For a time after the pool collapse and introduction of the pool water into the sinkhole, there was a noticeable increase in slope movement, especially deeper in the sinkhole. The house and building parts broke up further and disappeared. The steeper slope of the chimney or throat of the sinkhole became more apparent. The view of the bottom was still obscured from view at ground level. (2 p.m.)"

1981 was such a different world. I had only the sketchiest idea that the hole had a bowling alley. Local news was not as accessible on a national level as it is today, so we only got the broad strokes in California.
