my daughter's reaction upon looking at the painting:
"That's really weird."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm Phillippe Bastille:

Hi Irwin. You're playing another of my faves, Temples!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm blee:

Call me a softy, but I love a good flesh tone castle.

Hubig: I would hand that painting over the headboard of the bed in my guest room.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm Asheville Jon:

  3:47pm Chapelhillian:

Not familiar with the Mercury Program, but it does sound quote Tortoisey. Is the post-rock?
  3:48pm wfmu_listener_phillip:

77 degrees in the bronx. but the humidity is MURDER! soo sticky outside
Avatar 4:02pm Fredericks:

I was listening to parts of Oh Yeah yesterday. I like Mingus on piano.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm karlward:

Yessir! Ha! Mingus Dew! youtu.be...
Avatar 4:14pm Listening Out There:

@Fredericks: I recently ran across the album Mingus Plays Piano - 1963. It's all solo Mingus on piano, playing his compositions and other stuff (e.g. Body and Soul). Worth a listen...
Avatar 4:16pm Fredericks:

Sounds interesting, L.O.T.. I will investigate. Thanks for the tip.
  4:23pm Listener Robert:

Darn, Bob Brainen tells me he has no plans to return to air, is enjoying time away. His gain is our loss. Bright note: He's considering podcasting.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm chris:

hi, Irwin and folks. suddenly questioning my career path. missed opportunities?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm Irwin:

Start over, Chris. I was broke and careerless at 40. At 42 I was broker but started a career.

Avatar 5:04pm Parq:

I'm a long-time fan of David Garland's work. My condolences, also, on his loss.
Avatar 5:04pm Listening Out There:

FMU can't talk David Garland to do a program remotely? Think of Uncle Michael and David Dichelle, who are remote. Would be great if DG had a program. Entice him with a big satchel of bucks...
  5:05pm natbot:

Garland song is a revelation.
  5:06pm Laura L:

Thanks for honoring the Garlands--and what LOT said--wish FMU could get David to do a program one way or another! It would be so very good.
Avatar 5:10pm Listening Out There:

Even though I'm on the opposite coast, I made a point of listening to Garland's "Spinning On Air" on WNYC. Think I even got the podcast for a while...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm blee:

What a great guitar tone on this Bobby Broom song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm mariano:

Oh man, love me some Anemone, " Baby Only You & I" is probably my favorite song.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm ultradamno:

My aunt is a librarian in Bloomington. She could give Old 97s material for about twelve far more negative sequel songs.
  5:55pm Laura L:

Thanks for a fine show, Irwin, even finer now with Bob & Ray.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm G:

Great show, as always. No pearls of unwisdom from me, though. Busy chatting online with several folks, and meanwhile suddenly had to clean up after a banana tree on the neighbors' side of the fence here in New Orleans that decided it could no longer sustain a huge bunch of bananas, so down it all came in my driveway. Breadknives come in useful for lots of things. Time for lots of banana bread.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm CoffeeBluez:

Haven't heard Bob & Ray in a long time. Love it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm Ken From Hyde Park:

This is pretty good. Can we get a Chris Ellott recording next week?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm coelacanth∅:

Thanks Irwin
  5:59pm tomL:
