David (in London):

In the late 80s, horror press Shock Express used to do an annual 24-hour non-stop horror film special at the legendary Scala cinema in Kings Cross called Shock Around the Clock. One year, I think 1988, they showed a film version of Shaun Hutson's 'Slugs', and they had the man himself introduce it. He was borderline apologetic because it was so, so bad. However, the audience loved it on 'so bad it's good' grounds and when he came back out afterwards he was beaming and happy to take credit for it. He had one of the worst mullets I've ever seen, too.

Wull ...the British accent (that isn't too loutish) will always sound to the U.S. American as Old Worldish & have gravitas. @ the same time - your Voice is empathic / sympathetic - what have you. & this is where Horror plays it both ways & really gets inside you ...you Feel along with them. Even the Perps ! :D

James Asher is a cousin to Jane and Peter, Ibulieve. IIRC he played drums in hippy/Gay rights collective Everyone Involved, and appeared on their album Either/Or

Oh blimey, the Sea Devils. I was absolutely terrified of them when I was a child. My dad once tried to comfort me with the classic line, "Don't worry, they're just fishy persons."

Seems to me a lot of the Dr.Who Foes are Post-WWII. Something the Brits really needed to get out of their systems...
