The best Jean-Pierre Melville film I know is  Les Enfants Terribles (1950) based on the  Jean Cocteau novel. I think you can find it on Youtube. I bet there's an impulse to see anything that can be aestheticized can be controlled, @Woods. Takes it from the realm of the overwhelming real to something you can pick up and put down. Plus, frisson of death-drive.

* I tried stuffing them once, and decided it was just a very labor-intensive way to make a greasy, inedible artichoke.
* I did dice & sautee a couple to make Lidia's artichoke carbonara - that worked well, but I threw out like 75% by weight
* So for now I'm back to just boiling them - easy, you get to eat most of it.

My experience is that the music I like immediately quickly wares off and becomes boring. Conversely,  the music I don't like at first often goes on to become my favorite in the long run.
