@Scott Williams much love to you as always. Sometimes when I struggle to play a guitar riff outside of my wheelhouse, I think, "how would Scott play this with Hoof n Mouth?" He'd just play it, says my voice.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30am Mr. Pumpy:

Scott...killer recovery. I'm picturing you looking at Ken's WFMU preparedness plan about pluggin in direct and you anguishing, "We were expendable!"

Avatar 12:39am spodiodi:

donutsusan*(?) knows. somebody knows
Avatar 12:39am spodiodi:

i get nostalgic for mono when i'm walking and listening to WFMU on my phone, through it's pathetic speakers, and i'm feeling data-thrifty

shouts 2 Colemine rekkids. yeah just discovered that listening today. dope track
  12:45am mr_donutsu:

The thing I’ve found about mono in this newfangled age, is that you don’t want to force it to do what it was never meant to do. Out of one single speaker, a great mono mix is sublime. The same out of a stereo pair is still good. But damn, through earbuds, blech!

  12:54am JakeGould:

@Scott: Only lowlifes was their hands after midnight.
  12:56am JakeGould:

FWIW, I have a funny feeling more people are listen to streaming music via mono than otherwise. The vast majority of Bluetooth speakers are mono.
  12:58am choggie:

I got a T-Amp set up with a couple bitchin' 70's Realistic metal cabs with some screaming 4 " drivers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58am Mr. Pumpy:

I'm living in stereo over here, via bluetooth.

Speakers...garage sale, twinny dolla- $45 a pair in 70s
  1:01am JakeGould:

Mono is fine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01am mariano:

M-Audio recording monitors (the cheapest ones) hooked up to my other laptop.
  1:02am choggie:

it's only about 30 bucks for one of those mini damp cheap amplifiers puts out like 40 Watts her Channel screaming little lamps for the price can't connect that to some decent speakers and you got yourself a mini sound system
  1:03am choggie:

chip amp rather
  1:03am choggie:

for a little bit more you can get one of those little amps with a couple of tubes in the circuit for That Sweet tone
  1:05am JakeGould:

@choggie: Cost and portability are two different things. I’ve avoided stand-alone Bluetooth speakers for a while, but I scored this small/portable JBL Bluetooth speaker that sounds really nice and I can toss it in my backpack too. At home I have it echoing in a vintage wood storage box and it’s genuinely amazing. Nice sound. Just mono.
Avatar 1:07am spodiodi:

mono makes me lose my balance
  1:08am JakeGould:

Elvis liked mono.
  1:08am choggie:

for the money Jake, you're better off buying a good pair of Standalone speakers and one of those custom little chip setup amps... replace the speakers in the right place and it beats the hell out of any Bluetooth speaker on the market for way less money
Avatar 1:08am spodiodi:

never meant **** to me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08am mariano:

This era of hip hop, wow.
Avatar 1:09am The Count of Al Dente:

I'm enjoying the show but I gotta say, the added sound effects are a drag.

  1:12am $mall ¢hange:

  1:12am JakeGould:

@choggie: I’ve had a many different stereo systems large and small — recently and in the past — and honestly I don’t care. I honestly hate the home audiophile world and happy to be out of dealing with that stuff.

I’m happy listening to things this way now. For $20 on deep clearance discount, this portable JBL speaker is more than enough for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13am Mr. Pumpy:

Th sound effects are making my night!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13am mariano:

Yeah, the DJs on Jamaican radio stations add sound effects.

  1:15am choggie:

I'm the same way, I grab gear that's good and stick with mix and match...anytime it's on the cheap and sounds good. I was listening to old cassettes the other night on my little Sony boombox from forever back...CD player broke, use it for cassettes
Avatar 1:16am spodiodi:

da beetus no joke
Avatar 1:16am The Count of Al Dente:

This is all reminding me of the early days of Hip Hop, the car audio shops on Canal St. selling the huge speakers, woofers, etc., and the Boyz parked out front in their Jeeps, everyone walking around with their boomboxes up on their shoulders.
  1:17am JakeGould:

@choggie: Well, my point being… I believe regardless of anyone’s audiophile proclivities, I think more people are listening to WFMU on supposedly “sub-par” equipment than otherwise.

We all appreciate the sounds regardless of playback device or storage format.
Avatar 1:17am spodiodi:

  1:18am JakeGould:

@TheCountofAlDente: Church Street and Canal! And across the street when there was a parking lot (next to where Uncle Steve’s used to be) that is where you could get some “hot out of the car” car stereos.
Avatar 1:18am The Count of Al Dente:

Jake, agreed. I've got one of my old laptops connected to my stereo, which makes a good interface.
Avatar 1:19am mb:

  1:32am JakeGould:

The best Jungian remix would be to take the Police’s “Synchronicity” and just remove all vocals. In fact, do that for all of the Police’s output and honestly, I think the instrumentation can hold their own.
