In simplest terms, I think Raph was making fun of him a bit for having a bat from a game that no American gets (because Americans don't know about Crumpets either). If you want to read into it a bit more, it is also maybe a subtle dig at English Colonialism.

Swimming in the Presumpscot River is an off the beaten track attraction. Music venues include Sun Tiki & Aphodion. Tandem Coffee has nice breakfast sandwiches and baked goods, and Zu bakery has great bread & pastries. Lobster rolls can cost $40++
