Tue. 3/31/09 9:30am From: Hugh

'Morning Jason, and fellow listeners,

Do any of you kids remember the 'FMU great "The Duck"?
His name name was Lou D'Antonio. RIP to a great broadcaster, he died on Saturday. He was one of the EARLY freeformers. He will be Remembered, fondly.

Tue. 3/31/09 9:32am From: Mr. Two-Arms

Sightings is going to ROCK the FMA Launch Party...can't wait.

Tue. 3/31/09 9:32am From: Parq

Hugh, *stunned* to hear the news. I started listening in '79, and remember the Duck well. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

Tue. 3/31/09 9:40am From: Jason

WFMU is setting up a tribute page for Lou "The Duck" D'Antonio

Tue. 3/31/09 9:46am From: clueless in MI

wow, thats blue news...The Duck was my audio mentor circa 1968. My folks thought I was wasting my time "on that junk". Little did they know.

Tue. 3/31/09 9:48am From: Cecile

Hola, all!
PMP, recovering from your fume high?

didn't know the Duck, but it's always sad when the pioneers pass.

Tue. 3/31/09 9:52am From: Cecile

Timmy Lampinen?
that's good Finnish name - wonder if he's from the UP

Tue. 3/31/09 10:00am From: postmanpaul

thanks cecile, all faculties functioning...no longer using that brand of paint. unless its the weekend!
am sorry to hear about the duck, sounds as if he was truly a freeform frontiersman.

Tue. 3/31/09 10:14am From: megisi

Timmy's Organism ... yeah, I read that wrong. yeah, I'm an idiot.

Tue. 3/31/09 10:23am From: Cecile

You read it as Timmy's Origami? ;D

Tue. 3/31/09 10:23am From: uptheladdermanpaul

jason, no matter how h y p n o t i c your h y p n o t i c hold over me may be, i must summon up my senses and start focusing on repairing 'The Rotting Victorian Window Frames.'
ah, vacations!

Tue. 3/31/09 10:24am From: jason

Tue. 3/31/09 10:25am From: Cecile

Tue. 3/31/09 10:26am From: postmanpaul

Tue. 3/31/09 10:27am From: backdrifting

Tue. 3/31/09 10:54am From: Jøe Steele

Going! Yay me.

Tue. 3/31/09 10:54am From: tom

Jason,
While with the exception of a few pieces played, you've been playing some exceptional stuff, since I've tuned just after 10am. Have no real idea what you've been playing and can't really match it up with the play list but, some real interesting whacky stuff. Bravo.

Tue. 3/31/09 10:57am From: Carmichael

Speaking of Oxygene, I just read that Maurice Jarre passed away. Someone enlighten me as to the relationship with Jean Michael Jarre.

Tue. 3/31/09 10:58am From: Cecile

Maurice Jarre was Jean Michel's uncle

Tue. 3/31/09 10:59am From: esch oder anarchie!

Re the word "frak": it's the f-word in the BSG universe.

Tue. 3/31/09 11:00am From: Carmichael

Thanks. He was in his 80s, so he lived a long and fruitful life. Congratulations to him. As for the nephew, I've always found Equinoxe to be every bit as pleasant as Oxygene.

Tue. 3/31/09 11:01am From: TD

Prince Rama of Ayodhya are from Boston

Tue. 3/31/09 11:02am From: Cecile

I actually like Equinoxe better.

I heard both way too much in my teens, but now I quite like them again.

Tue. 3/31/09 11:03am From: Carmichael

Same with me. Played the hell out of 'em, put 'em away *forever*, and recently rediscovered how good they are. Same with Tomita's The Planets.

Tue. 3/31/09 11:04am From: Pearlÿ Sweets

I could go right to sleep with this Ariel Pink Jammy-Jam. House Arrest is perfect all the way through. But doesn't this song have some "questionable material" in the break down?

Tue. 3/31/09 11:05am From: Carmichael

Is it just me, or have I heard a LOT of Ariel Pink, Negativland and Wooden Shjips here lately? Not that it's a bad thing. I'm just sayin' ....

Tue. 3/31/09 11:07am From: Pearlÿ Sweets

I have too Carmichael. The Wooden Shjips appears to be in the new bin, so that isn't too weird. But I guess Ariel Pink and Negativland are making their big comeback!

Tue. 3/31/09 11:07am From: Parq

{BSG universe}

Tue. 3/31/09 11:08am From: Cecile

Battlestar Galactica

Tue. 3/31/09 11:09am From: Cecile

Carm, ITA. It's good so far. Lots of Gui Boratto, too.

But you know what I could hear? Something from that first Jonny Polonsky disc.

Tue. 3/31/09 11:09am From: Jason

I'm just looking forward to seeing Ariel Pink on Thursday, I'll have to hold off on playing the new recordings I plan to pick up o'er the air

Tue. 3/31/09 11:11am From: Parq

"Ariel Pink on Thursday" would be a good name for a play. One of those talky four-character straight plays where the charactrers drink martinis and accuse one another of emotional fascism.

Tue. 3/31/09 11:16am From: Cecile

I've been thinking a lot about Jawbox lately, too.

Tue. 3/31/09 11:16am From: d¢ pät

aahhh, ya gotta love Les Georges.

Tue. 3/31/09 11:18am From: Pearlÿ Sweets

The latest Ariel Pink track I heard is great. "Can't Hear My Eyes". It is actually hi-fi and sounds like a lost summer jam.

Tue. 3/31/09 11:18am From: gumby

This 2 hot dogs with mustard is making me hungry

Tue. 3/31/09 11:19am From: Jason

i'm hungry too gumby

Tue. 3/31/09 11:25am From: Parq

Jason's post begs the response, "I'm hungry, dammit."

Tue. 3/31/09 11:26am From: GP

Here, listening quietly today..everyone have a great day.

