WFMU.org freeform college radio
Every type of music you can imagine
Goth, punk, noise, metal, pop, old country, polka, speedmetal Melvins, Tom Jones, Chrome, Merl Haggard, Joy Division, New Order, King Crimson, Bruce Springsteen, 13th Floor Elevators, The Byrds, The Who, Voivod you name it, they got it.
Go to WFMU.org and listen to one of two live streams or check out their archive.
Also fun is put in a name of a band in the WMFU band browser and see the shows it appeared in.
Why do I do this? Because WFMU is free and really truly amazing music available for free.
On the app on your phone you can download 3 hour long shows if you want. All FREE FREEFORM radio. There is NOTHING ELSE like this out there, except for maybe some college radio stations.
Shows (at least 40 or more) to check out:Garbage Time, Irwin, Dianes Kamikazee Fun Machine (metal), John Allen (kinda noisy) , Ken, Feelings with Michele with one L, etc etc etc. The archived shows go all the way back to 2000

Fred it is a bit long, but I thought I had to include brief instructions on how to use the band browser so its kinda like a more humanized Pandora. Gateway drug and all that. One band who is NOT listed on the browser is Blues Traveller, so far as I know not played in last 20 years or so. Not saying thats a bad thing, but I saw them at Nightingales bar in Manhattan, talk about tiny town! Wow it was like the size of a hours or smaller. Apartment maybe.

My wife made me buy the Live PCPPEP EP when we first met in 1985. She was cooler than me then. She's still cooler than me, but she doesn't listen to noisy music anymore.

I'm always singing the praises of FMU to my wife. She'll say "This is irritating" and I'll respond, "Yes, but you should of heard what they played before this".

Tom, I can hook you up with the Cincinnati scene. I went to college there. I still have friends there who are connected.

It's the chili dogs in Cincy that makes great bands. That's just my theory.

I bought the PCPPEP when it first came out, knowing next to nothing about Butthole Surfers and was unsure what speed to play it as it said '69 RPMs' on the label.
A life-changing moment.
I'm usually leery of remastered reissues of records I love but I've picked up the new Rembrandt Pussyhorse and it's fantastic.
