Listener comments!

Thu. 7/23/09 12:06pm From: Carmichael

Hiya Scott and listeners.

Thu. 7/23/09 12:06pm From: Cecile

good morning carm, scott and everyone

Thu. 7/23/09 12:09pm From: Scott

Hi pals, hey who don't love swans??

Thu. 7/23/09 12:10pm From: Cecile

I loved them on record.
Live, we got bored after ten minutes and went and got fried chicken. Then we came back looking happy and wiping our faces. Everyone knew something was up...

Thu. 7/23/09 12:11pm From: Carmichael

I sure liked Swan on Phantom of the Paradise.

Thu. 7/23/09 12:13pm From: Cecile

Is today "S" day? Because that would be cool.

Thu. 7/23/09 12:14pm From: Carmichael

"S"cott ....

Thu. 7/23/09 12:17pm From: Cecile

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Thu. 7/23/09 12:18pm From: Ike

I once had a roommate whose cat was named Styx. That was one dumb, incontinent cat. I can get along with almost any cat, but not that one. But this song is even dumber. ;)

Thu. 7/23/09 12:18pm From: Glenn L

What Cecile said.

Thu. 7/23/09 12:19pm From: Scott

Oh, just act like you didn't know. Guess it's too late for that huh...

Thu. 7/23/09 12:21pm From: Jamie

I was in Chacago last week and Styx was playing in Grant Park, but I didn't know. I'm just walking down the street and all of a sudden I hear Come Sail Away blasting loud and clear. I was totally looking for the gathering of angels, it was so creepy and trippy.

Thu. 7/23/09 12:22pm From: Jonathan Steinke

I hope I'm reading all this info right about 6FS getting back together. Suh-weet.

Thu. 7/23/09 12:22pm From: Cecile

is dennis de young back with them, or are they still feudin'?

Thu. 7/23/09 12:23pm From: Carmichael

When I was talking about finding Odessa in a used CD place, I also saw the largest collection of Dennis DeYoung solo CDs ever. Even more than Stacey Q.

Thu. 7/23/09 12:35pm From: Sean

Great show so far Scott. Greetings from California. Speaking of Phantom of the Paradise, the remake looks blasphemous.

Thu. 7/23/09 12:39pm From: dc pat

I'm always impressed with Ike's concern for other people's musical sensibilities. I always agree with him too.

Thu. 7/23/09 12:41pm From: Ike

"If you didn't know, you wouldn't've said nothing." NOT TRUE. I didn't know who it was at first, because I was listening while working. But my immediate reaction was, "Wow, whatever this is, IT REALLY REALLLLLY BLOWS!" ;) :P And then I saw that it was Styx, and I was like, "No wonder!" True story! (But the rest is excellent so far!)

Thu. 7/23/09 12:43pm From: dc pat

...like I said...

Thu. 7/23/09 12:45pm From: Ike

Hi DC Pat! Thanks for your message of support for the unrepentant, loving critic! Oh, how I cherish free speech.

Thu. 7/23/09 12:47pm From: Sean

Hurrah! Free speach!

Thu. 7/23/09 12:50pm From: dc pat

Yes I too fucking LOVE free speech, especially right the fuck here on Scott's playlist. Fuck yeah!!

Thu. 7/23/09 12:54pm From: Scott

Great, so we're all on the free speech=good tip. Hey, who don't love rock music??

Thu. 7/23/09 12:54pm From: Sean

I hear this in my head when I do my taxes.

Thu. 7/23/09 12:56pm From: Scott

Hey, who don't love a flood watch?? Stay tuned Nassau & Fairfield counties...

Thu. 7/23/09 12:58pm From: Sean

Good thing I won't be back east until September. Stay dry you guys.

Thu. 7/23/09 12:58pm From: Parq

I am not necessarily in favor of free speech, but unfortunately, no one is willing to pay me for them.

Thu. 7/23/09 12:59pm From: stingy d

Thu. 7/23/09 12:59pm From: Scott

Someone jump Parq!

Thu. 7/23/09 1:01pm From: Sean

Jump? How high?

Thu. 7/23/09 1:04pm From: Sean

Shouldn't we have changed the emergency alert system by now...its a little played out.

Thu. 7/23/09 1:06pm From: dc pat

would it make any difference if you just played a tape of Ken going "Aaaaaaaaaaarrrgh! Aaaaaaaaaaarrrgh! Aaargh! Aaargh! Aaaaaaaaaaarrrgh"

Thu. 7/23/09 1:09pm From: Parq

@Sean, 1:10 - not at all; I'm at work, y'know.

Thu. 7/23/09 1:10pm From: stingy d

it's gonna rain all fun day. i hate that. scott i'ma come over tomorrow tho

Thu. 7/23/09 1:13pm From: Cecile

I got caught in a storm in St. Paul yesterday.
Lightning, hail, wind, torrential rain.

HAH-RIB-BLE

I'm really getting to like this Theo Angell song

Thu. 7/23/09 1:13pm From: Ike

This set is buttery deliciousness. Mink Lungs (rock!), Hank Williams, spacey sounds, nice!

Thu. 7/23/09 1:15pm From: maria L

yes. Love. Angell.

I want him to have huge success, yet I want him to remain the best kept secret. Know what I mean?

Thu. 7/23/09 1:18pm From: Cecile

I do, I do!

Thu. 7/23/09 1:20pm From: anyone to everyone

This is a very good song. Good on you.

Thu. 7/23/09 1:23pm From: BSI

How the hell did it get to be this late?
I've been catching up on all of the Amanda goodness I missed yesterday (meetings during Irwin's show makes the baby Stalin cry)
...just catching up! Juicy Lucy!

