It's written quite well. Lots of crossover stories and mentions of the No Wave scene of the late 1970s. It was my entrypoint into the series, so I cannot really contrast it to others within the series. But I will say, if you enjoy Ghost Rider (the comic book source for the song) too, you will especially enjoy it, as it has recurring themes of the rise of the anti-hero as New York was experiencing hardship in the late 1970s.

Because I know that The Damned took a poke at Marquee Moon in the lyrics to the song 'Idiot Box' which makes me think that The Damned didn't think too highly of Television. I don't know of a whole lot of other bands who made lyrical jokes about other bands, but I'll bet people on this Accu know more than I on that.

This is rad. Wish there were more video footage of Coltrane playing with Eric Dolphy. Is Dolphy actually on this cut?

You're right. I don't hear a clarinet or any flute....I thought he might show up on this track eventually. Apparently this was a posthumous release. McCoy Tyner is amazing on piano usually too.

this the correct quote...
There's a famous story where someone asks John Coltrane about Shorter's playing, saying it just sounds like scrambled eggs. Coltrane's reply: “Yeah, but it's the way he scrambles them!” In this new group the quartet finds an even more scrambled way of scrambling the eggs.Mar 26, 2013

Ha. That's sort of what 'Out There' by Eric Dolphy is like at times. I think it's his master work. Even better than 'Out To Lunch'. Just my opinion though. I'm still finding more and more jazz to explore.

been recently exposed to intresting early 70's outings, by 'lesser' players like freddie hubbard, seems electric miles opened ground for others in early 70's
