@Gary: THAT'S the SPIRIT!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23pm
Rich in Washington:

I had to reboot once when listeners made me aware that some sudden glitch in my external soundcard and/or buffering made my voice and music sped up like The Chipmunks. It was extremely stressful for me at the time but I'm glad listeners seemed amused by it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:24pm
Gary:

I have no idea what happened but it affected both my mixer and my out-streaming computer -- I was sure I was doomed, haha
Avatar 🇰🇷 Swag For Life Member 7:27pm
chresti:

When was that Rich?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm
Rich in Washington:

I think shortly after we all went live on the Sheena stream. My cheapo external soundcard had other plans.
Avatar 7:29pm
LambdaCalculus:

Hopefully it's not the mixer itself giving out!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm
Gary:

Oh, man -- I can't imagine how a soundcard could speed your voice up like that
Avatar 7:30pm
LambdaCalculus:

Rich, I have a Sound Blaster Play! 3 external sound device, and it's one of the best ones I've ever used. Works with everything!
Avatar 🇰🇷 Swag For Life Member 7:30pm
chresti:

Just know that whatever happens your shows are always great, Gary
  7:31pm
JakeGould:

Audio caching can “speed thihngs up” in very bad ways…
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31pm
Gary:

I am not sure if the mixer is giving out or not, but its a pretty cheap one, easily replaceable if so
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32pm
Rich in Washington:

I finally bought a bunch of fancy-ass external gear for everything. Now if I can just keep cats off my turntables when I'm on.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32pm
Gary:

Another big fear -- which hasn't yet happened -- is that the cat is going to come in and just SWAT some critical cord loose
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33pm
Rich in Washington:

I also have a cheapo, but very handy mixer. I often have to BLAST everything a few times before my show starts and sometimes during my show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm
Gary:

anyway ... THANK YOU ALL FOR STICKING IT OUT (as it were)
Avatar 🇰🇷 Swag For Life Member 7:34pm
chresti:

AhhHa! Cats!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35pm
Rich in Washington:

i kid about the cats, but once when I was doing radio on Radio23, our young tom came in, just as I was standing at my turntables and backannouncing, suddenly decided to shoot straight up my legs and back to perch on my shoulder. I think I audibly gasped on the air. It really hurt.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35pm
Rich in Washington:

Sounds great, Gary!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm
Gary:

My cat has torn into my flesh while I was back announcing and I am pretty sure I cried
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh man! I have to keep cats out now because they're so damn unpredictable.
Avatar 7:38pm
northguineahills:

At free103point.org, someone bumped the turntables' table and knocked a candle and beer on the record playing. I just acted it was part of my turntablizing….
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39pm
Rich in Washington:

Although, I really would like to try to do radio with our older female tuxedo cat in the room. She just talks to us constantly. You say anything to her and she chirps something back. She could be like my co-host.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm

"My cat has torn my flesh while I was back announcing." THIS IS REAL-LIFE RADIO FOLKS!

Don't let a cat put his beer anywhere near yer turntabelisms.

..and have a moat filled with cat treats
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm

REAL-LIFE radio in a real home! It's so weird. It's certainly kicked my 'I suddenly discover I have to go on the air' dreams into high gear.

Cats are wonderful but they can cause so much pain and destruction.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm
Doug Schulkind:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50pm

Lately I've been fixated on the fact that you can't find leisure suits in thrift stores anymore. Like at all. Did someone issue some kind of edict declaring that they all must be destroyed or something?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50pm
melinda:

I think it's funny that the main channel have naked on-air nightmares, since only people in the studio could see them, but I guess that would be plenty awkward.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm
melinda:

@Rich someone must be hoarding them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm
Rich in Washington:

My station dreams involve running into the (KBOO) library and not being able to find anything to play, that or finding some LPs and CDs, only to discover that they've turned into cookbooks once I make it to the air-room.

To give proper credit, the vocal group doing Mama Don't Allow during Gary's reboot is the Oleanders. In my memory I realized it was not The Mills Bros., thinking it may have been The Golden Gate Quartet. Checking the stream playlist see the Oleanders listed and indeed a group by that name released that song in the 1930s. Just a FYI.
