That set made me glad all over!

Mr. Wind on "Bay State Rock," too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:06pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hello, Todd and o-phonic followers. I'm frankly surprised that Target hasn't commandeered Juniper's song and remade about toys toys toys toys toys.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm efd:

I'm sorry, but the Greater Boston pedant in me insists that I clarify that the Prudential Center is not the same as Boston Garden. The Prudential was the tallest building in Boston for many years, prior to the John Hancock building. Boston Garden was the sports/concert arena which I think is now known as TD Bank Garden :P
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm efd:

Really enjoying all this Bosstown talk for the second week in a row, though!!
  4:14pm Fredericks:

Hi, Jack and other Oh Phonikers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16pm Ken From Hyde Park:

One of our college friends was Mark Ramlo from Ohio. We immediately gave him the nickname Ramrod. He owned records from Missing Persons and other bands like them.
  4:32pm rich the greeb:

I love that these groovie tracks are coming from clearly played many times albums! As they should be, surface noise = love. RIP Roy
  4:34pm rich the greeb:

Also is it wrong to dig Missing Persons? Asking for a friend
  4:38pm Fredericks:

Clayton P. Pigeon would say sure.
  4:38pm Fredericks:

I mean no.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

What was the quote on this very Program? :
The Groovies are as if the Stones were based on Sun Records instead of Chess ??
Did I read that @ some point Keith Richards actually said the Groovies were better ???
I know I say :
The Flamin' Groovies fill a very important & particular space between original 1960s Garage & 1970s Punk
- & werpe / are one of Thee Definitive U.S. American Rawk (& Roll) Bands.
Avatar 4:45pm mariano:

@rich: I love Missing Persons! "Mental Hopscotch" is one of my favorite 80s songs. I had no idea till much later that they had that Zappa connection.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Not quite as much Mythology
...but you KNEW when you heard a Flamin' Groovies track
...essential....you just knew.
  4:46pm rich the greeb:

@mariano I had no idea there was a Zappa connection! Gonna do some research.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm common:

Avatar 4:48pm mariano:

@rich: Yep, Terry and Dale Bozzio.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar 4:53pm mariano:

Oh, looks like they're all Zappa alums, that I didn't know. Who'd have pegged Missing Persons as a Zappa spinoff? What a world.

Just learned about WFMU (I know, my bad....). But, can't get any audio using Chrome -- and I can't seem to find the cause. Any suggestions for what I might look for, reset, etc?
Avatar 4:56pm mariano:

Damn, RevRabbit, Michael Shelley is like the TMZ of FMU!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Saw Terry B with Jeff Beck ... & I were shouting for Terry !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Juniper makes great trax !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I mentioned Missing Persons because about all I knew of music was AM radio with bands like ZZ Top and Steve Miller Band, for example. So hearing Spring Session M was a fascinating experience.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm efd:

@martyh Can you describe what you're doing and what you see when you try to play audio in Chrome? Are you clicking on the Pop-Up player link, or one of the stream links? (128k AAC, 128k MP3, etc.)
Avatar 5:02pm mariano:

@martyh: Don't worry, you have 21 years (and counting) of archives to explore. I'm using Chrome too, and don't have any problems. I'm no IT guy, but it seems like it would be more of a problem with your computer's sound settings than with your browser. Does the sound work on other browsers? Finally, because this seems to solve so much in general, tried restarting?
  5:03pm martyh:

@mariano: Sound works on other sites using chrome; just having probs with this site.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04pm Handy Haversack:

I was watching a movie. Looks like it's been (another) good show.
  5:04pm martyh:

@mariano: I think it has something to do with the pop-up player, I just can't figure it out.
Avatar 5:04pm On the Yazoo:

Click Pop up..... A window will open.. Click play near the bottom of that window.. That's what I do.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04pm Handy Haversack:

Yeah -- the play button took me a bit of finding at first, @martyh
Avatar 5:04pm mariano:

@martyh: Ah, well, I'll leave it to the experts then, that's about the extent of my knowledge lol.
  5:05pm Sylvia's Mother:

Missing Persons should take a cue from their name!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

This Set.
Avatar 5:13pm Hoboken Jack:

Pick to click, baby! Or in Michael Shelley parlance, Pink Lite is a No. 1 hit!
  5:14pm Fredericks:

Rev, I think it was Mick not Keith that said that.
Avatar 5:16pm mariano:

Oh yeah, one of the best tracks from The Who Sell Out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Thx Fredericks.
Avatar 5:17pm Mailman Tom:

The Who Sell Out is the Who's best album, IMO.
Avatar 5:19pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

@Mailman Tom: The 2 cd "deluxe" set is really outta site!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Not on til CD extras...
Imho : Like Beatles - Who were dedicated to twin gods of Excellence - & Change. So - every album their Best ... @ *something*.
....When they were. That is.
Avatar 5:20pm Mailman Tom:

I have the deluxe set!
Avatar 5:23pm mariano:

@Mailman: Agree, I've always thought it was their best. Perfectly balanced between their early mod days and their later concept stuff. @Rev: that's right, I forget which ones are original or bonus.
  5:26pm Sean B.:

All Or Nothing....thanks Todd!. Love you man.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

1st Who ? Live @ Leeds? Sell Out works - that's for sure...
  5:29pm Fredericks:

Doug Yule vocals?
  5:29pm vertual:

What an amazing set. Hit after hit. No offense to m Shelley.
  5:32pm Motobro:

This Velvet Underground sounds similiar to Marshal Tucker's Can't You See... or maybe its the oth and r way around.
  5:32pm Fredericks:

If I have any criticism of this show, it would be not enough Small Faces.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm Handy Haversack:

So good.
  5:33pm Jeff formerly from Rahway:

One of the greatest songs EVAH
  5:33pm Fredericks:

I do not have any criticism of this show.

Avatar 5:36pm mariano:

Aww, no love for Face Dances? /s
  5:36pm Fredericks:

Not Billy Yule on drums?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Always interesting how Velvets an anomaly - & then of their time & milieu like anyone otoh.... can't ever quite nail the fascination of them...which is great.
  5:38pm Fredericks:

So, it is uncertain who is singing or drumming? And it is still perfect?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm Handy Haversack:

RR11/63: Did you read the article that got linked to a few weeks ago about the early VU show at a HS(?) in NJ? The description of the reaction of the crowd -- mostly withdrawing in horror while those who would be FMUers clustered round -- was pretty great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm Mister Dobalina:

I just got hung'd up on while tryin' to win free tickets.
