Can I share a little bit of deep despair, absolutely minor with what is going on but an artist close to our heart, Irene, had a new album pencilled in for a release last Friday. Steven Wilson has now delayed that until next January. A minor, minor problem I know but | was so looking forward, a new album from this maestro is an event.
  12:12pm
Alan Cynics:

Found you no problem today.....lovely start :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm
Irene Trudel:

Aww, that is a shame Sean. As you know I'm also a big fan. Everything these days is on a big delay, so we'll just have to be patient!

Ah, that's great Alan! I'll try to make it plain each time I post about a new show. Glad you're able to join us all. And 'hi" doctorjazz!

Hello Irene and gentle folks.

Sean, people have been trying for years to get Colston's statue removed?

Hello from Vermont to Irene & everyone. Running a bit late and almost forgot to log in. Hope your days run well all week. It's crazy out there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm

Sean I haven't read it but will later (presumably about the statue dumped into the river). And hello to you, Brian and gongoleer! Trying to keep sane through the music.

Nice vibe here. For while, it was the safer option than returning to Brooklyn! Now one must be more careful. My second home. Wonderful cultural world here. Thanks for asking!

This Lang and Basho remind me of a show I attended in the late '80s or early '90s at Covina's Fret House featuring a 12-string picker who was something of a Kottke acolyte. Just can't remember his name!

Not Bikoff... I recall that on the day of the show I was listening to KPFK when they announced the appearance. I thought, "I got nothing to do tonight. I'll check it out." Nice venue, kind of a tiny McCabe's.

Malcolm, Last year I saw Derek Gripper at Zankel Hall with a wonderful Malian trio whose name is escaping me at the moment. His imitations of the Kora are astonishing! Also, I had the pleasure of meeting and engineering a session with Guy Buttery for New Sounds a couple of years ago. (A really nice guy) Both of them jaw-droppingly good!

Hi chris and Maggie B! Beyond the Missouri Sky is one of my go-to albums when I need something beautiful and calming. Maggie, I think it's about 3 months WFH for me as well. Gonna be a while longer I'm afraid. At least, thanks to our lead Drummer, Doug, I have this show to look forward to.

So maybe I have a little too much sun but it’s recycling collection tomorrow. Three bins dedicated to food leftovers, beer cans, (since the lockdown my beer empties has been a little embarrassing), newspapers, plastic. Huge thanks goes to the guys who have been collecting. How are folks doing with recycling, are you a tad embarrassed by the bottles of wine, beer etc that you have put out. Totally random stream here, profuse apologies for my off kilter moment!

It's wine bottles for us. They pile up, since pickup is only every other week whereas trash is picked up weekly. Seems bacward to me.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm
Stanley:

Sean - I'm intrigued about your beer. Is it from Bristol?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:31pm

Sean, though it pains my physician to hear, i have no shame about my part in the recycle bin contents: bottles of wine, beer, whisky.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm
Stanley:

I'll hit bandcamp on Friday.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:34pm
chris:

Stanley, i'm currently enjoying an early dad's day gift of a bottle of Michel Couvreur whisky. single malt distilled in Scotland, then aged in very, very old sherry casks in a cave in France. exquisite.
Avatar 🥁 2:34pm
βrian:

Our birds start piping up around 4:30.
  2:35pm
Sean in Bristol, UK:

@Stanley, we are or were going craft brewery crazy over here, kind of mirroring the beer scene that has exploded in the US over the last ten years plus. We tend to go for a sane level of ABV. Not the 7% plus that is appreciated across ‘the pond’ which I am a huge fan of, hops coming out of your ears. I have a Brewery up the road from me, Twisted Oak, ticks all the boxes
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:36pm
Michael 98145:

salutations from the land of hops
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:38pm
chris:

picked up a half gallon growler of Blind Pig IPA from Russian River Brewing Company over the weekend. very hoppy, floral nose. very light color. slightly bitter. 6%. also exquisite. embarrassment of riches, truth be told.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm
Stanley:

chris - wow! I looked it up. He imports the single malt and finishes the ageing in sherry casks. i saw the price too. You have generous child(ren). And, of course, you deserve it.
I love sherry cask single malt. Happy Father's Day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm
Irene Trudel:

βrian, that may be happening here. My cat is quite aware of bird activity. i just try to ignore it until I see the sun starting to come up.
  2:41pm
Malcolm:

Got more music in my bandcamp wishlist than I realistically have time to listen to or money to spend on, but will definitely be purchasing some records on friday
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm
Stanley:

Hi Sean - I'm up in edinburgh and the scene has gone ape over the last few years. My man gets Verdant, whic I think is from Bristol. Twisted oak, I do not know but I'll enquire. And yes, juicy IPAs for me too (and big percent imperial stouts)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm
Stanley:

My favourite East Coast breweries are Trillium from Massachusetts and Other Half from Brooklyn, who, incidently are doing a colabs with UK breweries to raise money for independents, who are struggling. Check ii out, if you can. During lockdown my guy has made a small fortune.
  2:49pm
Dean:

Really enjoy Blind Pig, sometimes more so than Pliny the Elder. But fave is still Pliny the Younger. These days, though, my neighborhood Gilman Brewing Co. triple IPA, Missouri Lean (10%abv) does the trick. Hey, I bet Charlie Haden (RIP) and Pat Metheny would enjoy Missouri Lean, too!
Avatar 2:51pm
gongoleer:

Here in So. VT. we have McNeills, an award winning brewery and Hermit's Thrush, a Belgium style brewery. Great both of them. In my small town of 12,000 there are 4 indie breweries. We get lots of NY and other out of state tourists who come for the Vt state brewery tours.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm
Stanley:

I find TIPAs to be a bit too sweet but they can be very elegant, if nicely balanced.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:53pm

will need to get over there, Dean. thanks for the tip. Pliny the Younger is truly exceptional.
and, cheers, Stanley! :)
