Oh boy, glad I don't have to get up early!

Hey Jherweg! A Fine set before stepping out into the chill for a Saturday night out. Especially this Ruins track.
Avatar 12:14am Jherweg:

Hey stay warm out there Jay!
Avatar 12:25am JakeGould:

Oh wow! Welcome too the cold night of the dark.
Avatar 12:36am coelacanth∅:

same old fucking story about democrats.
...we're fucked.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37am Fox:

Kamala Harris and Cory Booker are too easily seen by the right as Hillary and Obama part two. Even if they WERE good choices, which they aren't, they don't appeal to the other side. They don't take votes away from Trump.
Avatar 12:37am coelacanth∅:

where have all the assassins gone?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38am Fox:

I wonder what the Democrats will do when polling shows that Bernie Sanders is the only candidate that can swing votes away from Trump winning. I wonder if they will fuck it up again, or if they will back Sanders for the greater good?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40am Fox:

Ideally, Elizabeth Warren would win the nomination and Sanders would be her running mate. That's the best case scenario for political unity and beating Trump. Anything else is going to be a terrifying clusterfuck.
Avatar 12:40am coelacanth∅:

it seems like for decades (or generations) the individual democrats have let their egos get in the way of prevailing over the obvious horribleness.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41am Ken From Hyde Park:

I wonder what Putin has up his sleeve this time around.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43am Fox:

Ken - shit.
Avatar 12:44am JakeGould:

I am not running for President.
Avatar 12:45am Jherweg:

@Ken Or Julian Assange for that matter
Avatar 12:47am Billy Jam:

hey JHerweg - good to catch your show and in real time (but not with Bill Maher) - Speaking of political musings and specifically Cory Booker - on a positive note and putting politics aside, his premiere campaign video just unveiled is the first one I recall seeing/hearing with a kickass drum beat track throughout- and for that I am grateful - bring that beat back into politics :)
  12:48am old ERIC thee hat:

This Ibsolete Future is fucking amazing.

Avatar 12:49am JakeGould:

The best thing so far is that guy who heckled the Seattle coffee billionaire in Barnes and Noble calling him a “Billionaire A**hole”
Avatar 12:51am Jherweg:

Oh Hey Billy Jan, thanks for listening , I’m such huge fan of your show! Yes I would go for a series of campaign ads produced with classic break beats to drive the message home...
Avatar 12:52am Billy Jam:

@JakeGould LOL - yeah he totally upstaged him and consequently is way more famous - yet I have not seen what he looks like nor know if he has been ID'ed @Jherweg - I concur and suggest that presidential candidates not speak at all but play musical instruments - and instead of debates have jam sessions
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54am Fox:

@BillyJam - and maybe a dance off round.
Avatar 12:55am JakeGould:

@Billy: Well, have I got a link for you! gothamist.com...
Avatar 12:57am Jherweg:

@Billy Jam , I want to hear the beat from “Hung Up” by Salt in a campaign ad.
Avatar 12:58am Billy Jam:

@Fox - yes - followed up by a round of one on one whistling - one should be judged by their whistling skills and knowledge of songs with whistling in them (there are so many that I have heard DJs do whistle themed shows covering all genres - good shit too and impossible not to whistle along) - @Jake thanks for link - will check it later for the heckler and the guy right after telling him to "shut up" hah hah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58am Michael 98145:

Heh. Just what we need. Another white "billionaire" to tell us what is what.
Guess i'm glad i'm not young.
Swag For Life Member 1:00am sibeliuss:

Always ecstatic to randomly tune in and find blurred and obscured randomly on -- just the best
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00am Michael 98145:

{ Thanks so much for that Jóhann Jóhannsson back there. So glad we got to see him before he passed. }
Avatar 1:02am Billy Jam:

@Jherweg - what a great record that is (Salt hung up) think I might loop it on my upcoming show - thanks for reminding me of it - oh and your show is killer - loving every track so far - thank you Jonathan!
Avatar 1:07am slugluv1313:

Good Evening, Jonathan and everyone!
very cool surprise to hear you tonight -- thoroughly enjoying these lovely sounds!
Avatar 1:09am Jherweg:

That salt track is always on those worlds rarest funk 45s comps , do you know anyone who actually owns the original?
Avatar 1:12am northguineahills:

tonal poetry at it's pharolarynxal finest!