Thu. 7/23/09 1:30pm From: anyone to everyone

Thu. 7/23/09 1:32pm From: Scott

Hi A to E - yep, I think it's taking the summer off

Thu. 7/23/09 1:35pm From: anyone to scott williams

i see. i hope it comes back in the fall there.

Thu. 7/23/09 1:46pm From: Chris G

Hey Scott, fun FACTOID!

Heard you talking up Popol Vu before......

DID YOU KNOW they named themselves after the Mayan creation myth that tells of a group of "footballers" in an intense game of pre-historic jai alai using the heads of vanquishd competitors as a ball?

Do you care?

They created our universe as the story goes... I have an animated documentary thatt tells the story.

Thu. 7/23/09 1:50pm From: Scott

Hi Chris G! Sure, I knew all about that Mayan Creation Myth, but I was sketchy on the details.

Thu. 7/23/09 2:02pm From: Cecile

Is this rastakraut disc still in print?

Thu. 7/23/09 2:04pm From: Cecile

can you play "it's an attack" by Was/Not Was? Another good burning city song

Thu. 7/23/09 2:05pm From: brock

Thu. 7/23/09 2:07pm From: Cecile

excellent

Thu. 7/23/09 2:09pm From: Cecile

oooh, Kompakt 10 is out...

wow, that was released almost 30 years ago? It still sounds fresh.

Thu. 7/23/09 2:11pm From: anyone to everyone

they dont make music like this anymore eh? or do they?

Thu. 7/23/09 2:23pm From: Cecile

My favorite scream is the one that opens up Mutiny by the Birthday Party

Thu. 7/23/09 2:23pm From: ec

Best screams? Play some Baby Huey & the Babysitters!

Thu. 7/23/09 2:24pm From: dc pat

the Cynics, Cry Me a River = Best scream EVER.

Thu. 7/23/09 2:24pm From: Chris

Subway Song by the Cure has that great surprise scream at the end.

Thu. 7/23/09 2:24pm From: Cecile

the Sonics, their songs are all best screams

Thu. 7/23/09 2:26pm From: dc pat

right on Cecile, Roselie is my favorite screamer by far.

Thu. 7/23/09 2:27pm From: ec

More specifically, Baby Huey's version of "A Change is Gonna Come." That's a good one.

Thu. 7/23/09 2:31pm From: Glenn L

Big Jesus Trash Can by the Birthday Party.

You can almost hear his vocal cords bleeding.

Thu. 7/23/09 2:31pm From: Lukas

Other good screams: Linda Sharrock on "Black Woman", more specifically "Portrait of Lina in Three Colors, All Black", and Patty Waters' version of "Black Is The Colour..."

Thu. 7/23/09 2:34pm From: Cecile

I think that Immigrant song should be excluded. It's wordless singing on the beat, and not that screamy.

Thu. 7/23/09 2:35pm From: a guy in a chair in a cube, screaming.

Blixa Bargeld on “Seele brennt”

Sounds like a teakettle on the boil

Thu. 7/23/09 2:35pm From: Lukas

Sainkho?

Thu. 7/23/09 2:36pm From: Adam / Ladyfingers

Great make-out music.

Thu. 7/23/09 2:36pm From: Cecile

yes, cube dude
also on Dustiges Tier

Thu. 7/23/09 2:36pm From: Screaming Man

I think the wailing in Deep Purple's "Child In Time" should get a mention.

Thu. 7/23/09 2:37pm From: Ne-guh-tor

Who let the witch into the porno?

Thu. 7/23/09 2:39pm From: AnAnonymousParty

Did I not hear any moaning from Aphrodite's Child 666 album, track '∞'?

Thu. 7/23/09 2:39pm From: jeremy the listener

a collection of screams... that woke me up from my mid-day duldrums. awesome

Thu. 7/23/09 2:39pm From: Screaming Man

Hey Scott, how about that screaming mom you featured a while back? Still have that clip?

Thu. 7/23/09 2:39pm From: Cecile

okay, it's a good logical breaking point here.

See ya in a while!

Thu. 7/23/09 2:47pm From: Screaming Man

OMFG thanks, Scott! She sounds a bit like Joan Cusack, doesn't she?

Thu. 7/23/09 2:47pm From: anyone to everyone

my lord this is pure evil

Thu. 7/23/09 2:47pm From: GP

Mom...ah the memories...where did you get our home recording from?

Thu. 7/23/09 2:48pm From: jeremy the listener

Thu. 7/23/09 2:49pm From: Charles

Scott, this one is the ULTIMATE SCREAMER

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBVmfIUR1DA

Can you stream the audio over the air?

Thu. 7/23/09 2:49pm From: Screaming Man

Pure marriage material, right here.

Thu. 7/23/09 2:51pm From: GP

not really....this sounds like an episode of "Cops"

I can't beliieve how calm he is..is this or real or some kind of preformance art?..She must be really fun when she is drinking.

Thu. 7/23/09 2:51pm From: Ne-guh-tor

Beware the audio recording device!

Thu. 7/23/09 2:56pm From: jneil

No James Brown? (or did I miss it)

There's some screams in the last minute of the long version of Cold Sweat (off Foundations Of Funk) that sound like a pig going through a woodchipper (and I mean that in the best possible way...)

Thu. 7/23/09 2:56pm From: anyone to scott williams

great show dude

Thu. 7/23/09 2:57pm From: Scott to Anyone

Thanks a lot bruh.

Thu. 7/23/09 2:59pm From: Charles
