have u seen the conjunction yet kfhp? its been mostly cloudy here but got a nice pic of earthshine on the waxing crecent moon with jupiter and saturn hanging below.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm

Funny/weird that I instantly recognize Phew's voice, but the only time I saw her live, it was pure electronics with no voice at all (amazing show, anyway)

Olivia, dig-dubbing these sounds, keep ‘em coming!

Too much humidity to get a clear view down in FL, w/o a telescope, they look like the normal Jupiter and Saturn. However, a high pressure is coming through today, so, hopefully it will clear the skies.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm

@nematomorpha, I actually really liked what he had to say about the release on the website, he talks about wanting to make the piece liike a scene of nature, or a dawn chorus, with all the different parts / "voices" working together: www.cafeoto.co.uk...

Howdy Fox! Too cold to be zipping around on the scooter?
Avatar 4:13pm

HyperDose: No idea. I've not been outside in many days! But my apartment is so toasty Ive got some windows open.
Avatar 4:17pm

After literally years of painstakingly going through everything I own and Marie Kondoing the CRAP out of my life, I'm actually pretty much done with all of my projects. I feel so light and free!
Avatar 4:18pm

Fox, lucky you. I am overwhelmed with too much junk around me. want to feel light! Want to feel free!
Avatar 4:19pm

As someone who also hardly ever gets out anymore, I've been doing the same thing. Just took apart my AC and gave it a proper scrub down. I also found my long coiled headphone cable. Feels good to Jordan Peterson your place!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:20pm

yay, fox! towards the start of the pandemic, i threw out some really embarrassing old journals and felt extremely light / fresh afterwards
Avatar 4:22pm

Heidee: I have been so poor for so many years that I turned into a bit of a hoarder. Being sick so often, I also accumulated lots of unfinished projects, frugality done wild! But I've now mended the years of accumulated broken mugs and plates, today I'm dying the clothes that need dying, tonight I'm mending the buttons and stuff!
Avatar 4:23pm

Olivia: oh wow. See, journals are definitely a blind spot for me. I keep all sorts of personal history, even if it's bad. I'm working my way towards the kind of bravery you have!
Avatar 4:25pm

Hyperdose: organizational hack: store wires/cables in toiletpaper tubes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm

@fox, I thought I'd keep 'em forever, but I was so embarrassed looking through them & realized how they've been sort of haunting me and weighing me down for a while, and the process of destroying them was very cathartic
Avatar 4:26pm

Fox: I hear ya. Good for you!
Mh. How to start. Corona has turned me into a hibernating groundhog, I feel soft and cuddly and with lots and lots of precious nuts around me...
Avatar 4:27pm

How do you use the tubes? I usually put like cables in freezer bags or tie them with velcro strips. Easier to stack them in rubbermaid bins.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm
Phillippe Bastille:

@Fox so happy you were able to do that. My wife's late mother could not. She lived in a rather large house full of hoarded stuff. 6 bedrooms -- they had built it with the downstairs as a rental unit but she stopped renting it out because she needed a place to store her crap. When she passed, you could only sleep in two of the bedrooms because of all the stuff, and you had to climb over junk to get to one of the beds. It took three full-size dumpsters and about 40 carloads to Goodwill to get it ready to sell, which wasn't for much since it was so neglected.
Avatar 🍝 Swag For Life Member 4:32pm
Handy Haversack:

Kate's journaling is undiminished, but I think she likes to detail the daily minutiae.

Olivia, is Bruce in the studio?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm

I absolutely have to throw away some stuff like old magazines I'll never read again. I need space for my ever-expanding WFMU T-shirt collection
Avatar 4:36pm

@fred the shirts really do pile up after a few years, don't they? The bumper stickers are my fav. Think I may go for one of them snazzy DJ Premiums next time!
Avatar 4:37pm

Hyperdose: You wind them up, and then can cut a small bit of the tube at the top to hold the end of hte wire, for easy identification. Then you fill a box with the tubes, and they are easy to identify and find!

Avatar 4:41pm

Phillippe - My Aunt who lived in the house she grew up in died a few years ago, and the family had to go through everything. It wasn't THAT bad, but it made me realize how much of a pain it is to go through someone's stuff.
Avatar 4:47pm

@fred You wouldn't happen to be a 2nd generation WoofMooer too? Or just a die-hard lifer?
Avatar 4:49pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm

@HyperDose: I'm neither, I only stumbled upon the station less than 20 years ago (I live in France, and found it by reading a TV mag in a dentist's waiting room, even though I never owned a TV. "Bob"'s will). I like T-shirts though, so I prioritized getting those

WFMU T-shirts are great conversation starters. Though in my experience it mostly works with musicians at their own shows. Best shout out was meeting Mission of Burma in a Paris street that way, and they called me out (I had no idea what they looked like)
Avatar 5:11pm

@Fox That's the most punk rock thing you could do with a WFMU sticker!

Thanks for sharing this selection of music this evening Olivia! Cafe Oto is a truly singular and special place, so many vital memories of listening, hanging, and playing there. May it keep sustaining and thrive!
@northguineahills: agreed! that Wojciech Rusin was a true mystery journey! Dig! A voice new to me too!

I gave my love a story
That had no end...

PARTY GIRLS. makes me think of those dirty little paperbacks folks read back in the 60s. lol
Avatar 5:44pm

@Handy did Ken finally stop torturing you and play the Party Girls intro while you were still in the room?

haha that throat-singing thing was weird ;)

@annette: I think that's the spirit. But really is something Ken is playing these days

@HyperDose, Scott Williams, as is his wont, came to the rescue!

Olivia, I'm gonna say thanks now and embark on feeding the monsters and then us. This was great! Super respect for Cafe Oto, and really very glad that you let us come along on this journey into what they have to share.

Be well, Pastans.
