David Nance tends bar about a block from my dad's grammar school. I caught him live in Omaha last year in a tiny dive. He was great.

Avant Ghetto and Hits From The Crypt keep my soul feeling good on weekends!
  10:10pm McGroovey:

Interesting take on Tim Buckley. Makes a decent country-rock song. Makes a better, more haunting, Tim Buckley song, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10pm sinner:

Let me down easy.

@ pp -- right?!?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39pm Rory:

Wear some khaki shorts, a pink collared shirt and a golf course in your backyard with tiki torches and consider yourself legit as you sip on cheap beer and ponder the illusion of the American dream :D

  10:55pm Carmichael:

@slugluv, there’s a tribute out there with some amazing covers. David Byrne does I’ts Just the Motion, for example.
Swag For Life Member 10:57pm zzz:

wondering if this is the first time widespread has been played on fmu (fun jam btw)
Avatar 10:57pm Hams:

jeff, i'd check out spread's shows with fiddler david blackmon if you get the chance. some of their best bootlegs. late '90s. great cover of tuna's "genesis".
Avatar 10:58pm Jeff Conklin:

@Hams: Will do.

To be young again dept: A friend won tickets to see Widespread Panic at The Roxy in Hollywood. We were working on stage a mile or so away. After a Fifteen hour day we went to the show, smoked a ton of weed, went home, and were back on set at 7:00 am. I would die if I tried that today.
Avatar 11:02pm slugluv1313:

thanks, Carmichael!
yes, just searched -- from 1994! again, how did i miss this?!
  11:04pm Carmichael:

Gerry Goffin and Carole King. Thanks for playing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm Rory:

I’ll never forget Sonic Youth playing for free under the St.Louis arch. It was in the 70’s in late July and Thurston asked “is the weather always this good here?“ No! But the crowd cheered yes and it was a good night! They even played songs from Evol and Bad Moon Rising. I asked fellow peeps if they liked Jerry Garcia and the response was positive. I read Lee Ranaldo was a Grateful Dead fan! Tangent...

  11:13pm Carmichael:

Is my youth misspent? Probably just spent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm chris_in_space:

That Sands of Time "Sanctuary" track sounded an awful lot like a younger Burton Cummings on vocals. Just sayin'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16pm chresti:

Wow Rory.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16pm Rory:

Actually it was July 17th www.setlist.fm...
Avatar 11:18pm mb:

Hola Jeff and fellow Conklinites

To hear “Space Wrangler” on the way back from a day ‘down the shore’ and to hit a DUI stop that I had to go thru TWICE in order to get to my friends apt... it was a highlight of summer 2020. Thanks Todd Nance
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18pm mariano:

Rory - that is so cool! For a second I thought you meant the 70s as in the decade, I was like "Songs from BMR and Evol in the 70s?" :p
  11:20pm Carmichael:

Nice maneuvering mb.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20pm chresti:

Thanks for the music, Jeff! Getting off the chat to get to bed, good night everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm Rory:

2009 was the 70’s in my mind now! I was just a pup at 19!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm Rory:

Now I’m 30. Oldie locks here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm chris_in_space:

@Rory when 30 year-olds say they're old, it makes me feel old.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25pm Chop Scott:

Enjoying the show tonight as ever Jeff. David Nance--solid live set at WFMU on Matt Warwick's Garbage Time: www.wfmu.org...
Avatar 11:25pm slugluv1313:

@ Rory, @ mariano -- hah! yup that is what i thought at first too -- 1970s?!?
Avatar 11:26pm slugluv1313:

good night, chresti!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26pm mariano:

Pshhh, 30. Get off my lawn!

'Night chresti.
Avatar 11:28pm slugluv1313:

oooooo if 30 is "old," i am a certified fossil jejeje
  11:28pm toots:

I love this show. Thank you friend.
  11:28pm Carmichael:

Thirty is nothing. Happy birthday. When you’re 31, you’ll understand.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29pm Rory:

Ask people in their 20’s or 30’s if your old at 30 the reactions are mixed! I don’t judge by age.
Avatar 11:31pm Jeff Conklin:

thanks, toots
  11:36pm Carmichael:

My kids are creeping up on 30.
  11:38pm Carmichael:

Ok, clicky starring this.
  11:50pm Matt in Vlacke Bos:

Thirty was a bigger deal than 40. But I’m kinda apprehensive about 50
Avatar 11:51pm slugluv1313:

this Rootless is gorgeous -- and i love the album title "Docile Cobras"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Good evening, Jeff and children of all ages.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55pm Rory:

Thanks Jeff, Scott and WFMU lovers! USA psychopathy, yeah boy!!
Avatar 11:56pm slugluv1313:

age is so weird -- true, when i hit 30, it was sorta . . . traumatic?
(and even waaay back in high school, we would joke about how one would be "halfway over the hill" when s/he turned 15 -- but, that was in the 70s, remnants of the 60s' "Generation Gap," "Don't Trust Anyone Over 30" attitudes still kinda hung around)
now that i am looking at 62 in January, i am like -- WTF??? (especially considering all the crap i did to my much younger self) how did THAT happen??!!
Avatar 11:57pm slugluv1313:

ahhhhh Jack Rose :)
thanks so much, Jeff and Skeletons, for another beautiful blissful show
Avatar 11:58pm Jeff Conklin:

Thanks for listening. Goodnight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58pm mariano:

50's no biggie. I had a harder time at 25 tbh.

slugluv: You're a January baby? Same here!

Thanks Jeff!
Avatar 12:00am slugluv1313:

@ mariano -- cool!
