It comes from a character in an animated cartoon on the Monday thru Friday morning TV Captain Kangaroo Show way back in the late 50s, early 60s. The cartoon was called Tom Terrific who, along with his "mighty dog Mandred," fought the forces of evil, personified by one Mr. Crabby Appleton, who was "rotten to the core." My two younger sisters refused to eat their breakfast or go to school if my mom didn't let them watch Captain Kangaroo every morning. True story!

The voices of the Fab Four were actors, but they did actually play the Beatle recordings when it came time for a song.

	6:36am Listener Bop Monroe: Grundy died of a heart attack in Stockport on 9 February 1993, aged 69. His colleague Michael Parkinson, who worked with Bill Grundy at Granada in the 1960s, described him as: A difficult man to keep sober, but not to produce. He was one of the best front men I ever worked with...At his best he was a superb forensic interviewer...Sadly, as his career drifted, he let drink overwhelm his personality.
