On Bill's Saturday night broadcast, he made reference to having 'beat' the coronavirus, so that sounds like good news.

my roommate says, "merci pour les selections en francais"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm Sid:

Glad to be able to relay good news. SB, are you playing these off of vinyl when LP or 45 is indicated, or is that the original source of a file or rip?
Avatar 3:18pm Otis Fodder:

Clothilde!
Avatar 3:19pm spacebrother:

Some are vinyl. Some are MP3 ripped from my vinyl, some just mp3 from other sources.
Avatar 3:19pm zivilars:

Fantastic French set, spacebrother!!

Hey Mr. Fab!
Avatar 3:26pm zivilars:

man, this show already is SO great – surely different to Bill's sets, but not one bit less fantastic ... Thanks so much!
Avatar 3:27pm zivilars:

Definitely have to tune in to your "normal" show more often!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I have risen from a nap, Ruth. That's twice in one day! I hope you have enough skeleton food in the booth this afternoon, and chocolate.
Avatar 3:29pm Ruth Booth:

I need chocolate!
  3:30pm Elle Tor's Husband:

Soooo glad to hear Bill K is a-okay. Maybe not all the way a-okay but getting there!
  3:31pm JakeGould:

The “Crazy Rich Asians” soundtrack is really pretty solid.
  3:34pm Fredwebs:

Is Bill fighting the virus? Enjoying the show.
  3:34pm JakeGould:

And this reminds me of that orange that sang Carmen from “Sesame Street.” Scared the crap out of me as a kid.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm radioronan:

Good news about Bill. Thanks for being here Spacebrother & Ruth!
  3:37pm TuiSnider:

Hey, Spacebro! I'm enjoying your show down here in Texas. Loved the message from Dolly.
Avatar 3:37pm spacebrother:

Hey Tui!!
  3:38pm BH:

this seems like the most uptempo nuclear apocalypse song (at least among sincere songs)
Avatar 3:38pm Mr Fab:

@Fredwebs: Bill is fighting and winning (for now)
Avatar 3:41pm zivilars:

I missed what Greg said about Bill on air ... I thought Bill was just skipping his shows as precaution – if he got the virus: GET WELL SOON, BILL!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm Kat in Chicago:

Haven't seen Jesus but the delivery guy just showed up with Nashville hot chicken and that was close enough. (I did not welcome him with open arms, obviously.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm sinner:

He has risen!
Avatar 3:42pm Mr Fab:

I wouldn't worry about what I'd say to Jesus, HE'S the one who's got some explainin to do!
  3:43pm ?:

This sucks
Avatar 3:44pm franny:

Woo doggie. Another ones on the way.
Avatar 3:45pm spacebrother:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm Tommy in Neversink:

Lovin this
Avatar 3:45pm franny:

This was a Shel Silverstein and Loretta collab!
Avatar 3:46pm zivilars:

can't do anything wrong with Loretta
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm listener 126464:

Topeka!
Avatar 3:46pm Mr Fab:

dang, the singer for the Mysterians doesn't like country!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm Tommy in Neversink:

OH , I did not know that , I assumed she wrote it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm Hughie Considine:

I'm swooning through this delirious dark set -- thanks you, genius DJ!
Avatar 3:47pm spacebrother:

@ Franny - I think I heard that somewhere. Amazing!
Avatar 3:47pm franny:

Yeah, my mom's a big Loretta girl. I know everything from her.
  3:47pm Elle Tor's Husband:

Thanks Loretta for kicking off the Culture War. You and Richard Nixon made a great team!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm Kat in Chicago:

That kid OMG
Avatar 3:48pm franny:

Uh oh.
Avatar 3:48pm spacebrother:

It's Dottie's son. He sounds like a monster.
  3:49pm Fredwebs:

Suffer Time album, from 1966, the year everything was good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm Gaylord Fields:

After hearing that kid sing, I'm on Team Deadbeat Dad.
Avatar 3:49pm Mr Fab:

I think we know why daddy left
Avatar 3:49pm Sketch:

Just had a very awkward family zoom meeting and that tune really made me feel better
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm Kat in Chicago:

Gaylord!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm Gaylord Fields:

Kat! Fancy meeting you here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm sinner:

That even gave me the creeps...and I'm used to a lot of southern weirdness.
Avatar 3:50pm franny:

There was a lot fake phone calls in country. What was up with that?
  3:51pm Jett:

Loving this hillbilly set!
Avatar 3:52pm Mr Fab:

I love that album title: "Suffer Time." Hey kids, what time is it!?!
  3:52pm BH:

i'm not sure about the exact musical technology from 1966, but how many takes do you think it took to record the vocals for the kid in that Dottie song?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Kat in Chicago:

Well, if that was the best take they got..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm Mr. Pumpy:

Hello all. Petitikini!
Avatar 3:55pm Mr Fab:

Greg's doing his show on loan from the Sheena's Jungle Room stream. Where Screamin Jay is one of the patron saints.
  3:55pm Fredwebs:

I think they had 4 track recorders in 1966, and lots of splicing tape.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm Hughie Considine:

This is good, but better in the original German.
Avatar 3:56pm Mr Fab:

Mrs Fab just burst into laughter at this French "Bikini" cover.
  3:58pm Elle Tor's Husband:

Are the polka dots in Europe metric? Just wondering...
  3:58pm ?:

haha. i remeber my mom being really into this version. very popular in austria too.
Avatar 3:59pm Mr Fab:

Hi Gaylord! You and your fellow Gaylords sound great here.
Avatar 3:59pm zivilars:

Would be a great themed show to play only Itsy Bitsy Teenie versions in all languages
Avatar 3:59pm zivilars:

would be an interesting experiment what this does to your brain after three hours Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm Gaylord Fields:

@Mr Fab: Glad we Gaylords are taking over Sunday. People are constantly giving me Gaylords 45s and LPs, and the "Sings American Hits in Italian" album is the only one that is any good — and it's surprisingly great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm Gaylord Fields:

And it's the only Gaylords record I bought for myself.
  4:04pm ?:

This is the greatest song in the universe.
  4:05pm ChrisB.:

This a tremendously entertaining fill-in! Thank you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm Kat in Chicago:

These are now known as dad jokes

Avatar 4:09pm spacebrother:

This track and the next one are courtesy of Mr. Fab's fabulous blog Music For Maniacs!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm steveo:

Avatar 4:11pm franny:

By 'did to hotel rooms' you mean coded in minecraft.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm Mr. Pumpy:

I heard the totally digitized the Chelsea!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm Kat in Chicago:

This just crossed over into magnificence
Avatar 4:18pm Phillippe Bastille:

Does Julie know about this album?
  4:19pm BH:

you can feel the musicians getting drunker and drunker as the song goes on
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm Mr. Pumpy:

Newkid...I ain't arguing.
Avatar 4:19pm Mr Fab:

Actually, the Queen medley is from "COVER THE EARTH: Bizarro Versions of Your Favorite Oldies From Across the World Wide Weird" not "No Humans Allowed."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm Mr. Pumpy:

Mr. Fab...thanks! Link? I need to send this to my friend Maiko. Although the novelty may be lost on her...but it's amazing in its own right!
Avatar 4:22pm spacebrother:

@ Fab. Thanks. Will fix.
  4:22pm New kid:

just looked up King Uszniewica and found this gem Dubbed by one critic as "the worst oldies band I ever heard in my life," they played with a bludgeoning energy, oblivious to the fact that they were woefully shy in the talent department."
Avatar 4:23pm spacebrother:

@ NK - Yes. In other words, genius.
Avatar 4:23pm Mr Fab:

Sorry, Mr. Pumpy, the link is dead. One reason I stopped updating Music For Maniacs. And most of my files are on moldering old hard drives somewhere.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm Mr. Pumpy:

King Uszniewicz sounded like the infamous Thomas of 'Thomas Sings' who Irwin has been playing lately. Either right before he went solo, or when he finally got a band together for a week or two. Brilliant!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm Mr. Pumpy:

Ahhh...thanks Mr. Fab. I'll direct her towards the archives eventually. Good looking out!
  4:26pm Elle Tor's Husband:

@Franny @Mr. Pumpy the place was in BITS. Worse then after Johnny Thundersbolt

No problem, Mr. Fab. Already sent to my friend, with love. She's in NYC, so I hope it finds her well.
Avatar 4:41pm Mr Fab:

If you're diggin' the sounds Spacebrother's layin down, his show "Stop Hitting Yourself" can be heard every Monday (that's tomorrow!) over on the Sheena's Jungle Room stream: www.wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm Kat in Chicago:

I usually think everything sounds better in French but...
Avatar 4:42pm Mr Fab:

Kat, the French can do many things, but rock n roll was one thing that generally eluded their grasp
  4:42pm Elle Tor's Husband:

Man! This is GREAT SET!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:43pm Mr. Pumpy:

Apparently the lead singer of KWEEN, Freddy Etow, ended that band and formed another now known as Queeness. queeness.amebaownd.com

Avatar 4:47pm spacebrother:

@ Pumpy - Haven't heard that in years, but YES.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm Mr. Pumpy:

Sweet!
  4:48pm Elle Tor's Husband:

Work a show in 80 ? There abouts - and had to throw Wall Of Voodoo out of the club cause the band wanted gas money to get back to LA and the promotor wouldn't cover it. I hope that they got back OK
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm Mr. Pumpy:

spacebrother...they were way ahead of the curve there with seemingly disparate genre covers!
Avatar 4:49pm Mr Fab:

Elle Tor's Husband, that's so funny. Where was the club ? Was it a long drive back to LA?
  4:50pm JakeGould:

Ahhh… The glamour of show business.
  4:51pm steveL:

Of course, it’s The Damned! New to me!

@Mr Fab the "club" was actually a defunct synagogue know as The Temple or The Temple Beautiful in San Francisco. It was situated directly next to the Jim Jones People's Temple on Geary at Fillmore. When I told people I was the door man at The Temple they stepped back... Good times

If anyone cares to check it out later, this is my buddy Chris Maggio on drums along with a bunch of dudes from other bands (the fella with the guitar and crazy metal makeup is WFMU’s own Dave Hill). They recently recorded Reelin' in the Years remotely from and then it was edited and mixed in a minute. Listen through, it has melody and chops for days! Anyhow, proud of Chris as he has overcome personal demons and has kept it together for decades now. Love, hate, overrate…do as you will. youtu.be...
  4:55pm steveL:
