wound arounds rollers (one driven & sync'd, the others passive) that could either have gone around the picture tube or, with some extra lateral space but less than required for a wheel, "folded" in front of it (with a blanking and clear interval).
  1:59pm
Robert:

Why don't you stream the "interval signal" thru the UStream audio too?
  2:01pm
Mary Wing:

The music isn't coming through the UStream channel, as Robert notes.
  2:02pm
emmagineering:

that snake's going right off the page. i don't like it. i love it. thanks for the mammaries kurt :)
  2:03pm
Robert:

This reminds me of one of the barbers I used to go to as a child. The shop had either a regular FM receiver on some easy listening or possibly a subcarrier receiver like Muzak, while a rear screen projector showed a long loop of slides. Took me a long time to realize they weren't a single program -- neural phenomenon called 'entrainment" tends to impose a synchroniz'n that isn't objectively there.
  2:08pm
emmagineering:

  2:09pm
Remy Faso:

Entrainment will work with anything. I still have great memories of wathcing The Giant Claw with Freewheelin Bob Dylan as the soundtrack.
