  Fri. 11/5/10 9:26am Bruce:

  Fri. 11/5/10 9:30am Scott:

Possible -but it's not like there's a counter next to turntable 1.
  Fri. 11/5/10 9:32am Cecile:

that sounds like a doron thing.
Fri. 11/5/10 9:41am tim from champaign:

Ha! The old fogies pissing off the youngsters with their music. The way it should be.
  Fri. 11/5/10 9:43am Scott:

To him already I'm just hopelessly out of touch.
  Fri. 11/5/10 9:43am Cheri Pi:

I'm loving Sabu, must hunt this down.
  Fri. 11/5/10 9:47am Cecile:

Scott, there is a Joe McPhee tune with "Violets" in the title that if you could play, I'd be most happy.
  Fri. 11/5/10 9:51am Scott:

Hmmm, at a loss as to what that might be.
  Fri. 11/5/10 9:52am Hugo:

Cheri:

Probably the esiest way to get it is from here:

  Fri. 11/5/10 9:55am Scott:

Yeah, Hugo, that's where I got it! The wonderful Inconstant Sol.
  Fri. 11/5/10 9:57am Cecile:

I think it's one of those things he did with Andre Jaune. Written for a dear friend.
  Fri. 11/5/10 9:58am Cecile:

Violets for Pia that's the piece.
Fri. 11/5/10 9:59am Chris from DC:

Thanks for the tip on Sabu. Assuming that one is oput of print?
  Fri. 11/5/10 9:59am Scott:

Ah Cecile, don't know it.
Fri. 11/5/10 10:01am Chris from DC:

Er, out of print.
  Fri. 11/5/10 10:03am Cecile:

it is gorgeous. One of the most lovely jazz ballads ever. EVER!
  Fri. 11/5/10 10:09am Scott:

High praise. will track it down. thanks.
  Fri. 11/5/10 10:12am Hugo:

Chris: The poster said so, so we have to assume it is.

Scott: Glad to see you like the blog. We try to serve up the hits and nothing but the hits!
Fri. 11/5/10 10:18am Chris from DC:

Seems like a good candidate for a reissue. Great stuff.
  Fri. 11/5/10 10:20am Hugo:

  Fri. 11/5/10 10:28am Cheri Pi:

I really want to hear Violets for Pia now.
  Fri. 11/5/10 10:37am trouble:

  Fri. 11/5/10 10:41am Scott:

Oooooh. thanks, Trouble!
  Fri. 11/5/10 10:42am Wendy:

Too Far Gone? On the Beach? A bonus track or something?
  Fri. 11/5/10 10:44am Cecile:

I mean!!!!! I have to find this.
  Fri. 11/5/10 10:46am glenn:

on the beach is 1974 (i think). my second favourite neil young album.
  Fri. 11/5/10 10:48am Scott:

Yeah you're correct '74. What's your first fave?
  Fri. 11/5/10 10:57am glenn:

usually it's rust never sleeps. once in a while it's zuma. and then there's american stars and bars. apparently he has about forty!!! albums worth of unreleased material recorded.
  Fri. 11/5/10 11:05am Mike East:

I just got the "Everybody Knows This is Nowhere" LP... gotta love that Crazy Horse
  Fri. 11/5/10 11:06am Wendy:

The first side of Hawks and Doves is pretty nice, too.
  Fri. 11/5/10 11:12am Hugo:

Just had a listen to "Violets." It really is a lovely piece and quite different from the rest of the album. I'm sure Scott will keep it in mind for a later show.
  Fri. 11/5/10 11:14am glenn:

yep, everybody knows.... is great too. i simply can't stand harvest though. heart of gold is neil's stairway. great artist, terrible song.
  Fri. 11/5/10 11:16am Wendy:

@ Glenn. Couldn't disagree more, but to each his own. Not even Out on the Weekend or Words?
  Fri. 11/5/10 11:16am Patrick:

scott, great tunes this morning!
  Fri. 11/5/10 11:19am Scott:

Hey thanks Patrick.
  Fri. 11/5/10 11:19am Hugo:

I would put Ragged Glory high on the list because that's what it is. And Tonight's the Night.
  Fri. 11/5/10 11:21am glenn:

okay wendy, those are good tunes. plus the needle and the damage done. maybe it's just that my dislike for heart of gold is lying over top of everything else.
kinda like putting fake maple syrup on top of the best pancakes ever made. yeah, just like that.
Fri. 11/5/10 11:24am tim from champaign:

Zuma. The Dead Man soundtrack is high on my list. Comes A Time is a nice Sunday morning coming down type of record. I'm not a big CSNY fan but I really love Helpless.
  Fri. 11/5/10 11:27am seang:

yes, Dead Man, when the bones split apart in the opening credits as the distorted guitar erupts--5 seconds of pure cinematic bliss-by the way anybody got any tobacco?
  Fri. 11/5/10 11:27am Cecile:

I like that cassingle with Eldorado on it. And the live deal from the late 60s when he's free-associating in Ann Arbor.
  Fri. 11/5/10 11:30am glenn:

i gotta ask... what the hell is melissa etheridge thinking, having david crosby as a sperm donor, not once, but twice??????? sidney crosby , maybe.
  Fri. 11/5/10 11:31am adamp:

audio greatness, scott, as usual!
  Fri. 11/5/10 11:34am Scott:

Hey Adam!
Fri. 11/5/10 11:34am tim from champaign:

Yeah, I'd be a little leary of a genetic disposition toward substance abuse and walrus mustaches.
  Fri. 11/5/10 11:43am Wendy:

Such a good show today, too -
  Fri. 11/5/10 11:43am greg:

agree. sonic superness.
  Fri. 11/5/10 11:45am Cecile:

Hey, he's hardy as a horse. He's still standing after all the crap he's done. And, hey if you're not actually doing the deed and want a kid...
  Fri. 11/5/10 11:49am Cecile:

I mean, I love Neil Young, but if I'm looking at it very cold-eyed, there's the diabetes and the recessive cerebal palsy gene...
  Fri. 11/5/10 11:51am Parq:

I kinda doubt there was much chance that Ethridge and her squeeze were going to choose Hugh Cornwell. Speaking of folky-roots music, this set is taking my right back to the pre-punk days of folkie stuff on the radio in Boston in the mid-70s.
  Fri. 11/5/10 11:56am glenn:

why not hugh cornwell? he's younger, smarter, better looking. on the other hand, i'm sure he'd have laughed them out of the room. and..... i'm gonna say it right here, punk rock IS folk music.
  Fri. 11/5/10 11:58am Mike East:

does that mean funk is polka?
  Fri. 11/5/10 11:58am Mike East:

that was bad and I apologize.
  Fri. 11/5/10 11:59am Cecile:

To paraphrase Leadbelly, it's all folk music. Folks make it.
  Fri. 11/5/10 12:00pm annie:

i've been listening, i'm just in a very foul mood..
