Scott67:

I was fed it as a Burns' Night Supper, on my Birthday. By a Scotsman in Northern Ireland. Complete with Neeps & Tatties washed down with Whiskey.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27am
Stanley:

mauri - no disgusting Irn Bru or Buckfast for me, or deep fried Mars Bars either. We do have good food, though, despite the stereotypes; oatcakes, tatty scones, porridge, great seafood and beef, smoked salmon etc. etc. And, natch, haggis and Scotch whisky, which I serve up when friends from abroad, visit.
Visitors from abroad *sigh*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27am
Stanley:

Scott - did he serve you whiskey or whisky?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29am

Just was curious, being in NI I thought it could be a marraige of two nations in the spirit of Celtic brotherhood. I once went to NI and had a great time. Loads of local music, good food and I even ate seaweed bread!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37am
Scott67:

Stanley, I lived in Portstewart for 10 months. In the Causeway Coast Backpackers. I managed it when Rick, the Scottish owner was off wandering. Didn't eat seaweed bread. But potato bread was a fave.

Nice one Scott. Sounds great and potato bread (farls) are also a favourite of mine. On my visit, my friend took us to a pub and it was pretty empty, so he enquired whether there would be music that evening. He was assured that around nine things would start up, so we sat at a table next to a regular looking familly. The place started filling up but still no sign of any musicians, stage, or anything until the the folks next to us pulled out instruments and away we went.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53am
Scott67:

Stanley, that was my introduction too. In the first pub I went into was smaller than my living room.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54am
Stanley:

If any lof you fine folks is ever in Edinburgh, let me know and we'll go to a bar that has Hebridean music. The place acts as a home from home for Islanders when they come to the capital. It's great fun unless a piper turns up. It's a pretty small place.
Avatar 4:57am
mauri:

do you know that guy who looks like a chinese old monk. long hair and cool facial hair. plays acoustic guitar and sings in pubs. damn was he called andy?... dont remember. looking like that and strong scottish accent playing tom waits in that pub on cockburn street :D

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21am

mauri - I've been given a wet willy. It might be a local tradition, I don't know. Drug dealers with a sense of humour. Sounds about right. Haste ye back, my friend.
