Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:03pm melinda:

Bollywood is nice in the meantime
  7:04pm ParUbi’s phone □ □ □ □:

Reboot sounds like a universally good idea
Avatar 7:04pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Oooops and we're on the old version of the playlist design. I could fix that but everyone would have to hit reload. Will do that with Gary's OK...?
Avatar 7:04pm LambdaCalculus:

THE SYSTEM IS DOWN :P
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04pm chresti:

Is this from next week?
Avatar 7:07pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Yup, everyone, join in the reboot party and RELOAD THIS PLAYLIST PAGE NOW!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08pm Rich in Washington:

WOW! That was dramatic! I hope we didn't knock Gary asunder by reloading at the tame time.
Avatar 7:08pm LambdaCalculus:

Dear Gary's computer: start behaving or I'm gonna go over there!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09pm Gary:

Hey sorry everyone, I've got multiple issues her, beginning with a blown out mixer

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10pm chresti:

I love the Mills Bros
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10pm Gary:

Okay, sorry everyone; it looks like I need a new mixer. No show tonight ... :(

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:17pm Gary:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18pm melinda:

That is a great album cover.
Avatar 7:18pm WR:

Onward!
Avatar 7:18pm hyde:

haha, i cant stay long myself tonight, sorry. but this sounds great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18pm Rich in Washington:

@Gary: THAT'S the SPIRIT!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23pm Rich in Washington:

I had to reboot once when listeners made me aware that some sudden glitch in my external soundcard and/or buffering made my voice and music sped up like The Chipmunks. It was extremely stressful for me at the time but I'm glad listeners seemed amused by it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:24pm Gary:

I have no idea what happened but it affected both my mixer and my out-streaming computer -- I was sure I was doomed, haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27pm chresti:

When was that Rich?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm Rich in Washington:

I think shortly after we all went live on the Sheena stream. My cheapo external soundcard had other plans.
Avatar 7:29pm LambdaCalculus:

Hopefully it's not the mixer itself giving out!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm Gary:

Oh, man -- I can't imagine how a soundcard could speed your voice up like that
Avatar 7:30pm LambdaCalculus:

Rich, I have a Sound Blaster Play! 3 external sound device, and it's one of the best ones I've ever used. Works with everything!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:30pm chresti:

Just know that whatever happens your shows are always great, Gary
  7:31pm JakeGould:

Audio caching can “speed thihngs up” in very bad ways…
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31pm Gary:

I am not sure if the mixer is giving out or not, but its a pretty cheap one, easily replaceable if so
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32pm Rich in Washington:

I finally bought a bunch of fancy-ass external gear for everything. Now if I can just keep cats off my turntables when I'm on.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32pm Gary:

Another big fear -- which hasn't yet happened -- is that the cat is going to come in and just SWAT some critical cord loose
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33pm Rich in Washington:

I also have a cheapo, but very handy mixer. I often have to BLAST everything a few times before my show starts and sometimes during my show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm Gary:

anyway ... THANK YOU ALL FOR STICKING IT OUT (as it were)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm chresti:

AhhHa! Cats!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35pm Rich in Washington:

i kid about the cats, but once when I was doing radio on Radio23, our young tom came in, just as I was standing at my turntables and backannouncing, suddenly decided to shoot straight up my legs and back to perch on my shoulder. I think I audibly gasped on the air. It really hurt.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35pm Rich in Washington:

Sounds great, Gary!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm Gary:

My cat has torn into my flesh while I was back announcing and I am pretty sure I cried
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm Rich in Washington:

Oh man! I have to keep cats out now because they're so damn unpredictable.
Avatar 7:38pm northguineahills:

At free103point.org, someone bumped the turntables' table and knocked a candle and beer on the record playing. I just acted it was part of my turntablizing….
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39pm Rich in Washington:

Although, I really would like to try to do radio with our older female tuxedo cat in the room. She just talks to us constantly. You say anything to her and she chirps something back. She could be like my co-host.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm Doug Schulkind:

"My cat has torn my flesh while I was back announcing." THIS IS REAL-LIFE RADIO FOLKS!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm Gary:

It's a dangerous job but someone has to empty their litter boxes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Don't let a cat put his beer anywhere near yer turntabelisms.
...Perhaps backaznounce in a cuteyvoice like you are talking to the cat & there will be no jealousy or feral bloodletting...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm chresti:

..and have a moat filled with cat treats
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm Rich in Washington:

REAL-LIFE radio in a real home! It's so weird. It's certainly kicked my 'I suddenly discover I have to go on the air' dreams into high gear.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm melinda:

Cats are wonderful but they can cause so much pain and destruction.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm Doug Schulkind:

DJs on the main WFMU channel have nightmares about finding themselves on the air buck naked. On the Drummer Stream, we call that, oh, Wednesday evening.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm Rich in Washington:

HA!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm Rich in Washington:

I have to share that with the Sheena tribe. So true!
Avatar 7:46pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@ngh free103point9, memories...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47pm chresti:

Well I know DJ ARB does her show in her pajamas
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47pm Gary:

You can't tell but I AM wearing PJs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47pm Gary:

Oh, hahah -- jinx!
Avatar 7:47pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@Gary C'mon, combine nightmares, and forget to wear pants
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48pm Rich in Washington:

Dream: your pants are on like a shirt and you have 4 seconds to go on the air and nothing cued up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48pm chresti:

And I'm wearing a leisure suit
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm Doug Schulkind:

Gary is wearing his P.R.O.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50pm Rich in Washington:

Lately I've been fixated on the fact that you can't find leisure suits in thrift stores anymore. Like at all. Did someone issue some kind of edict declaring that they all must be destroyed or something?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50pm melinda:

I think it's funny that the main channel have naked on-air nightmares, since only people in the studio could see them, but I guess that would be plenty awkward.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm melinda:

@Rich someone must be hoarding them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm Rich in Washington:

My station dreams involve running into the (KBOO) library and not being able to find anything to play, that or finding some LPs and CDs, only to discover that they've turned into cookbooks once I make it to the air-room.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

That's so great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm chresti:

Haha.."on today's show I'll be reading cookbooks like a chipmunk
  8:03pm Dean:

That is one of the best record covers of all time. I wonder if the band name inspired Trump's cryptic tweet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:04pm Doug Schulkind:

Later in the show, Gary is going to play Em Dash. If we're lucky, he'll pull out his rare copy of Ellipsis.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:05pm Gary:

There's a great book about Ellipsis by The Explanation Point
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:05pm chresti:

Haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:06pm Gary:

The great Washington, DC poet Tina Darragh has a whole book of nothing but reading (in public) nightmares
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:07pm Rich in Washington:

That would be great! I would love to see/hear that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:09pm Rich in Washington:

I love that Delia Derbyshire/Barry Bermange radio piece The Dreams.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:10pm Gary:

Here's something about Tina's book: planbchaps.blogspot.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:11pm chresti:

Oh my gosh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:12pm Rich in Washington:

There was also 87 Dreams of a Sociopath by Bryan Lewis Saunders, short recordings by him allegedly recorded by him immediately after waking up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:13pm Rich in Washington:

I'm only skeptical because of falling for Dion McGregor's act years ago.
  8:15pm Dean:

Pilgrim's Progress
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:17pm Rich in Washington:

Wow! This is incredible!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:18pm Rich in Washington:

Gee. I wonder what late 70s David Byrne was listening to.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19pm Gary:

Haha, I know, immediate thought as well
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:20pm Rich in Washington:

It's uncanny!
Avatar 8:23pm LambdaCalculus:

This is definitely something he had in his library!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25pm Gary:

Jeeeeesuuuuuus, every fucking track on Flashback and Flashback II is the greatest pop song of all time
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25pm Doug Schulkind:

At first I thought this was Apostrophes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:28pm Gary:

The best part of the Semi-Colon story is that Lasbrey Ojukwu renamed himself Lasbrey Colon
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:29pm Gary:

So it's kind of like the unspoken band name is actually Colon and the Semi-Colon
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:29pm chresti:

Haha
  8:41pm Marc Nasdor:

Hey Gary. Awesome!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:42pm Gary:

Marc! Long time no see, what have you been up to?
  8:43pm Marc Nasdor:

Livin' in Baltimore. Just got back from nearly a month in Mexico City.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44pm Gary:

Oh, nice -- I gotta get to Mexico soon. I just got back from DC last night -- was there for work
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44pm Rich in Washington:

This show is just fantastic, Gary!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:45pm Gary:

So glad you like it, Rich!
  8:46pm Marc Nasdor:

Cool. Come down to Baltimore sometime. The Creative Alliance has great global music performances. www.creativealliance.org

I have been a bit of a hermit for the past 2 years. Will cathc the show regularly now. I love this track!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:47pm Gary:

We still gotta do an all Baltimore show as well!
  8:48pm Marc Nasdor:

Yes!

Avatar 9:59pm Flash Strap:

wish i caught this one from the jump but it's been just killer Gary, many thanks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59pm Gary:

Thank you all so much, and good night!
Avatar 1:20pm WR:

To give proper credit, the vocal group doing Mama Don't Allow during Gary's reboot is the Oleanders. In my memory I realized it was not The Mills Bros., thinking it may have been The Golden Gate Quartet. Checking the stream playlist see the Oleanders listed and indeed a group by that name released that song in the 1930s. Just a FYI.
