Does anyone know how to download archived programs without using the app? I found an old iPod mini when going through a box of my late father-in-law's stuff (1GB -- wow!!). I'd like to take FMU music with me when I'm doing something where I want to keep the phone safely sealed in a baggie (like the beach). Not really interested in any of the podcast.

The ‘organism’ of the Drummer Stream, decentralized, internationally sourced radio from home ‘stations’ is exactly what this insane moment in time needs. All hail the SS Schulkind and all who sail with her (him).

Blessed brother david w!

Was it really eight years ago that the Stream then in its infancy kept the station on the air.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35am Phillippe Bastille:

This sounds nice
Avatar 10:36am fred:

That's what makes Ken a textbook definition of a great leader: he has a vision, he empowers others to do new things, he does not feel threatened by change, and he care less about credit than the end goal (which, luckily for us, is to keep the station alive)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36am Doug Schulkind:

@Martinibomb
Email me. Ken needs a list of things to buy for a bare-bones set up so he can guide FMU DJs. You have a good handle on some aspects I am not familiar with. I wanna talk to you!
Avatar 10:36am Brian in UK:

Doug, I thought that you were taller.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37am Webhamster Henry:

When Hova and Belinda moved to Portland, they did Greasy Kid Stuff remotely for a few years. That was before WFMU's official streams I think. Now Tony Coulter does his show from Portland.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37am Doug Schulkind:

Right said, fred.

Seven shows back then! How the stream has grown!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38am Phillippe Bastille:

@Doug I agree about Ken. I was mentioning on another board this week that his hard work and decision-making has brought more joy to me than anyone else except for my family. His life's work is soooo appreciated, more than he knows.
Avatar 10:39am david w:

Fun fact with Doug resonance: First commercial radio station was KDKA in Pittsburgh, which went on the air in the evening of Nov. 2, 1920, with a broadcast of the returns of the Harding-Cox presidential election.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40am Webhamster Henry:

Ken jumped on the internet enthusiastically when it became possible. People had already been using the Bell Labs dial-in party line that Brian Redman had set up sometime in the 80s/90s to hear a WFMU stream!
  10:41am Listener Gregory:

@david w, that was a historic event, though it was marred by their leading story, "Cox Wins!"
Avatar 10:41am Brian in UK:

Gamliel is such an odd name.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41am Webhamster Henry:

@Birian in the UK, it means "Camel of God"!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41am Doug Schulkind:

KDKA still exists in Pittsburgh. The only K-call letter station east of the Mississippi. It's an all news/talk station of highly questionable value. All night long it runs this hideous syndicated right-wing vomitage.
Avatar 10:42am Brian in UK:

Thanks Henry. May your camel never rest.
Avatar 10:43am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Seconded that Doug's drive to get this stream going was tremendous for us all.

Crazy coincidence! It is MY wedding anniversary today as well! We're at 29 years. I was at Giant Eagle yesterday in Braddock Hills. No toilet paper, but I did score some paper towels. We're down to about 6 rolls of TP, hopefully we can find some soon.

Avatar 10:52am bobdc:

A. Happy Anniversary! That's a big round number.
B. That Jack Costanzo "Latin Fever" kills me every time. Some brief research on the bass player, Tony Reyes, did not turn up much.

Tony Reyes indeed. I used to ID him when I just played that track straight up. I should do so when using it as a music bed.
  10:58am John from Florham park:

@Doug sorry for the misspelling
@Granny how are you doing with the state wide lockdown
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58am ParUbi:

You should get down there soon, Bob, as everyone checking out of the store had a package. I think they limit purchases to 1 per customer, but still.

Morning, bigplanetnoise! Fancy meeting you here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01am Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Avatar 11:01am PsychopathJimFields:

Hey Doug!
It was good to see you while we were still allowed in the building.
Stay safe!
Avatar 11:02am bobdc:

A web search got my hopes up about Reyes by mentioning him with some YouTube videos, but the visual part of the videos are just pictures of covers of albums he's on, not video of the guy. The album covers are usually wild, but of course it's tough to beat the cover of Costanzo's Latin Fever...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02am Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Listener Gregory: and it's about time. The traffic reminds me of the good old 80's these days! (I can see it from the top of my hill)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02am Doug Schulkind:

Zounds! Did I miss bigplanetnoise? Musta slipped in the back door. Howdy, bigplanetnoise! Howdy, PsychopathJimFields! Great to see you, too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03am ParUbi:

Hi there, @John from FP
  11:03am John from Florham park:

@Listener Gregory got all kinds of news alerts about it last night
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04am Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

This set is soothing the spirits, Doug. So grateful for all of the devoted folx keeping WFMU going.
  11:05am John from Florham park:

@Granny if it was not for this station and the accu I would be watching the news and losing my mind

Avatar 11:08am Brian in UK:

Three chairs for Kenzo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am Listener Bob in PGH:

@ParUbi The irony is that I don't live near that location but was driving by it everyday picking my wife up from work. Both of us are now working from home and I fear by the time either of us got down there the supply would be gone. I have some backup plans for TP alternatives!
  11:08am John from Florham park:

@Granny send me one too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09am Doug Schulkind:

Just got a text from Jessie. No more toilet paper. Some anniversary this is turning out to be.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09am ParUbi:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11am Doug Schulkind:

Avatar 11:11am Brian in UK:

@ParUbi, I go around 7:30 every day. Trouble is I do not get up until 08:00.
I know it is an old one.
  11:11am Listener Gregory:

I know it's not as important as toilet paper, but I'm really enjoying this set.
Avatar 11:12am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

My shoulders are indeed broader from all the hunched typing all day.
@John Not going anywhere
  11:12am John from Florham park:

  11:15am John from Florham park:

@Granny good for you
  11:16am Listener Gregory:

Doug, who knew that human civilization was as thin a veneer as a sheet of recycled paper? OK, I think we all probably did.
  11:17am Listener Gregory:

@Jeff, you might be right, but a few days without TP might change our minds.

Avatar 11:26am Brian in UK:

Doug, have you ever tried peeling your ears. Much as I love this show, there is a limit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28am melinda:

@Brian in UK I've been following the numbers in my state and there are 52 positives to about 2000 negatives (as of yesterday..trying not to compulsively check). I'm assuming that everyone had good reason to test though, since test kits are so limited. I have a friend in Chicago with corona symptoms and she was told just to stay home, no test.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29am Doug Schulkind:

I find that comment appealing, Brian in UK.
