I meant clicky starred
  3:50pm JasonInBoston:

Happy booom boom day everyone! That Anita Ward track is further proof that her catalogue needs a bit more delving into. I recently shazam'd a track playing in the background of the "I Am Wanda", documentary about actress/filmmaker Barbara Loden. It was Anita Ward's "You Lied". Nice to hear things she did beyond "Ring My Bell". Enjoyed the whole first set while in gridlock Boston traffic. SBB makes everything better.
  3:50pm chalmers:

@Vanessa and Altman's son made more money than his father for the kick he got each time the TV show aired, even though his lyrics aren't used.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm Michael 98145:

IMHO, the film was so much better than the tv version ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm Paddy MeBoy:

  3:52pm P-90:

  4:00pm JasonInBoston:

I feel ya Tim. Numero just put out the Cash records story recently, which includes the Harlem Meat Company single "I'm Not Gonna Be Anybody's Fool". A lot cheaper than replacing my long lost 45 of it.

I miss that Tower Records in Tokyo. Great listening stations. That's how I discovered a whole album recorded on paper, and made friends with the Bad Plus. Slept upstairs a number of times when I was too tired to make it home, in the all night internet cafe with cubicular lounge chairs and "room service" phones so you could order food to your chair. Good times.

Avatar 5:00pm Alison in London:

Hey Sheila B, I usually listen to your show on catch up because of the time difference. I've been listening for awhile and I love it. Anyway great show. take care :)
Avatar 5:00pm djsheilab:

Thank you Alison in London!!! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm Michael 98145:

DJ Sheila ain't ever gonna lose the magic

:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm Rob Kopp:

Isn't it a big difference when you're doing a show live (where people are dancing and the order of songs may be important) or on the radio (where people are "just" listening)
  5:09pm Jocelyn:

Hi Phillippe! I hope you've had a good week. Sorry for the delay, at the hair salon.
Avatar 5:09pm djsheilab:

Rob Kopp—I'm completely the opposite. When I DJ live I just turn up and play without putting anything in order. But for the radio, segues and organization and keeping a certain melodic flow is SO important to me. Also the fact that I'm jumping through so many genres, years, styles makes it all the more difficult. When I DJ out I usually play 45s from 50-70s so a more consistent sound. That was a long answer!
  5:09pm Jocelyn:

Cheri, I'm never able to catch that show because of work :/
  5:09pm michael z:

I love the texture of this and Someone is a great name.
  5:11pm JasonInBoston:

OOOOH! Nice choice of Barbara Mason track to play! VERY NICE! The Philly Sound!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm Rob Kopp:

Thanks for the explanation. I had no idea and thought it would be easier on the radio.
Avatar 5:12pm djsheilab:

JasonInBoston—I thought you might pop up for this one! :)
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2020 Swag For Life Member 5:12pm tneeld:

As a radio listener, I pay more attention to things like segues and mood I wouldn't in a live setting where I'm moving around. To me both are true art forms, but totally different skills (I'm lousy at live/simply mediocre on the radio.) A great segue on the radio can be spine-tingling.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12pm JtotheK:

I agree with JasonBoston - nice Babs Mason track! (New one to me, I like it!) Hi Sheila, hi everyone.

  5:27pm P-90:

That WOULD be great!
  5:29pm Cooh John:

Your segues for a covers show could be thematic at times and melodic as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm Rob Kopp:

@tneeld. I'm listening in other way. My main reason for listening to SBB is that Sheila is playing a lot new female singers. Through SBB I picked up artists like Natalia Lafourcade, Shavela Vegas, Bedouine that I like very much. I don't care at all about a segue. 2 good songs in a row that are completely different is fine by me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm Michael 98145:

@chiapat, i believe our goddesses mentioned Altin Gün - altingunband.bandcamp.com

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm Michael 98145:

Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2020 Swag For Life Member 5:34pm tneeld:

@Rob Kopp - I actually completely agree about new artists. I listen to SBB for that a bunch of the time. I think a segue isn't necessarily two like songs next to each other. Sometimes the best segues are the most shocking juxtapositions that only make some kind of emotional sense after the fact.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm Rob Kopp:

Will listen to the last 20 minutes tomorrow. Thanks for the show, Sheila. Bedouine was fantastic. Look forward to spring 2021! Good weekend everyone.
