Panel discussion and slide show with graffiti artists EWOK, COPE2 and WEST(FC). Moderated by James and Karla Murray, authors of Burning New York (Gingko Press 2006). This panel will discuss the subculture of graffiti in New York, an art movement that is largely undocumented and often misunderstood. Graffiti techniques, forms, and styles will be examined so that the public can begin to understand its complexity and underlying messages. Its continued influences on the arts and media will be discussed and insight offered on graffiti art's documentation and its future. The pics - all taken by photo-journalists Jim & Karla Murray on a photo expedition I recently accompanied them on in the fine state of New Jersey. All of the pics above were taken at this one famous (to graf artists) buliding in Long Branch NJ and included art by this show's studio guest DEMER.
