Avatar 3:07pm Listening Out There:

You're sure that box's contents aren't...inflatable?
  3:09pm yes:

Can someone please recommend me good jazz to catch in nyc this week?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm G:

@LOT: Inflatable Taylor Carcass?
Avatar 3:15pm Listening Out There:

@G: Yeah. Gee, that could be an FMU program, no?
Avatar 3:21pm Irwin:

yes: AllAboutJazz.com sends out a weekly mailing list of all jazz events in and around NYC.
Avatar 3:27pm Irwin:

Pedro did an excellent job, despite numerous bad-driver obstacles.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm Otis Fodder:

Just googled Temples and I ended up here! Where am I? What is this?!? I dunno, but I like it!
Avatar 3:30pm kuriousornj:

what's the music behind DJ?
  3:32pm Dave Miss:

Two Adverbs is a better name than Temples.
Avatar 3:32pm Irwin:

kurious: "Snake Eyes (Remix)" by Chip Wickham
Avatar 3:34pm kuriousornj:

thnx Irwin and hello from Kosovo!
  3:35pm yes:

Thanks Irwin
Avatar 3:35pm Hubig Pie:

Soprano saxophone is illegal
Avatar 3:37pm Irwin:

Exception made for Phillip Johnston.
Avatar 3:38pm Third World Man:

Irwin have you ever head of Drimala Records, an indie free jazz label?
Avatar 3:39pm Irwin:

TWM: Nope. The phrase "free jazz" is a bit of a red flag.
Avatar 3:40pm Irwin:

"Jazz should never be free. It should be kept under lock and key. It should never even be eligible for parole." – Mo
Avatar 3:41pm Third World Man:

IT's my term. Avant-garde
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm Phillippe Bastille:

"There's no such thing as free jazz" thinks every sax player at subway entrances.
Avatar 3:43pm Irwin:

Is it GOOD? I suspect that's why you're asking/recommending.
Avatar 3:44pm Third World Man:

There is an out of print recording I'd like to email you the FLACs of. Just interested if you'd like it.
Avatar 3:45pm βrian:

Jazz is held together by bungee cords.
Avatar 3:45pm digiclam:

Thanks For playing Daniel Johnston last week. 5 came on in a row. I thought damn, I know what that usually means.
Avatar 3:46pm Third World Man:

I like it a lot but what do I know?
Avatar 3:47pm Irwin:

"If it sounds good, it is good." - Ellington
  3:47pm Beetlemuse:

I JUST googled dan Johnston earlier today, pretty interesting music
Avatar 3:48pm Third World Man:

I'll take that as a not interested, keep your opinions to yourself. ;)
Avatar 3:49pm Irwin:

TWM: I'm curious. Mail me. Irwin@wfmu.org.
Avatar 3:49pm Irwin:

The DJ cannot always stay current replying to posts. Multi-tasking here.
Avatar 3:50pm Third World Man:

can you play flacs or do you need mp3s?
Avatar 3:53pm Third World Man:

ok sent
Avatar 3:53pm Irwin:

mp3s are fine. My ears don't hear the extreme frequencies. Send the entire album via WT.
Avatar 3:53pm Third World Man:

just did
Avatar 3:55pm Third World Man:

I really like track 2
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm G:

Whew! Glad we straightened that out!

Why you play Dry Cleaning but no Joy Cleaner
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm Phillippe Bastille:

Good? It's smokin'!
Avatar 4:04pm Irwin:

I've got some Dry Cleaners from Venus coming up, Jacko.
  4:05pm Listener Robert:

I had WMFU on here, and my housemate Bob, hearing it out of context, said, "Ashtar Command. I haven't heard of that in 20 years."
Avatar 4:05pm Irwin:

Got 'em, TWM. Thx. Will listen later.
  4:06pm Eager Allen:

Irwin, do you usually bring cds or lps or both?
Avatar 4:09pm Third World Man:

Give me your opinion. Hope you enjoy.
  4:09pm Beetlemuse:

Irwin, I'm still waiting on my BLT. It should be ready by now :(
Avatar 4:10pm Irwin:

EA: CDs, CDRs, sometimes LPs, 45s, YouTube streams. And my motormouth.
  4:10pm Listener Robert:

Ah, I see from Wikipedia's cross-references, it's the name of both a musical band and a band of an entirely different sort -- my friend Robert having known only of THAT one.
Avatar 4:12pm Irwin:

The Ashtar I played is from 2012.
Avatar 4:16pm Fredericks:

Right here, Hobo Jack. You are something else. I wasn't even signed in. That is some heavy ESP you got there, pal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16pm Phillippe Bastille:

Totally forgot about this band. Excellent choice, Mr. Chusid
  4:17pm Listener Robert:

The Ashtar you didn't play has nothing to do with music...unless it's the Music of Mind Control.
  4:32pm Manana:

So restrictive. How about bodily semi-fluids?
  4:33pm Dave Miss:

Ernest Bowie is a better name than temples
  4:33pm Beetlemuse:

yay! Magnetic Fields!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm Mister Dobalina:

Wait! Marcel Duchamp used his bodily fluid for the sake of art, why can't I?
  4:34pm Beetlemuse:

...or so I thaught
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm coelacanth∅:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm Phillippe Bastille:

Its quiet in here. Too quiet...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm coelacanth∅:

they must've seen me coming. they're all hiding.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm coelacanth∅:

Irwin is being very quiet too.
Irwin i know you're there!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm Phillippe Bastille:

