If I saw a burning warehouse and thought that the DB’s masters were in there, I’d run into that flaming building!

Hello TOPT!

@Johnny S: Thanks for joining me today!
Avatar 🎸 3:35pm Hoboken Jack:

Hello all! Greatly looking forward to Mr Childish. I had the pleasure of seeing Thee Headcoats at Coney Island High.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 3:38pm lazy rider:

Happy Birfy!
Avatar 3:50pm David Shortell:

With the Headcoatees (sans Bongo Debbie), right, Hoboken Jack?
Avatar 3:53pm David Shortell:

Am I correct in stating that Billy's last US performance was the Buff Medways at Warsaw (in Brookyn) in 2001?
Avatar 3:54pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

@David Shortell: I think that's correct.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Todd and fellow listeners. Just call in to say I'm listening (Netherlands) and enjoying.
  3:59pm CoffeeBreakForHoagies:

$mall ¢hange and I did a 3 hour tribute to him in 2004 and we barely got through a fraction of his recorded work....Lovely to hear him on Todd-O-Phonic Todd
  4:04pm CoffeeBreakForHoagies:

Super version of "When You Stop Loving Me" with
Kyra De Coninck on vocals.
  4:07pm Fredericks:

Second best show?
  4:08pm Fredericks:

When, Jack?
Avatar 4:10pm David Shortell:

1999, Fredericks. The same weekend they played Maxwell's.
Avatar 4:10pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

@Fredericks: Someone came up and said that to me last year. It's probably better than being the best show because then there is nowhere to go but down.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:11pm stephen adams in the uk:

im sure i saw the milkshakes at alice in wonderland in gossips london in 1984,
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm Gaylord Fields:

Billy Childish is a man who maintains that the Beatles hit their peak in Hamburg (which can also serve as a plug for tonight’s Bambi Kino show at Union Pool, for those in the NYC area). I will not argue.
  4:37pm steveL:

Fascinating view of rock history. Hendrix ruined everything. I get it.
Avatar 4:53pm medow:

awesome interview.. he’s right, if u r not laughing sometimes u r crying.. humor helps make the taboo understandable.
  4:55pm Andrewb:

Just checked out Billy Childish's art on the web, totally awesome.
Avatar 4:56pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

@Andrewb: Agreed!
  4:59pm gracegold:

thanks for the word about the show, gaylord
  5:01pm MFlynn:

Quite a guy! Thanks Todd.

Thanks for setting that interview up, great to hear his take on life!
Avatar 5:06pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

You're welcome guys...
  5:10pm Ignore Function:

Yeah, thanks Todd.
Avatar 🎸 5:13pm Hackensack Slim:

Great Interview Todd,
If I finally get to see Billy Childish next year, I will have you to thank.
BTW What time does Bambi Kino go on this evening?
Avatar 5:15pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

@Hackensack Slim: Thanks! I believe first set will be 8:30 sharp.
  5:17pm miles:

I always forget that Dave & Ray both sing lead on MCB
  5:19pm steveL:

Great interview! Fascinating guy.

Killer sets, too!
  5:20pm steveL:

Who solos on Love Comes in Spurts?
Avatar 5:21pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

@steveL: I believe it's Robert Quine.
  5:21pm MFlynn:

Ah.. some Buddy!!!
Avatar 5:26pm David Shortell:

I thought everybody at WFMU despised the Doors!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm mcgreivey:

Great Childish interview. I've never had the pleasure of seeing him live, but it would be great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm Gaylord Fields:

@David Shortell: The Doors wished I despised them. I just kinda ignore them.
  5:28pm steveL:

Watched a 1984 Lou Reed concert, yesterday. Quine on guitar. Fascinating cat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm mcgreivey:

I don't despise the Doors; I'm just mostly indifferent to them, which might be worse. A guess I like one song at a time, but I overdose on two songs. Maybe that's not actually indifference. Maybe it's just a low tolerance.
  5:32pm MFlynn:

Oh wow, what a great Twilley song!!!! Thanks Todd.
Avatar 5:32pm Fredericks:

I'm like Gaylord with the Doors with maybe a little more stomach discomfort.
However, they influenced both the Stooges and Love!
Avatar 5:34pm Fredericks:

I'm like Gaylord with the Doors with maybe a little more stomach discomfort.
Yet I must fully acknowledge that they inspired/influenced both the Stooges and Love!
Avatar 5:35pm Johnny S:

Great interview, great show! Thanks Todd!

Hello, IgFunc.
  5:41pm steveL:

Fake ID is a great song!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm mcgreivey:

I think "Fake ID" is a real boney-fidey WFMU radio hit!

What a great WFMU day! The music has been great, per usual. Good interviews with two eras of chaotic, personally-committed performers (Wreckless Eric and Billy Childish. ) I have little more to ask for.
Avatar 🎸 5:50pm Hoboken Jack:

Cool, FONPR. Send me a link or I'll just search it out myself.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:54pm Gaylord Fields:

And my comment about it being self-defeating for the Buggs to use Raid against the Beatles still stands!
  5:55pm ashley morey:

I think the bass player of the Buggs went out to lunch during one of those verses

Thanks Todd, am I off, but didn’t Billy have a solo painting show in NYC in 2012? Hoboken jack, I was there as well, tripping on acid and throwing wrapped pieces of Bazooka Joe into the crowd.
