Postwar atmospherica. High bop modernism and Afro-Latin sounds, twilight exotica and soundtrack moods, soul stompers and weepers, hypnotic R&B and blues, mystical '60s pop, lonely country, lonelier rock 'n' roll, instrumental weirdness, electronic creaking. Bringing worlds beyond into the worlds at hand.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13pm Matt from New Orleans:

I wasn’t sure whether you were doing a show tonight or not. Glad I checked. I’ll be back at the top of the hour.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37pm Little Danny:

Yep Matt!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39pm Little Danny:

Hi turkeys, turnkeys, tukes, and Turks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57pm Otis Jive Turkey Fodder:

Hey Hey Danny!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59pm Matt from New Orleans:

One of us, one of us
Gooble gobble, Gooble gobble
We accept her, we accept her
One of us, one of us
That’s all the enthusiasm I could muster for Thanksgiving
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm Matt from New Orleans:

I wouldn’t mind seeing that scene on the flameoscope
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01pm WR:

Whence the phrase jive turkeys?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02pm Otis Jive Turkey Fodder:

WR - Singing Ohio Players here when I think of the term.
Avatar 10:03pm chresti:

Hi Little Danny and flamebeaus!
Avatar 10:03pm Franco Twinkie:

Now, where were we? Oh yeah, dumpster diving.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03pm ARB:

oh yeah, I'll take dumpster diving for a thousand
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm Otis Jive Turkey Fodder:

Diving for goods. I remember there was a dumpster in Reno Nevada in the 90s I used to hit behind a book publisher, so many books with the covers torn off so they could not resell.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm Wendy del Formaggio:

I wanna know what kinda cheese ARB got from dumpster diving. Do tell!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm Aitch:

Flambe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm Matt from New Orleans:

Is the video operational currently?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm ARB:

I got 12 giants tubes of mozzarella, one asiago, one jarlesburg and a blue
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm Otis "Twilight In Turkey" Fodder:

That's a lot of cheese!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06pm ARB:

Cheese freezes well, but I need a deep freeze for all this
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06pm Wendy del Formaggio:

That's a lotta effin' mozzarella! Nice score. Oh, uh... cheese doesn't really freeze that well, unless you don't care about texture once it thaws.
Avatar 10:07pm Franco Twinkie:

One time my father looked at me and after a long pause said "Honestly, sometimes I think you get your clothes out of the trash." I'm like "Hey!" but then I thought, wait a minute I DID get this shirt out if the trash!
  10:08pm Little Danny:

Whoops my playlist PC is having internet problems, should get it updated soon. Sorry!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm ARB:

Other highlights, 5 chocolate bars and a jar of raw honey. They really left me some holiday presents
Avatar 10:08pm coelacanth∅:

hey Danny, blueberries
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm ARB:

Egg nog too, I should enjoy some of that while I listen and comment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Dang, ARB! That's fantastic. The nearest Whole Foods is too far from here, else I'd join you in spirit.
  10:09pm Little Danny:

And same for the Flame-o-Scope
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09pm Otis "Turkey Neck Stretch" Fodder:

Egg nog with a splash of kahlua?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10pm ARB:

Oh yeah!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10pm doctorjazz:

Hey folks!
Avatar 10:10pm chresti:

If the cheese is en tube, does it freeze better?
ARB, score!
Avatar 10:11pm Franco Twinkie:

Doc, can I get you something to eat from the trash?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11pm Otis "Turkey In The Straw" Fodder:

I have never put my cheese curds in the freezer, but I do like them in the fridge after they have been on the counter for a bit.
Avatar 10:11pm coelacanth:

pass the eggnog please
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm WR:

Just keep the tunes coming Danny and we be happy.
Avatar 10:12pm TDK60:

Eggnog?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm Otis "Turkey In The Straw" Fodder:

ARB made it really strong, it's now Kahlua with a splash of eggnog. Yes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Chresti, it depends what you mean by "better." Fresh mozz has a high moisture content, so once it freezes separation will occur and when it thaws it'll be grainy AF. But, the cryovac tube will prevent freezer burn, because no oxygen. So, that is better.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm Otis "Turkey In The Straw" Fodder:

This is really good Danny!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm doctorjazz:

What did you have in mind, Franco? I'm not proud...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14pm Little Danny:

Thanks all, the music you're hearing is mine, I'm just still having problems with my playlist sitch
Avatar 10:15pm chresti:

Ah. cryovac, thanks Wendy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16pm Little Danny:

Okayyyy! Hi everyone! I think I'm good now! FLAME-O-SCOPE™ is operational.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16pm Matt from New Orleans:

That shit colored car is hideous
Avatar 10:16pm chresti:

Digging it, Danny!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm Wendy del Formaggio:

This music has been kick-ass, Danny! Playlist or no, the sounds are great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Last week I learned that Piero Umiliani wrote the song I love from The Muppet Show, "Mah Na Mah Na." It made me happy to know that.
Avatar 10:19pm TDK60:

some of that slippergaze stuff?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm Little Danny:

Hip hip hoooray! Otis, Matt, WR, chresti, Franco, ARB, Wendy, Aitch, coela, tdk, docjazz! The famn damily!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm Little Danny:

Ugh I spoke too soon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm Otis Fodder:

Bringing some of those Sheena Jungle Room vibes to Drummer this eve in chat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm Uncle Michael:

Wendy, have you seen the song in it's original context?
www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm Little Danny:

So weird. I keep losing the connection for like one second but it disrupts the whole Flame-O-Scope
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21pm Otis Tofurkyfodder:

Drummer Stream is 100% solid.
Avatar 10:21pm Franco Twinkie:

Recently some one posted a picture of the Ducks Breath Mystery Theater with a toy robot. I'm "Wait a minute, that's..." Years ago a friend and I put our hand on that robot at the same moment in a dumpster behind the Salvation Army Annex in Pasadena. It would move from his house to mine at regular intervals. He moved to San Francisco and started hanging out with those guys. He said " Yeah that was it. I would lend those guys stuff and then they'd loose it." Fortunately he got the robot back.
Avatar 10:22pm solo mon:

Hey ev one!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm Little Danny:

Hey y'all I'm gonna reboot this computer but it shouldn't disrupt the music. Sorry for the playlist issues!
  10:22pm Carmichael:

Heya Danny and Flamers. I’m full.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm Otis Tofurkyfodder:

That was on my playlist Franco. Ironybread shared a Duck Breath audio file outtake, funny bit. Found that image doing an image search online and it just seemed to fit well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23pm Otis Tofurkyfodder:

SoloooooHeelllOOOoooOOOOOoooOOO
Avatar 10:23pm Franco Twinkie:

That was a great robot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Uncle Michael, now I have! Thank you. That's SO Muppets to do something like that. Haha. Now that I've heard the original, I think I've heard it before when Belinda & Hova used to do their "Greasy Kid Stuff" show here on FMU. I'm pretty sure they used a loop of that as their music bed. But I might be misremembering.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm Uncle Michael:

It really was for that softcore sauna scene.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm Otis Tofurkyfodder:

The documentary film, Sweden Heaven and Hell is fun too, but the soundtrack is the real killer. Love Umiliani and Danny played one I had not heard this eve on the show... another composer with a seemingly endless catalog.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm Wendy del Formaggio:

UM: I see that. That's almost noncore, though. I mean, shoulders ain't no thang.
Avatar 10:26pm solo mon:

Umiliani love him! Mah na mah na was actually inspired by a French pop song by henri Salvador called “mais non mais non” inspired meaning almost exactly the same song!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm Uncle Michael:

Yeah, that's not inspiration. That's plagiarism
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Thanks for the back-story, solo mon. I'll have to look up "Mais non."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm Otis Tofurkyfodder:

Ha yes Solo, love Henri's song. Thanks for bringing that one up... so good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm Uncle Michael:

OK, I'm blowing out the oil lamp. Remember Danny, it's all about the music. Don't sweat the rest. Night all.
Avatar 10:28pm solo mon:

Still think Umiliani is a genius- my fav Italian composer great music little Danny!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm Wendy del Formaggio:

OMG, total plagiarism. It's the same damned song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm Matt from New Orleans:

Cecil McBee is killing the bass
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm melinda:

hi everyone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30pm ARB:

Good night Uncle Michael!
Avatar 10:30pm TDK60:

Night UM.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Good night, UM.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm doctorjazz:

Dessert time, check in again later!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37pm Matt from New Orleans:

Thanks for the Roy Brooks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37pm Aitch:

Sounds are nice, no luck with the Scope though
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm Otis Tofurkyfodder:

Nice to hear your voice Danny! Sounding great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm Otis Tofurkyfodder:

Cheers Uncle Michael!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm Little Danny:

Yeah I'm killing the Flame-O-Scope as I'm still having intermittent issues. I'll run tonight's film programme next week!
  10:43pm Carmichael:

So I guess we’re surfing? Most excellent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm Matt from New Orleans:

I think the sheer unpleasantness of the 1987 Buick Regal messed up the computer
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm melinda:

@Matt haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm Little Danny:

LOL Matt you may be right.
Avatar 10:48pm Franco Twinkie:

Matt, My mom has a 1887 Buick LeSabre. It's a great car. I know 'old person car' you're right about that, but it's so comfortable, and it has a cassette player.
Avatar 10:49pm Franco Twinkie:

Was that the same Billy Mundi who was in The Mothers Of Invention?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm Matt from New Orleans:

