Hello.
  12:01am $mall ¢hange:

hiya party ppl!
  12:02am Jon:

Yeah it is midnite
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02am mariano:

Can I get a woop woooop wooooop? Hey $mall ¢hange, Scott, folks!
  12:02am BH:

wait... is this the "keyboard typing" remix of "It's Midnight"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02am Aitch:

Ka-ching
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03am mariano:

There we go!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03am Mr. Pumpy:

Hey $mall ¢hange and Scott! Space sounds!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03am Mr. Pumpy:

mariano...how ya doing, bruv?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03am Handy Haversack:

Hey there, $mall ¢hange, Skeleton Skott, all. I should really be hitting the hay, but ... well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04am Mr. Pumpy:

Ha! Yeah...more random voice action! Yes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04am Mr. Pumpy:

We can all hear you...I love it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04am Aitch:

Sounds like you're in a crusty bathroom
Avatar 12:04am JakeGould:

This is flaw.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04am Mr. Pumpy:

YES! This is radio
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04am mariano:

Hey Mr. P!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05am Mr. Pumpy:

Handy, doing the midnight shift!
Avatar 12:05am JakeGould:

Maybe the computer needs a new USB?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06am Mr. Pumpy:

mariano, how's NOLA been treating you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06am Handy Haversack:

Seems to be my week for telling time to go screw, Mr. P.
  12:07am BH:

gonna try to figure out which business would use this as hold music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08am coelacanth∅:

"Acme Exotic Lighting"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08am Ken From Hyde Park:

Might be short a hundred or so feet of ethernet cable, maybe?
Avatar 12:08am JakeGould:

Not the USPS. Ever hear their hold music? Here is there Bandcamp: trackingnumber.bandcamp.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08am coelacanth∅:

hey $¢ and changelings
  12:09am BH:

okay, a USPS hold music album might be better than the Weather Channel releasing a smooth jazz album in the 90s
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09am Mr. Pumpy:

Handy, I'm closing out my first fiscal quarter of that frame of mind.
Avatar 12:10am JakeGould:

Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your 100 feet of Ethernet cable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10am mariano:

Not too bad, Mr. Pumpy, thanks. Been really getting into my various geeky pursuits. How are things going with you and your dad?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11am Mr. Pumpy:

coel! I didn't get to say hello last show. Btw, today's Temp Res offering is one I already own, and enjoy. One of the band members is from a the band Grails. If you haven't already, delve into Grails. They are a gift that keeps giving.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12am Scott Williams:

technical difficulties have been ironed out! Hello Small Change and pals!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12am coelacanth∅:

today's...watter?
-picked it up! yesterday's too
  12:13am dug:

thanks scott. are you holding down the fort tonight?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13am mariano:

Oh man Jake, that USPS Bandcamp thing is brilliant, and what a great way to support the institution!
  12:13am BH:

so, was it a Windows update or an Apple update that was messing with things last night? Another fun night for the WFMU Tech Support crew though
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13am Mr. Pumpy:

mariano...ups and downs. I feel like the neglected spouse sometimes, but I have to keep reminding myself of two things; his compromised state, and the fact that he was never much for a thank you with his family to begin with. Otherwise...I am too getting into pursuits, geeky
and otherwise, and it works! I have my SG and Fender amp over here now...and I'm going to grab my pedal board this weekend.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14am coelacanth∅:

hey Scott!
  12:14am $mall ¢hange:

haha well Rapunzel's cable is 50ft but yes exactly
Avatar 12:14am JakeGould:

@mariano: Support? Dude it is a free download. You think that the USPS is taking Bandcamp donations for canned hold music from whatever vendor they use for their system?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15am neveract:

Hi.. Fantastic tracks! You're the reason I became a donor the last 2 years. I haven't listened in a while and I'm wondering if there's something wrong with my computer, not being too tech savvy. But I keep hearing sounds like from a video game.. is that part of the song? Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15am Mr. Pumpy:

coel, yes...Watter. I don't think I got to yesterday's in time. Good? Again, I can't stress enough that you should check Grails out. One of my favorite instrumental acts. grails.bandcamp.com...
  12:16am BH:

Due to the current uncertain times, the USPS is unable to send their musicians out to play their hold music at bar gigs
  12:17am dug:

>neveract
i think you got $mall ¢hange to double down on his video game repertoire
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18am mariano:

Yeah Mr. P, I'm sure that underneath it all he's really grateful for everything you're doing for him. Love me an SG too, been too long since I've played one. If I pick up an instrument these days it's my Höfner bass -- the cheap one, not the Macca violin bass -- such a nice bubbly sound.

Jake: Oh, I thought it was the actual USPS being all meta and ironic and letting you name your price.
Avatar 12:19am JakeGould:

@BH: Did you see that episode of “Portlandia” with the on hold band in the office? Here! youtu.be...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19am Kelly Jones:

I love how the show started this evening... :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20am neveract:

so it is part of the song? i was thinking somehow a neighbor's bluetooth was bleeding in somehow.
Avatar 12:20am JakeGould:

@KellyJones: Well oiled machine!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21am coelacanth∅:

mariano yes it's "name your price", not "free download". you can support the usps via that bandcamp purchase if you'd like!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21am coelacanth∅:

(i'm not going to!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22am Mr. Pumpy:

This song is so thick, and deep. Yup.
  12:22am dug:

>neveract
:-D
its part of the show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22am Aitch:

Technical difficulties add a certain rustic charm, a rugged authenticity
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23am Mr. Pumpy:

@Kelly...this is radio done right...err...correctly!
Avatar 12:23am Richy4619:

yea ^ i love hearing the synth of things, intended or not
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23am Mr. Pumpy:

"People wont LET ME!" OUTstanding!!!
  12:24am BH:

much like Sim City 2000, the DJ software has a "disasters" tab where a random malady happens (not an actual thing, or is it?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25am coelacanth∅:

Mr.P i've heard grails (on fmu i think...Sue P's show? Bill Mac's?...)
i can't afford their bandcamp offerings now but thanks for the link. bookmarked for better times.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26am mariano:

Wardell Quezergue, what a New Orleans name.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27am neveract:

hmm.. kinda ruins it for me. But to each his own. peace out!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27am Mr. Pumpy:

mariano, thanks man. You are so spot-on there. I try to remind myself of all of that in the heat of the moment(s). It ain't easy, but I know it's true. It doesn't help that the heat has been on, even through a few days that reached 80...and a bit humid. He's always cold and me and the thermometer are both seeing red! Hey, my pops is alive...and ain't nothing wrong with that. I'm just trying to get by, and my venting here from time to time is a help, so I thank you for that. I try to mix it up, but sometimes I can't help it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28am Mr. Pumpy:

mariano, Yes...I love my SG. I'm set up to record over here. I can come up with a click and some riffage if you wan to lay down some bass. Can you record...primitive stuff man. If you can listen on headphones and record in any fashion...could be cool!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29am coelacanth∅:

neveract i agree; but sometimes i seem to barely notice it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30am Mr. Pumpy:

neveract...never even knew ya.
Avatar 12:30am ToTetsu:

I would have had my wheaties for lunch.. is that a cultural reference i don't get. like wheaties were marketed as making you big and strong?
  12:31am BH:

maybe the link was more implied because of all the athletes on wheaties boxes
Avatar 12:31am ToTetsu:

we had the same thing with wheat-bix
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32am coelacanth∅:

ToTetsu yes exactly. "the breakfast of champions"!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32am Mr. Pumpy:

@coel...you can stream for free there, and listen for quite some time. I would suggest Doomsdayer's Holiday and Black Tar Prophecies. I own a bunch of vinyl which I may not have cashed the digital codes in for, if I find any I'll hook you up.
Avatar 12:33am JakeGould:

@ToTetsu: “Wheaties” is supposed to be a healthy cereal, but the reality is it’s just a big pile of fibre. So I guess taking a number two is the closest thing to exercise most Americans get.
Avatar 12:34am ToTetsu:

Thats what they mean by regular exercise right
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34am Mr. Pumpy:

Colon Blow!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34am mariano:

Would love to give it a shot Mr. P, but I need to get a new M-Audio thingy, the one I've had for ages conked out a few months ago and I've been too lazy to replace it. Or some other brand, M-Audio is just what I'm used to.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34am mariano:

If you wants to be happy, you gots to stay regular.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35am Mr. Pumpy:

Jake, there are a lot of muscles involved with a good bowel movement...so I'm sure the argument has been made. Especially in this crazy downside-up world.
Avatar 12:35am JakeGould:

Pretty much 90% of breakfast grain-based stuff that “Gives you energy…” is just sugar with fiber. Get a sugar rush, take a dump, be a champion.
  12:35am Ignore Function:

Just tuning in, but I'm glad to see you started the show with Sonny Knight. Saw that guy several times. Always a good show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36am Mr. Pumpy:

mariano...cool. Or just do it on your phone or something. I'll mix it. It will sound nuts!
Avatar 12:37am northguineahills:

just plopped in ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40am coelacanth∅:

Pumpy that'd be awesome! -if it doesn't happen, i know you tried.
...bandcamp streaming is fine for reviewing and background but it's fairly low-fi. i will listen to those recommendations when i'm back home though. Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41am Mr. Pumpy:

coel, yup...and yup.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42am coelacanth∅:

...and i haven't forgotten about ...
okay, i did forget, but then i remembered...
maybe tomorrow night. i'm going to bed soon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45am mariano:

Er... no amp either, lol. The Höfner's got a hollow body so I can hear it well enough unplugged. I got so used to plugging in via the pre-amp I barely realized I haven't had any kind of amp in ages. If a couple of work projects I'm negotiating come to pass I'm gonna revamp my music setup, long overdue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46am Mr. Pumpy:

mariano...got ya, hence the interface. I may have some old shit I'm not using. I could send it along...whether we record or not. I'll look around.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49am coelacanth∅:

i'd like to figure out how to make a guitar amp out of 2 vintage jbls. (c.1958)
they have some sort of electrical devices wired in, connecting the woofer/mid & the tweeter.
no idea!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50am Handy Haversack:

OK, gonna hit it. Later, pals.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51am coelacanth∅:

'night Handy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51am Mr. Pumpy:

L8r Sk8r
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51am mariano:

'Night Handy.

Oh wow, Mr. P, that's really kind of you, thanks!
  12:52am $mall ¢hange:

nice that's awesome you saw Sonny Knight!

yes...'rugged authenticity' aka freaking out trying to figured out the bs haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52am Mr. Pumpy:

mariano...I may not have anything...but if I do! I'm between three homes at the moment, and I downsized two years ago, so it's a crap shoot. Otherwise, it's all good, brother.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54am Mr. Pumpy:

coel, the missing equation there seems to be the amplifier, of course...but there is also the cabinet, which weighs heavily in the equation. that said, it could be killer with those speakers if done correctly!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55am Aitch:

Amazing there's been so few stuff-ups $mall ¢hange. Fine work. I'm 10,000 miles away. astounded it ever works at all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57am Mr. Pumpy:

SPACE SOUNDS!!!! More!!!!
Avatar 12:57am sinner:

...sounding mighty fine in Alabammy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57am Mr. Pumpy:

sinner in da HAYouzze! How ya livin', brother?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00am coelacanth∅:

i know someone with some heads he's ready to unload. ...he'd know how to rig it too but he's done some favors for me already, in the music department, and i don't want to keep bothering him with shit. we're not that close
  1:00am $mall ¢hange:

sup sinner!!
Avatar 1:02am sinner:

Gettin' by. All this is good for my mentals.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02am mariano:

Hey sinner!
  1:05am JakeGould:

Sinner! You good?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05am Mr. Pumpy:

coel, mariano, you may dig on this as well, I have a great amp guy here in Jersey, Chuck, who used to have a shop the next town over when I was a teen and then I got hooked back up with him in my 30s when he was working out of his basement. He's an amp master and a solid dude. I had been going there for almost a decade since meeting up with him again, and a year or two ago he mentions a gig he has over the weekend. We get to bullshitting and he is telling me about his gig and I ask him the name of his band, anyhow, it turns out that he is the guitar player for Larry Chance and The Earls. Next thing I know his wife is yelling down the driveway fro him to come inside and move some of his shit. Ha! "Life is but a dream" www.youtube.com...
Avatar 1:06am sinner:

mariano: did you ever listen to the Rev Gregory on KAYT? Rev Izear's spiritual hoodoo brother. Many thanks for the tip on that.

JG: coffee??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11am coelacanth∅:

haha i thought you were just saying "life is but a dream" then i thought "the earls...they did..."!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13am Mr. Pumpy:

coel..yeah, they did!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14am mariano:

That's so cool, Mr. Pumpy! Did you get to see them perform?

Yeah, I've been rummaging through the Rev Gregory archives but it's been a few days since the last time, maybe a week? Very happy to pass that along, I just happened to be driving around the Monroe, LA area at the right time on a Sunday ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14am Mr. Pumpy:

sinner is promoting other radio stations. I hope Kenzo is sleeping! Actually...it's what you do, it's in your name! Wait, let me get a pencil... KA what now?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17am coelacanth∅:

it's cool when that happens. i knew one of Bowie's guitarists for a while before i found out he was Bowie's guitarist.
...Life is but a dream!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17am mariano:

Mr. P: I'll email you the clip I have as well, it's a 2-min snippet of Rev Greg Texada from Natchitoches really going full-throttle on some singing during a sermon. Station I heard him on is KAYT, they have a pretty extensive archive: ondemand.kaytfm.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18am mariano:

Y'all wouldn't believe how Natchitoches is actually pronounced, go ahead and take a guess without looking it up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19am coelacanth∅:

my jbls are kinda like these darko.audio...
12" woofers and to be honest i don't remember if they have midrange speakers or not.
...i'm looking for an inside view but having no luck.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22am Mr. Pumpy:

ummm...Knock-ee-tox-ays?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23am Mr. Pumpy:

mariano...cool. email that shite!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23am coelacanth∅:

(much older than these though)

...i'd just say "notch-i-to-kes" (short o then long o)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24am coelacanth∅:

i wish i knew how to make pronunciation marks with a computer
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25am Mr. Pumpy:

coel...awesome! I would say you'd be better off reviving them and using them traditionally. So much wattage goes through an instrument amplifier. I say that even if you don't want to have it too loud, but monitors and cabs are built for speed because the high power can color the tone so well. BUT...you never know!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26am mariano:

Kind of close on the first syllable Mr. P. Sorry coela, no cigar, womp wommmp! It's "NACK-uh-dish" or sometimes "NACK-uh-tish". Makes no sense in terms of its spelling, but whaddya gonna do?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29am coelacanth∅:

hmm yeah i have thought about that. i don't need another pair of large, heavy hi-fi speakers; but i sure's hell don't want to ruin these, the speakers i learned about music on.
  1:31am JakeGould:

@Sinner: My hand coffee grinder literally died tonight stop. I only have enough grind beans for me for now stop. Hoping my order for a proper electric grinder gets processed quickly stop.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32am coelacanth∅:

haha! well i assumed i wasn't close by the way you asked the question!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32am Mr. Pumpy:

mariano...I was way off!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33am Mr. Pumpy:

coel, where are you located> Forgive me, I think I know...but I forgot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34am Mr. Pumpy:

Jake, it's not a telegraph don't stop.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35am coelacanth∅:

in the new paltz area i reside; but i work often in north stamford,ct.
... i have family in union county.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36am coelacanth∅:

er, "where i am now" was supposed to be at the end of "stamford,ct".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40am Mr. Pumpy:

Ahhh...I am up and down 87 all the time. I like New Paltz, my aunt used to live there. Anyhow, if they are functional, not rotted at all, I may be able to give them a proper home. Obviously I wouldn't want to do it unless they can still take some abuse, and of course if you wanted to make a deal. At that age...there may be some dry rot on the cones, or no?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40am Mr. Pumpy:

Yo, things are rubbery and funky up in this piece!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45am coelacanth∅:

Pumpy the foam is shot, but that's an easy fix. the speakers are good.
i might use them and unload my genesis.
...i'll have to think about it. i do remember how good these sounded.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46am Mr. Pumpy:

coel, now that I think more about it, you could get them going for some real clean, mellow guitar stuff without worrying too much. Probably not much beyond that...but who knows?! Anyhow. I trashed a classic set of Fischer Studio Standard speaker cabs with 15" woofers when I moved two years ago. I watched the garbage truck chew them up, and I regret it...but I had to downsize. So...I am in the market for some vintage cones once again, hence my idea, if you decide to get rid of them, give me a holler.
  1:49am Spacebird718:

Fire tonight. Love this song man. Thanks for the tunes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49am mariano:

New Paltz is cool. I had friends there and in the area, always enjoyed going up there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52am coelacanth∅:

funny thing is, my father bought these new, late in the 50s. - held up, held up... then one day around 1999 he gets a letter from jbl saying the foam has been determined to be defective and they'll replace it for free!
dad's like sure! like a refurbish...even though there was nothing wrong with the old foam.
. . . i don't know how long the new foam lasted but when he signed off, dec.2018 i took the front off the cabinets and the foam just poured out.
i wonder how the original foam would've been.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52am Mr. Pumpy:

Okay folks. I'm going to push off and move into the next phase of my evening while pops slumbers. That phase is making a couple of soft tacos the size of my head and watching TV. Sad, true, and lovely...lest it kill me before I stop this madness!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53am coelacanth∅:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54am Mr. Pumpy:

Avatar 2:11am northguineahills:

needed some post-dub bass....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11am mariano:

Hey there Hubig! Yep, that's our state shibboleth. Good way to suss out clandestine Texans and undercover Mississippians.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14am mariano:

Of course in north Looziana they put a few extra syllables in the vowels.
Avatar 2:15am Hubig Pie:

And don't get me started on Chartres St
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15am Mr. Pumpy:

I am still around, I'm back! I got my 22nd wind.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19am mariano:

Heh! Chawduz, like my great-uncle Ant'ny said it. Welcome back Mr P!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26am Mr. Pumpy:

Chawduz...nice. I see the reference., but it sounds like some folks from Queens & Brooklyn (my motherlands) would have said 'chowders' back in the day. No...wait, it would have been more like ChOWduz. I see the 'chaw' distinction. I hear an amalgamation like this, "Ow many dypes uh chowduz did day ahv ovah awn chawduz?
Avatar 2:27am Hubig Pie:

Drive up Mep-o-mean to Dr. Yades, is where my mom an em used to live

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43am Mr. Pumpy:

$mall ¢hange, that Unemployed single is going for mad duckets! Did we hear that on vinyl?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44am Mr. Pumpy:

You don't have to answer, lest someone come and invade your compound
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45am mariano:

Sorry, was away for a bit - Mr. Pumpy, Hubig is referring to Melpomene and Dryades Streets, two of many that have curious pronunciations. And yeah, you're right about the NYC connection. Some New Orleanians sound like they're from the East Coast, especially people here of Italian descent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48am mariano:

Here, check this clip out, one of my favorites. Six-min local TV clip about NOLA accents. Tell me if that first girl doesn't sound like she's from the NY area! www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54am Mr. Pumpy:

Yeah man! Very much so...or, TOTALLY
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55am Mr. Pumpy:

I feel this type of accent travels among females much more. I could be wrong. Seems that way though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56am Mr. Pumpy:

"You don't have to be Henry Iggins or Higgins..." HA! Awesome.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58am mariano:

Haha, yeah Mr. Pumpy. A reference to a musical, who'da thunk? ;)

Thanks so much $mall ¢hange, Scott - y'all have a good night!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00am Ken From Hyde Park:

Thanks, $mall ¢hange and skeletoners. Take care, everybody!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02am Mr. Pumpy:
