Mr. Pumpy:

Keilidh (and anyone else), potential studying tools:

BlackLab – Abyss. Amazing Doom duo from Japan that stay trve yet seriously stretch their wings. I was digging their debut a couple years back and upon discovering this follow-up I learned they took their name from combining Black Sabbath and Stereolab. So, yeah… blacklabmoon.bandcamp.com...

Winterfylleth – The Reckoning Dawn. Good and solid blackened death that stays interesting. winterfylleth.bandcamp.com...

Vektor – Black Future. This is a throwback to slightly greater days from this New Mexico cum Philly thrashing group of Voivod worshipers. Not to say the two follow-up records weren’t amazing, but this shit just nails it. vektor.bandcamp.com...

I usually like the power of threes to do my bidding, but I have to say that the new Lör EP, Edge of Eternity, went from being a guilty pleasure, to me realizing I don’t really do those, to me listening to it myriad times. Give it a hear and you decide! halloflor.bandcamp.com

Mr. Pumpy:

mariano, yes, Saturday night. That show was fucking nuts at times. Or was it? Yes, it was! That's where I first saw Dynaman, which was the early Power Rangers, but some folks bought the rights and dubbed funny English language shit over it. I loved it. Years later, when working in as a sound editor for film, I met the two guys that did all of the sound effects for the Dynaman stuff on Night Flight. they did it in real time in one pass! Ahh...I guess I have lived!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43am
Mr. Pumpy:

Keilidh, I'm loving this set. Good show, mate! Not that you need me to tell you. I'm tuckered out and have to get some sleep...yet it is hard to change the dial to sleep! Perhaps some Rumple Minze will help. Wait, what? Tortured sax?! Damn...
  12:44am

@ Mr. Pumpy
I do not remember "Night Flight". I justed looked it up; it seems to be a cool program. I used to watch "Up All Night" and "Duckman" as a teenager.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55am
Mr. Pumpy:

mariano, yes! I too discovered a lot of shit on Night Flight. Also, I bugged the fuck out in an altered state of mind quite often. I remember an episode wherein they showed a hot dog in a microwave for 20-30 minutes. It was some of the best television I've ever seen.

There comes a point in an individual's life where they should free themselves of judgment and inhibition; where they can feel free to express themselves with no fear of rebuttal; when the sound they make can truly be heard as pure joy; this may perhaps be the only way they can both appreciate, and excel at, sax.

damn! what a cool show -- going to have to catch what i missed on the archives!
and hell yeah! the 80s were all over-dyed denim, acid wash, pastels, day-glo . . . i think i had so many black clothes by then because i had been attempting to dress all in black by the time i was 12 (vampires? Bela Lugosi?) plus, i did not grow much over the years, and i had a buncha stuff (really cool black dresses, gloves, etc.) that belonged to my Mom, Grandma, other relatives, and found lotsa black stuff at thrift shops because no-one wanted it, hah!
(so yeah, was totally going for that Lydia Lunch, Nick Cave "look" -- goth before it was actually called goth???)