I’ve been searching for the car in the video but can only find chestnut brown. That car was a good deal darker brown. It was not a flattering shade.
Avatar 10:50pm coelacanth∅:

wow,great song
Avatar 10:51pm coelacanth∅:

(lonely walk)
  10:51pm Carmichael:

Coati Mundi.
Avatar 10:51pm coelacanth∅:

the regal wasn't too ugly, for an 80s american car
Avatar 10:52pm coelacanth∅:

(i guess that gives it a large allowance!)
  10:52pm Carmichael:

The Riviera was a beast.
Avatar 10:54pm Franco Twinkie:

Oh yeah, The Rievera. A friend in high school had the unlimited use of his dads, Some epic times in that car.
  10:55pm Carmichael:

I need an ascot to listen to this bed music.
Avatar 10:56pm coelacanth∅:

i love the riviera and have since i was a child. The '71 is lovely. all the early '60's models were pretty hot too.
Avatar 10:56pm chresti:

My first car was my dad's 7o-71 Cadillac.
Avatar 10:57pm coelacanth∅:

nice one: external-content.duckduckgo.com...
Avatar 10:57pm Franco Twinkie:

I think I need to be in bed to listen to this music, but I'm gonna stay up 'cause I want to party. I can sleep tomorrow.
Avatar 11:00pm coelacanth∅:

chresti i learned to drive in a 1969 sedan deville with fairly bad tires, worse brakes and totally shot suspension.
Avatar 11:00pm Franco Twinkie:

Coel, The Riviera we misbehaved in was a '68.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00pm ARB:

I drive 85
Avatar 11:02pm coelacanth∅:

oh those had that weird grill-lights too close together arrangement! must've been a beast though
Avatar 11:02pm coelacanth∅:

...(as Carmichael said)
  11:02pm Carmichael:

The Riviera had opera windows (sort of), no?
Avatar 11:02pm coelacanth∅:

ARB i can't drive 85
  11:03pm Carmichael:

Thinking of a vinyl hardtop with little back windows, maybe 71?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm Little Danny:

I have driven across the country in a Toyota that maxed out at 60 mph. Rockies got hectic.
Avatar 11:05pm coelacanth∅:

'sure you're not thinking of the pontiac grand prix"
Avatar 11:06pm coelacanth∅:

(or a continental mkIII?)
Avatar 11:06pm chresti:

I drove 85 in a rental car a few times, on I-5 to the Bay Area, when it was possible.
  11:06pm Carmichael:

Could be, not sure.
Avatar 11:06pm Franco Twinkie:

Coel, one time him and me and these four hippie girls from school did over a hundred in the rain on the 101 at night in while we were smoking pot. Some how we didn't get popped or killed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07pm ARB:

Oh sorry, my 1985 car could never get up to 85mph, it doesn't even have power steering
Avatar 11:11pm coelacanth∅:

i rarely go over 79mph, because that 1 extra mile per hour puts me in the next point bracket.
i haven't been pulled over in years though. i have hawk eyes.
...actually i guess they're more like owl eyes.
Avatar 11:11pm chresti:

I drove an 85 VW Golf diesel.
Avatar 11:12pm coelacanth∅:

(there are no 75mph speed limits here; 65 is the fastest)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15pm Matt from New Orleans:

I like this dude’s name
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16pm Matt from New Orleans:

I was really hoping his mama named him Pinocchio but alas he was christened Cornelius
Avatar 11:17pm chresti:

I think it's 70 on the I-5.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17pm Otis Tofurkyfodder:

I can't drive 5. I walk about 3 mph.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18pm WR:

Pinnochio James had a big nose. Hence...
Avatar 11:21pm coelacanth∅:

someone once lent me her mercedes diesel - 1977? she warned me it might not start if it gets too cold , and that i has terrible acceleration.
i hate mercedes' in general and i think they're crap, mecahanically; but i have to admit that as long as i plugged in the block warmer it started on 0ºf mornings and had decent pick-up, as long as i manually shifted it.
Avatar 11:22pm coelacanth∅:

chresti the golf?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm Little Danny:

OMG Pinnochio James *did* have a big nose.
Avatar 11:22pm coelacanth∅:

was he lying about his mama?
Avatar 11:22pm Franco Twinkie:

In Italy there is no speed limit on the Autostrata. You think you're going fast and then something flashes by and you have no idea what it was. I saw a flatbed loaded with totaled cars. They were twisted shapes of metal like I've seen before, or since.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm Matt from New Orleans:

Deena Johnson is Jo Armstead right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm Little Danny:

@Matt: don't know!
Avatar 11:25pm Franco Twinkie:

never.
Avatar 11:27pm coelacanth∅:

i suppose if i'm to perish in a car crash, instantly is the way to do it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27pm Matt from New Orleans:

@Danny Discogs says so. Not sure why I remembered that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27pm Little Danny:
