@Michael 98145, my folks were both Polish, Holocaust survivors (the whole 9 yards), emigrated to Sweden after the war (separately, and met there), and I was born there, then they came to the US. Greeneh, or Greenhorns, was how they referred to each other (half affectionately, half disparaging)

I find it the American hyphenated identities and heritage claims interesting, especially with its two outliers: I've never heard of someone claiming to be English-American, and of course the lack of specificity of African-American. Both say a lot about American history