Tue. 3/31/09 11:32am From: AnAnonymousParty

This is the worst intro to "Hot for Teacher" ever.

Tue. 3/31/09 11:37am From: stingy d

let's all be hungry!!!!!

Tue. 3/31/09 11:37am From: fishmonkeystew

I'm freakin' starving!

Tue. 3/31/09 11:38am From: Paul Revere

I'm hungry for those good things, baby.

Tue. 3/31/09 11:38am From: Carmichael

I already am. And it's only 8;30 in the friggin' morning. What's for lunch?

Tue. 3/31/09 11:39am From: Mark Lindsay

Hungry through and through ...

Tue. 3/31/09 11:39am From: annie

just finished a chicken potato curry breakfast with two eggs over medium... yummy...

Tue. 3/31/09 11:39am From: annie

,mark!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tue. 3/31/09 11:39am From: Jason

this room temp coffee is staving off massive hunger

Tue. 3/31/09 11:40am From: d¢ pät

my boss is "taking me out to lunch"...I'm not so hungry...

Tue. 3/31/09 11:40am From: still b/p

Need a whole lotta lunch...doodoom, doodoom,
Need a whole lotta lunch...

Tue. 3/31/09 11:41am From: stingy d

i made a very nice grilled cheese yesterday. gouda and cheddar with beer-mustard on a white rye. also i made a duck-egg and cheese for breakfast using the same ingredients but adding two duck eggs.

Tue. 3/31/09 11:42am From: donnald

ducks have eggs?

Tue. 3/31/09 11:42am From: still b/p

That reads like porn to a hungry man...

Tue. 3/31/09 11:43am From: stingy d

i bought a baguette and some prosciutto, speck, and sopresatta, i have 3 kinds of mustard.... let's eat!!

Tue. 3/31/09 11:43am From: Adrien

dc Pat Ask him for a raise!!

Tue. 3/31/09 11:43am From: annie

stingy, you are the cook for me.. that is wonderful!!! love duck eggs.

Tue. 3/31/09 11:43am From: Carmichael

Stingy, you're on a grilled cheese bender lately, eh? Do you put a tomato slice in it, or have tomato soup as an accompaniment?

Tue. 3/31/09 11:45am From: stingy d

i have been mowing down grilled cheeses like mad, it's true. but i actually have not been using this tomato ingredient you speak of. but chances are this grilled cheese grind is going to be over soon.

Tue. 3/31/09 11:45am From: annie

woodstove is goin out .had to grab that last cuppa hot java

Tue. 3/31/09 11:45am From: Cecile

oh, jeezz, now I'm hongry

Tue. 3/31/09 11:45am From: doug

just made an omelet with mushies, swiss, scallions and tarragon. mmmm. tasty.

Tue. 3/31/09 11:46am From: annie

call me a radical and ban me from the sand box but i will never add tomato to a grilled cheese, not even in the same room!!

Tue. 3/31/09 11:46am From: stingy d

i need some fig paste. i am realizing.

Tue. 3/31/09 11:47am From: annie

i miss cheese soooo bad....

Tue. 3/31/09 11:48am From: Cecile

I love both tomato and tomato soup with it.
but not all the time.

Tue. 3/31/09 11:48am From: fishmonkeystew

And cheese misses you too, Annie.

Tue. 3/31/09 11:48am From: stingy d

i'm with you annie, i think the tomato gets too beaten up in the grilled cheese process. the soup would be fine, but actually in the sandwich is not so much to my liking.

Tue. 3/31/09 11:49am From: annie

ok, i concede a nice cream of tomato using real cream and adding a dash of salt

Tue. 3/31/09 11:49am From: stingy d

anyone got a quick idea on what should i do with my fancy meats? (pause)

Tue. 3/31/09 11:51am From: Cecile

grill the meat lightly. then put some cheese on it in bread, then grill the sandwich. Some thinly slice pepperoncini would be nice on that.

Tue. 3/31/09 11:51am From: annie

stingy, you serious?? do you know what you just did?? wrap em in gauze and marinate til tender.?

Tue. 3/31/09 11:53am From: stingy d

when it comes to food i am always very serious. however i don't have gauze. so far cecile is winning the race.

Tue. 3/31/09 11:53am From: annie

i have a sunday semi-ritual with a friend. we get bagels, lox, liverwurst and cream cheese, proscuitto, & butter and eat till the cows come home..oh and very strong coffeee......

Tue. 3/31/09 11:54am From: annie

in all seriousness, i would add some manouri cheese to the meats.. fine salty greek sheep cheese; like buttah!

Tue. 3/31/09 11:55am From: stingy d

i have given up coffee, and bascially all caffeine. but i think i would take it back for a nice sunday tradition like that.

Tue. 3/31/09 11:55am From: Carmichael

Cube, skewer with some veggies or pineapple, quickly grill and marinate with lemon juice, olive oil, cinnamon and nutmeg.

Tue. 3/31/09 11:56am From: Carmichael

You'll attract every Lebanese within 20 miles.

Tue. 3/31/09 11:56am From: annie

stingy for you we would have tea. and the nyt sunday paper tops it off....

Tue. 3/31/09 11:58am From: stingy d

yea but coffee is so much better than tea!!!

Tue. 3/31/09 11:58am From: the stronger the better

you betcha!!

Tue. 3/31/09 11:58am From: d¢ pät

grilled cheese: parrano, slice of tomato--YES!--thin slice of onion on rye cooked in olive oil, and not butter.

Tue. 3/31/09 11:59am From: d¢ pät

I can't give up coffee--I get the worst withdrawal symptoms.

Tue. 3/31/09 12:01pm From: stingy d

i wish i had more duck eggs....

Tue. 3/31/09 12:23pm From: Sean Daily