Even the crickets are gone. do coelacanth eat crickets? Maybe that's what happened.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm coelacanth∅:

no but i bore the shit out of them.
...i've seen it happen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm Phillippe Bastille:

Funny, that happens to me as well...
  5:06pm Beetlemuse:

Everyone was telling Irwin to do stuff earlier, everyone is tired now
Avatar 5:07pm Fredericks:

Now Hobo disappeared?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm Phillippe Bastille:

ah. there was a gap where i wasn't paying attention.
Avatar 5:07pm Fredericks:

Is Irwin vacuuming now?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm Phillippe Bastille:

Have you ever wondered why alien abductions only take place at night? Maybe there's a new trend going
  5:08pm Beetlemuse:

yes he's cleaning up after the party :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm coelacanth∅:

did Irwin do everything he was told to?
  5:10pm Beetlemuse:

yes! and also why do ghosts always speak English!?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm Phillippe Bastille:

and this music definitely has that alien abduction vibe...
  5:10pm Fredericks:

Hey, that, is an interesting possibility, Beetkemuse.
  5:11pm Beetlemuse:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm blee:

@Phillippe Bastille: The aliens want to try and hide the strings on the spaceship, when they fly down to abduct.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm coelacanth∅:

it's the universal afterlife language.
  5:11pm Fredericks:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm Phillippe Bastille:

I still haven't figured out why Schultz and Klink spoke to each other in English
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12pm Phillippe Bastille:

@blee good point
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12pm coelacanth∅:

i thought i heard a ghost speaking japanese but it turned out to be a non-ghost.
that's all the proof i need.
  5:12pm Fredericks:

Irwin and Jack will give those aliens something to think about.
  5:13pm Beetlemuse:

lol @coel
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm coelacanth∅:

Fredericks you mean when they find out by examination that they're not the first aliens to get here?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm Phillippe Bastille:

Interstellar proctology exams are the best proctology exams
  5:16pm choggie:

This sounds lile a recording fron the Atari universe...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm Ike:

I like this. Terry Riley is very good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm coelacanth∅:

so far, yes...
  5:16pm Beetlemuse:

aliens are turning people into ghosts! All English speaking people I might add
  5:17pm Fredericks:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm Phillippe Bastille:

We'll see if Irwin speaks English the next mic break. He may be a ghost
Avatar 5:19pm Fredericks:

Not if he speaks Japanese though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm coelacanth∅:

ghosts also have built-in reverb
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm Carmichael:

He will speak English, but with a German accent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20pm Listener Scott:

teen age waste LAND!
Avatar 5:21pm Fredericks:

In order to confuse the aliens, Carmichael?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm Carmichael:

This song is very techie. Mark Hurst may steal it for his new intro.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm Carmichael:

The ghost aliens, Fredericks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Carmichael only if you listen through a coffee percolator
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm coelacanth∅:

i'm learning so much, finally, but i must return the work.

Thanks Blizglog 4248331, aka Irwin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm coelacanth∅:

(TO work...)
  5:23pm Beetlemuse:

Now the kids will want to be ghost aliens for Halloween
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25pm blee:

News Flash:
Taylor Swift and Britney Spears are the same person. (Ghost Alien)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25pm Listener Scott:

That was the album Pete Townshend obsessed over circa Who's Next... resulting in Baba O'Terry-Riley
  5:26pm Beetlemuse:

*Googles yup story checks out
Avatar 5:27pm Fredericks:

Now, like QAnon, we must wait for subtle signs (breadcrumbs) of information leading to the final explanation. The hints may be contained in the musical selections.
  5:29pm flashbazbo:

Is that a box of Taylor Swift diapers? I thought it was CDs but it can't be that. Those are shipped singly now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm Carmichael:

You mean that song "Teenage Wasteland"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm blee:

C# has all the answers.
Avatar 5:29pm Fredericks:

I had forgotten that Dave King was in a band with Grant Hart from Husker Du.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm blee:

I've said too much.
  5:30pm Beetlemuse:

C# or Bb
Avatar 5:31pm Fredericks:

Quite likely, he''s a ghost.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm Ike:

Obscure NYC radio trivia: The New Sounds streams also broadcasts via something called "HD Radio" that almost nobody uses. I am one of probably 6 or 7 people who owns an HD-capable radio and occasionally listens to New Sounds on 105.9-2 instead of the Intertubes. Other HD channels regularly go down and nobody even notices or complains.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm Ike:

*New Sounds stream (singular, there's just one... I think)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm Mister Dobalina:

The Irwin wrap up summary of the K&A show is dead on in 15 seconds or less. A gem in the rough that Irwin.
  5:34pm Beetlemuse:

does HD stand for high demand?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm Phillippe Bastille:

Thanks Blizglog 4248331, aka Irwin.

Later everyone. Have a great evening!
Avatar 5:35pm Irwin:

I like the NSS (listen on Sonos). I can take about 75% of Schaffer's music, tho not necessarily for intent listening.
  5:38pm Beetlemuse:

whats in the box billy? ---It's a taylor swift blow up doll
  5:41pm Sean from Iowa:

The Taylor Swift box is just advertising Amazon is doing for her new album. It's kinda the opposite of descreet packaging. Like no matter what your ordering it will come in a package that's sure to embarrass you to your punk rock neighbors.
  5:42pm Beetlemuse:

true that sean!
Avatar 5:42pm Irwin:

Wait'll you see the Cecil Taylor Swift box!
  5:43pm Beetlemuse:

now I can't UN see it
Avatar 5:44pm Fredericks:

Someone I know is going hear this Sam Kulik song.
Avatar 5:44pm Fredericks:
