If we weren't supposed to play derivative records, we'd only be able to play ten records.

Which ones?

Original Dixieland Jazz Band

some early country record (which?)

NOT Louis Armstrong (derivative of ODJB)

Something from the early Swing era (what?)

Rocket 88

A Beatles record c.1963

Sgt. Pepper

Hmmmmm that might cover it.
