Listener comments!

  Sun. 2/28/10 3:31am Helena:

good morning from greece...kalimera!
  Sun. 2/28/10 3:33am Joe:

Good morning, Helena! Thanks for tuning in!
  Sun. 2/28/10 3:41am Joshua K:

Hi Joe. I didn't realize you moved to this time slot. I guess I never tuned in at this hour. Are you ready for the marathon madness?
  Sun. 2/28/10 3:43am Joe:

Yep, I've been here since the sked change back in Whenever. I'm trying to gird my loins for the coming week... It's always a mad, mad time.
  Sun. 2/28/10 4:45am Rob Bennett:

up late finishing a job, loving the tunes... Tampa Bay, Florida...

CHEERS!
Rob Bennett
  Sun. 2/28/10 4:47am Joe:

Howdy, Rob! I'll be in Tampa in April, actually. I love the old theatre there.
  Sun. 2/28/10 4:49am Rob Bennett:

The Tampa Theatre is great. Definitely a staple in bigger venues....
  Sun. 2/28/10 4:50am Joe:

I love that old dame who plays the organ.
  Sun. 2/28/10 4:57am Rob Bennett:

the mighty Wurlitzer Organ, gotta love it.
  Sun. 2/28/10 5:01am Joe:

I do, indeed I do.
  Sun. 2/28/10 5:04am Joshua K:

That sounds interesting. I have never checked that out when I was visiting. I did Ybor city, Zoo, Dali museum last time I was in Tampa.
Will have to check that out next time.
  Sun. 2/28/10 5:11am Rob Bennett:

Lowry park zoo is near Ybor city, it's a cool spot, across the street is a nice band shelter where they have some good shows... Dali is definitely a epicenter of downtown St. Pete, there is a new fine arts building in Downtown St. Pete now, definitely worth checking out... also check out transitions Art Gallery at the Tampa Skatepark while in Tampa...fun art and some live music
  Sun. 2/28/10 5:17am Joe:

Thanks for the recommends, Rob. I've been to the Dali Museum, but not the zoo. Will check out any live music I can find there in April, provided it's not too hot. I'm used to the frosty weather up here, so Tampa is sometimes a bit rough for me.
  Sun. 2/28/10 5:22am Rob Bennett:

anytime Joe, thanks for playing the rocking tunes...
it's been surprisingly cold here, i think it is 46 degrees out right now. we had small flurries and lots of ice for a good 3 weeks now... i am hoping the spring/summer is not going to be too hot... check out wmnf 88.5's website before you come out... they're good about staying on top of all the shows going on in the area...
  Sun. 2/28/10 5:24am Joe:

Thanks, Rob! I know we have some WMNF listeners, so it will be good for me to return the favor by checking them out. Flurries and ice in Tampa? The weather is definitely broken.
  Sun. 2/28/10 5:29am Rob Bennett:

yes, the weather is definitely off kilter..

WMNF is great, WUSF is also good, they play some great Jazz at 10:00 PM until NPR takes over at 5am..saturday and Sundays they play Prairie home companion...that show cracks me up
..I started checking listening to WFMU when i was in Brooklyn in March of '09... one of my favorite stations... it's the first thing i put on when i get to work now...
  Sun. 2/28/10 5:43am Brian Sanders:

Great to hear this old sixties stuff here in the UK, Joe. Isn't this 'Tales from the Underworld' orginally.
  Sun. 2/28/10 5:53am Joe:

Glad you dug it, Brian! Thanks for the heads-up re: the Herd.
  Sun. 2/28/10 6:01am Brian Sanders:

Timebox put me in mind of The Idle Races' The Man Who Lived in a Tree' I think that was the title.
  Sun. 2/28/10 10:46am Mike Sin:

I surely luv that Nick Garrie track... Super freakbeat set as well, but I'm sure you were expecting that compliment from me -- it's akin to throwing an alcoholic a free bottle of "Old Grandad" or some such. You're feeding my inane addiction! Nice dramatic conclusion with the Badfinger track.
  Sun. 2/28/10 12:50pm Joe M.:

Thanks, Mike! I had a feeling you might like that set, even though you probably know most of that stuff by heart. I did try to play some off-cuts, just to make it interesting for you!