Avatar 1:20am northguineahills:

I didn't know Johann Johannsson passed, the rec of his I got was in Reykjavik.... RIP, danks for the info, Michael!
Avatar 1:20am Jherweg:

Sorry as soon as some one starts making swastika’s in the comments is when they get blocked...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22am Fox:

Yeah, I didn't understand what that meant, but swastikas are never a good sign.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24am Ken From Hyde Park:

Yeah, that popped up on Rob's show earlier this evening.
Avatar 1:29am coelacanth∅:

anyone with a brain knows better
Avatar 1:29am northguineahills:

TBH, they were mirror image swastikas, usually found in Sanskrit and Tibetan/Bhutanese imagery, but taken out of context, w/ no other explanation, it'd just someone trying to be edgy is my guess. (I approve of Jonathan's mod action).
Avatar 1:31am northguineahills:

(and as everyone knows here, my hipness cred is so edgy, it's spherical)

Nemecek, new to me!
Avatar 1:31am Billy Jam:

@Jherweg - bet Mr Fine Wine has original of that 7" - Oh and since I just got off long phone conversation I totally missed that swastika commenter - WTF? - and to read from Ken Hyde Park that they pulled same dumb shit earlier during Rob's show - make a note of their ISP and pass along to Ken, if Rob has not already done so -
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33am chresti:

It is good and weird, so enjoying!
Avatar 1:33am coelacanth∅:

ngh i figured that actually but, still, Fuck that asshole. as i said, anyone with a brain knows better.
(no offense to others with no brain that aren't completely insensitive)
Avatar 1:33am northguineahills:

That poster usually just posts ascii meme texts unrelated to any conversation. But reverse swastikas w/o context, is tre fucked....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36am chresti:

Absolutely must be removed!
Avatar 1:39am Jherweg:

I nixed it as soon as I saw it .. I’ll go into the Kenzo after my show and pass the IP on to Ken.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39am chresti:

When I first saw experimental/sound performances, I was surprised how everyone is sitting down and very quiet
Avatar 1:40am northguineahills:

I've seen Wolf Eyes many times, but the best was when they played at Pioneer Works in Red Hook. It was like Merzbow playing barbituated techno w/ heavy bass....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41am osvi:

People be trippin'. Yo, great show, Jonathan Herweg, nice to hear ya. Perfect for this stormy ass weather here in the NorCal. Glad I stayed in.
Avatar 1:41am northguineahills:

@chresti: If I'm not lying down, I'm downing a pint, or hitting a spliff (at said shows), sometimes I "dance".
Avatar 1:46am Jherweg:

Oh yeah I was at that pioneer works show.. it’s even better with Dilloway.
John Olsen was doing some Don Cherry on acid shit this past Thursday in Brooklyn .
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07am Fox:

I mis Tonic.
Avatar 2:10am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Hooray for all this
Avatar 2:11am coelacanth∅:

it's an old tactic. kiss did it. they (the corporation) pretended that they were really popular and lied about record sales and such and the children and childlike of the upsa fell for it, bought that crap to be doing what they figured the others were doing, and kiss made a fortune; despite very obviously completely sucking.
Avatar 2:12am coelacanth∅:

(*upsa = united police states of america)
  2:16am JakeGould:

Welp, I wish I went to Tonic. Iris records is closing mid-February. And Saint Mark’s Comics is closing. @Fox Told you about the details, but I won’t miss that place.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21am chresti:

My son and his partner like to camp in the Sierras
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22am chresti:

This is so good!
Avatar 2:27am coelacanth∅:

ah, that was over 150 years ago. people have evolved so much since then.
Avatar 2:37am Jherweg:

I realize I played this on my last show but it was so damn good I wanted to hear it again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41am chresti:

I'm all for it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43am kimgland:

great show...
Avatar 2:46am Jherweg:

Thanks for tuning in everyone , it was fun playing music for you !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47am chresti:

I'm fading out, must slowly back away from the comment area, Good night folks, and thank you for a gold star show Jherweg!
Avatar 2:54am coelacanth∅:

Thanks Jonathan stay strong everyone
  2:57am îke:
