Mike TP — and everyone — don't forget to tune in to Give the Drummer Radio's newest program, NAZARIO SCENARIO, by the amazing Amanda Nazario. Her show is now airing on the stream every Wednesday, Noon to 2pm (ET).

Her playlist page is here: http://wfmu.org/playlists/AN
  12:49pm
tonyc:

Her show has a great name for sure -- wish something groovy rhymed with "Coulter" .... "Moulter"? "Bolter"?
  12:51pm
tonyc:

Have no fear -- I'll be putting the swirling synths to rest after this set....
  12:54pm

BSI:

it's a parade of marching cartoon ocelots in here. Kee-rist, i gotta shut the office door before somebody calls the rubber cops....
  1:18pm
tonyc:

Ha!
  1:22pm
Ricardo Montalban:

What'd I miss (runs in late, panting...)?
  1:23pm
tonyc:

A parade of cartoon ocelots. (Welcome Senor!)
  1:24pm
Ike:

These sounds go fairly well with a mysore masala dosa filled with burning-hot spices.
  1:24pm
Ricardo Montalban:

all playing harmonicas, no doubt.
Greetings, Tony!
  1:26pm
Drummer Some:

Tony, I believe the correct term is a "riot" of cartoon ocelots. Get your phraseology straight!
  1:26pm
charlie:

Those harmonica bands really created a surreal sound. The early synthesizer...
  1:28pm
Ricardo Montalban:

Love Tuxedo moon! Just bought and old Ralph comp with them on it. Something old and crusty. Great band. Love Blaine L. Reininger's solo stuff, too.
  1:29pm
tonyc:

The crust is the best part of the pie....
  1:34pm
tonyc:

Are we not pie?
  1:34pm
Ricardo Montalban:

I remember seing this record at Tower when I was a teenager and ever since regretting not buying it
  1:36pm
glenn:

so what's the collective noun for wfmu listeners? of course, each stream needs its own.
  1:36pm
tonyc:

It's got some good tracks for sure....
  1:36pm
glenn:

a snare of drummer somes?
  1:37pm
Ricardo Montalban:

Foomites
  1:37pm
tonyc:

Foomers?
  1:38pm
Ricardo Montalban:

Give the Drummer Some: Someites
  1:38pm
Drummer Some:

I heard that, Glenn.
  1:39pm
tonyc:

Drum-stickiers?
  1:50pm
BSI:

I prefer the term EXTREMELY GROOVY PEOPLE, myself.
  1:51pm
tonyc:

I've got lots of groove wear myself....
  1:52pm
glenn:

no, see, those are not collective nouns, well, except for a snare. we could be a groove (tips hat to bsi).
  1:52pm
Ricardo Montalban:

I tend to give off a lot of surface noise
  1:56pm
glenn:

speaking of great icelandic music, i reccomend lay low. she's kind of the bastard love child of dolly parton and sigur ros.
  1:58pm
tonyc:

Thanks, Glenn! I'll investigate....

Senor Montalban: At least you're not too badly warped...
  1:58pm
glenn:

recommend. oops.
  2:00pm
BSI:

violently groovy, at times.
  2:00pm
Ricardo Montalban:

I have a small, deceptive warped edge that you fail to notice until the needle drops and you're on the air.
  2:01pm
tonyc:

Don't worry, Glenn -- I prefer my words misspelled....
  2:01pm
glenn:

hey, at least you have fine corinthian leather. some of us are mere flesh and bone.
  2:02pm
BSI:

I have a run-out groove etching but won't show it without having a great many drinks first.
  2:06pm
tonyc:

And I guess no one admits to having mold....
  2:08pm
glenn:

lay low on the tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7n4jrwNhsQo
  2:09pm
Ricardo Montalban:

I bought a Heintje record that had a moldy cover and it infected a big chunk of my collection. I knew there was something creepy about that kid.
  2:09pm
tonyc:

Thanks, Glenn! Will check 'er out post-show....
  2:10pm
Ricardo Montalban:

I love the spooky cover of that Mancini album
  2:14pm
tonyc:

It's one of his best fer sure. Thanks to DJ Rix for reminding me how great "The Whispering Sea" is...
  2:18pm
BSI:

whoa. Now you're swimming my language.
  2:24pm
tonyc:

A mighty tide sweeping all cartoon ocelots away...
  2:31pm
Kay:

Looking forward to hearing Psi-Fi when I listen to the archive, enjoying your 3/29 Belgian-themed show right now. (Just call me "The Timeshifter"!)
  2:34pm
tonyc:

Greetings from the future, Kay-from-the-Past!
  2:35pm
glenn:

kay makes great guitars. especially the thin twin.
  2:39pm
tonyc:

Really? Have a Web site, Kay?
  2:43pm
tonyc:

A straw poll: Should I start using an in-theme, as there's no one before me to introduce the show? Guess it might make it more obvious that the show has begun. (Haven't used an in-theme for years -- it gets to be a bit of a drag having to segue out of the same track every show.)
  2:49pm
tonyc:

Well, seems like the straw is in favor of an in-theme -- what about you?
  2:49pm
mark:

Don't think so, though maybe just some spoken word bit would do. Great show as usual.
  2:50pm
BSI:

interesting question. I usually join the party 15 minutes late so it wouldn't matter. But it's funny how a certain James Last tune or a certain Lee Morgan tune will forever mean something far more stretched-out because of this practice....
  2:51pm
BSI:

Although mark brings up a good point: something else, like spoken piece, media excerpt, something custom-edited mebbe?
  2:51pm
tonyc:

Thanks, Mark! Sorry, all, that the Koechlin was sounding a bit over-compressed -- just the vagaries of streaming, I guess...
  2:55pm
glenn:

http://www.kayguitar.com/
  2:57pm
glenn:

or http://www.kayvintagereissue.com/
  2:57pm
tonyc:

Guess I'll ponder the in-theme question further. Thanks for listening everyone....
  2:58pm
Ike:

I like opening themes a lot, but don't drive yrself crazy if the segues are a pain. If it's easier, maybe your "theme" could be something similar each week, but not the same -- things all from one certain group or category. A few other DJs have done that. I think Dan Bodah now does a different Eno track each week for his opener. And Rix used to do a different organ track each week, right?
  2:58pm
tonyc:

Gracias, Glenn!
  2:58pm
O:

Great show! I'll tune in again. Hamel channels Virgil Fox! Next time maybe some Mike Quatro.
  3:00pm
tonyc:

Thanks O! And Ike, for the intriguing idea....
  3:03pm
BSI:

the traffic sounds are kind of a signature sonic element, oddly comforting and now definitely Coulteresque...
  3:03pm
Ricardo Montalban:

thanks, Tony!
  3:03pm
tonyc:

See you all in two weeks....
