Great as always, Fabio! Please ask JGT about his thoughts on how he was credited on the "Honeymoon in Red" album.

Wed. 6/17/09 8:22pm From: Julz

Wow... look at all of us losers glued to the internet for the night... we all need to get a hobby!

Whats really weird is that I'm listening to this and I'm also watching last night's episode of Conan O'Brien on DVR, and they're playing with wax dummies of 'The Fonz' & Tom Cruise. Plus I'm tweaking a logo in Illustrator... a very interesting soundtrack for this!

Wed. 6/17/09 8:25pm From: G

I'm doing online work. Most people on comments are also doing something else while listening! Who knew!

Wed. 6/17/09 8:26pm From: Less Lee

But...this is my hobby! ;P

Hi Daniel!

Wed. 6/17/09 8:36pm From: hellbilly13

Oddly enough, I'm eating cold food.

Wed. 6/17/09 9:02pm From: JGT

Wed. 6/17/09 9:04pm From: woohoo!

Wed. 6/17/09 9:05pm From: Wade Banks

FABIO: can you please ask Mr. Thirlwell if we will hear more from Baby Zizanie?

Wed. 6/17/09 9:13pm From: wound fan

Stapleton hated Insect & Individual Silenced, and allegedly destroyed the masters. There's a bootleg CD that's been around for a while, and it has since been released in a reworked version. Read wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insect_and_Individual_Silenced

Wed. 6/17/09 9:14pm From: hellbilly13

Ask Mr. Thirwell about Lydia Lunch ...eventually

Wed. 6/17/09 9:16pm From: worth recalling

"Yeah failure, that's what Venture Bros. is all about. Beautiful sublime failure." —Doc Hammer

Wed. 6/17/09 9:17pm From: Julz

No, don't ask about Lydia... some of that shit is personal... and, its pretty obvious anyway.

Wed. 6/17/09 9:18pm From: WarHellRide

"The piece Te Deum is inspired by Bunuel's classic Exterminating Angel, which was my favorite film at the time. It was recorded for a cassette compilation called Bethel, which was compiled and released by John Balance of Coil. The whole rhythm track is made with prepared piano and toy piano. Te Deum was a hymn played in the film, (although this is not a cover version of that hymn), but I also like the wordplay on "te deum -> tedium". The piano was prepared with alligator clips attached to the strings and thumbtacks in the hammers, objects placed between some strings with others damped with gaffer tape. The organs detune from each other by changing the varispeed while recording. On this track, like "Sick Minutes", a lot of the parts cycle in different time signatures so they never intersect at same point. There are a lot of concrète sound effects spun in. Before sampling technology was introduced I used to spin in sounds from prepared cassettes, and use tape loops, or "play " sounds onto tape using pause buttons on cassette machines. Some of my tracks like "What Have You Been Doing" and "I'll Meet You In Poland Baby" were constructed almost totally with effects, loops and sounds and very few live instruments. When sampling became available, I embraced it as it was a new way to do what I had been doing - organize sound.
I tracked down the screenplay of Exterminating Angel which was the source of the dialog quotes - "vulgarity, violence and dirt", "in a few hours he'll be completely bald". The "baa" sounds represent the sheep which the inhabitants see while entrapped in the room. This track and its companion, "Piano Piece", were noisy because they were mixed to cassette. At the time I figured it was for a cassette release, so why bother mix to tape? But Fred Kevorkian has done an amazing mastering and restoration job on this album."

Wed. 6/17/09 9:20pm From: Julz

I have Exterminating Angel on tape, but I've never gotten around to watching it. I really need to get on that already...

Wed. 6/17/09 9:21pm From: Less Lee

Yes! Bunuel's movies are fantastic.

Wed. 6/17/09 9:26pm From: hellbilly13

Don't mean to pry,Julz, my question is about the way he was credited on the Honeymooni n Red album,(one of my favorites). I think La Lunch shortchanged hi

Wed. 6/17/09 9:30pm From: Julz

The credits on 'Honeymoon in Red' had several panties in a bind... perhaps its scab that should be left unpicked. :)

Wed. 6/17/09 9:31pm From: Debian Cafe

I say ask whatever you want - he can demur if desired. This isn't Iran.

Wed. 6/17/09 9:38pm From: Julz
