Hello, Pseu and everyone!
  12:12pm John from Florham Park:

Hey krys
Avatar 12:13pm James Douglas:

I would like to challenge you on last week’s playing of Zebra, when you mentioned that somebody from Zebra was brother to Jon Anderson of Yes. Zebra is from New Orleans, Jon from England. Were they separated at birth? Or did I hear wrong? Oh, and hello!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm dale:

i was googling zebra and yes. twin sons of different mothers maybe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Cmurtha:

Hello everyone.
  12:17pm Websie:

Warm thoughts to Hookers in the path of the polar vortex
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm chris_in_space:

Whoa, new Tobin Sprout? Haven't heard this one before. Lovin' it.
Avatar 12:18pm Pseu Braun:

If i recall I also said Ian Anderson was related to them
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Kat in Chicago:

thanx Websie. I'm not high enough on my employer's foodchain to work from home and I'm required to come in tomorrow. Got my layers ready.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm Carmichael:

They were a cover band that played lots of Tull, Yes and Zep. They did a cruise ship thing with Yes and a bunch of other similar artists.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Carmichael:

Kat, your employer values you in ways that cannot be expressed in money.
  12:21pm John from Florham Park:

@kat be safe tomorrow with that wicked weather
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm chris_in_space:

The new White Fence album is gloriously weird. This is one of the straighter tracks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm heyitschris:

@chris just ordered it based on this track (and liking the other records.) Can't wait!
  12:23pm adrian in mpls:

this Presley track has a Mayo Thompson vibe
Avatar 12:25pm Itzall Ablurr:

6º of Jethro Anderson?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm Carmichael:

I was thinking Jon Anderson.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm Kat in Chicago:

Carmichael, ha! My employer has been trying to make me miserable enough to quit for years now. I'm just hanging on to collect my bonus in February and then I'm out ASAP, even if I have to take a pay cut and move in with a roommate (shudder)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm Carmichael:

And that little asian boy who sings for Journey.
Avatar 12:26pm Itzall Ablurr:

I'm thinking of a number between 6 and 12.
  12:27pm John from Florham Park:

@kat do what you have to do to keep your sanity
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm Hughie Considine:

Ian and Jon were fond of tunics.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm ChrisB.:

I'm hearing an awful lot of things I like in this Tallies song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm chris_in_space:

@heyitschris my favourite WF album is the first, S/T one. That's a helluva records. Also, Cyclops Reap.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm heyitschris:

Cyclops Reap is mine. Hope he comes to Raleigh. I miss so many great tours now that I left the tri-state area.
  12:30pm John from Florham Park:

@chrisb I just put the tallies song on my Spotify playlist
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Krys O.:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm dale:

at least you weren't stuck in n elevator for 3 days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm adampsyche:

Avatar 12:33pm Jeff Moore:

We need one of those creepy stair-climbing military robots!
  12:33pm John from Florham Park:

Oh god dale I heard that on WCBS driving around yesterday
  12:34pm John from Florham Park:

Pseu thanks for leading us down the garden path(G)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Panda Penguin:

Corporate is the best show on television right now. Last week's episode was almost unbearably relatable - stupidly went home before going to a show, and despite spending £20 on a ticket, it still took all of my energy to bother going out again.
Avatar 12:35pm James Douglas:

I see. All a ruse. And I lost about 15 minutes of my life "refudiating" that balderdash.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Panda Penguin:

Which is troubling, because it was a Friday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm dale:

when you own a whole building as a single family home and have an elevator then give the help the keys. or at least put a panic button in it.
  12:39pm John from Florham Park:

@dale maybe they want to keep the help from making off with silverware
  12:39pm cluebucket:

track 6 on hosono house is パーティー ("Pātī") but that's the transliteration of the word "Party" :-D
Avatar 12:41pm leylou:

"Corporate" yes ! it is so good but/and terrifies me to my gut. except that latest episode which made me angry - for the right reasons. which is why it's my favourite.
and "Broad City" <3 <3
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm Mister Dobalina:

@John from : No need to steal the silverware because this family is so rich that they throw it away after every meal. They would never use the same knives, forks or spoons twice, why would you?
  12:43pm John from Florham Park:

Pseu sounds like you are having a day from hell
  12:44pm SeanG:

i'm diggin' this! thanks Pseu
  12:45pm JakeGould:

An Upper East Side neighbor to the building where the housekeeper was trapped in an elevator for 3 days said the following about it not being a big deal, “Humans can last 72hrs without water… What she went thru isnt anywhere close to human endurance, but its beyond what we’re used to because we've lost touch with our… strength.” https://twitter.com/josmar_trujillo/status/1089980633047359488
Avatar 12:46pm Pseu Braun:

that elevator story was FKD. Did you see the size of the lift? Barely enough for one person.
  12:47pm JakeGould:

It this news really saddened me. “Mother Carrying Stroller Dies After Fall Down Midtown Subway Stairs” https://www.ny1.com/nyc/all-boroughs/news/2019/01/29/mother-dies-after-fall-down-nyc-subway-stairs-with-stroller
  12:47pm The Donut King:

This show is making my otherwise crappy Tuesday a WHOLE lot better.
  12:49pm cluebucket:

wow that UES neighbor should try being stuck in an elevator for 3 days - and then also work as a housekeeper - and then also not be able to live in the upper east side
  12:49pm tom:

on top of things, the mother was 22yrs od
  12:50pm JakeGould:

@tom: Exactly. Very sad. Watching some try to carry strollers on subway stairs always worries me because of stuff like this. I always offer to help when I can.
Avatar 12:50pm Pseu Braun:

Yesterday's news stream was so beyond awful (horrid pedo story broke in NJ) that I wanted to crawl in a hole. Anxiety x10000
  12:50pm tom:

nice show, pseu
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Krys O.:

Ooh, this is the second time hearing this On and Ons and it makes me melt. Exquisite.
  12:51pm Gary:

Young Veins. Real good. Panic! is an underrated band. My son was a fan ten years ago. Second album is very Beatlesque.
  12:52pm tom:

thank you
  12:54pm KP in DC:

Hello from not yet quite freezing DC, Pseu
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Mister Dobalina:

@cluebucket : You make some very valid points there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm Krys O.:

Sorry for the glitches and snafus, Pseu. At least you're not in my office where there is a underlying scent of dog poo from the office dog who crapped in several places this morning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Bill in W.O.:

I picked up that On and On's rekkid WELCOME ABOARD on the strength of Joe B. airplay, it's great throughout.
  1:00pm JakeGould:

Sounds pretty close to Freddie Mercury.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Krys O.:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Hughie Considine:

Maybe this will cheer things up. I think this was voted "most uplifting song ever" by some algorithms

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm Krys O.:

Excellent segue!
Avatar 1:03pm Pseu Braun:

no pay attention
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm Mike Sin:

Yes, didn't this dude tour with a Queen tribute band or some such for a few years! I always fall for it because he not only has Mercury's voice down, but he gets the phrasing and the "breaths" down to such accuracy!
Avatar 1:04pm James Douglas:

Pseu, An interesting fact. Marc Martel is Freddy Mercury's nephew. That's why he sounds so much like him.
Avatar 1:05pm Pseu Braun:

hahahaaa James
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Hughie Considine:

And not only that, he and Martin Barre of Jethro Tull recorded an album at a Swiss chalet in '72 of Beach Boys covers.
  1:06pm davefromtoronto:

ALSO freddie's buck and extra teeth were implanted when he was still in the womb.

foresight is everything!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm dale:

saw a queen doc on netflix. not a great doc (they would show the same stills or performance footage over and over) but watching him perform was something. tom of finland meets liberace.
Avatar 1:07pm Pseu Braun:

Marc Martel is also a multi-instrumentalist. He's pretty damn extraordinary besides the voice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm Krys O.:

Thanks for playing that, Pseu. I hadn't heard of Martel. Quite extraordinary.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm dale:

had to look up emmit rhodes which took me to a youtube vid and first comment was about emmit being on michael shelley's show in 2010.
  1:32pm Squab:

Emmit Rhodes was in a band called The Merry Go-Round.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Bill in W.O.:

Zebra played at the campaign kickoff rally for John Anderson's Presidential run in 1980.
  1:33pm Squab:

Anderson Cooper often alludes to Zebra.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm Krys O.:

Emmit Rhodes' Lullaby has been used in quite a number of films, especially The Royal Tennenbaums.
  1:34pm Gillian:

Stryper was influenced by Zebra.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Krys O.:

Cooper gave 'ludes to Zebra?

  1:44pm phillippe bastille:

Pseu did you or a sibling play with hot wheels cars in 1969? in 1968, they introduced the Silhouette, which had a bubble as the passenger compartment. did that influence your traffic fantasy?

The French Netherworld AKA The Beach at Calais...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Krys O.:

I saw Peau d'Ane (Donkey Skin) as a kid and that was freaky, but the Legrand music was intriguing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm Kat in Chicago:

Friendly Persuasion is delightful
  1:48pm Websie:

I wonder how Michel Legrand felt about those hilarious lyrics the Bergmans whipped up for "Windmills." ... "Umbrellas" always reduces me to a puddle.
  1:49pm Mary Gidge:

Les Parapluies de Cherbourg. Sad about Michel LeGrande. Ha. Everything scripted. Keep talking Pseu.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Hughie Considine:

@phillippe I envied those who had the Silhouette, but I had the Splittin' Image, which was almost as good.

  1:52pm tom:

@philllippe @hughie there was the beatnik bandit also
  1:59pm phillippe bastille:

@hughie @tom my mom decided to hang on to my set for some reason. handed them over to me a year or two ago. had them in a case, still have the badges. my Deora still has the surfboards. my silhouette is purple
  2:02pm phillippe bastille:

  2:04pm KP in DC:

Are sure now Pseu these are not the Mock Monkees?
  2:04pm tom:

when pseu mentioned the bubble roofed car, it made me think of those old hot wheels
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm Hughie Considine:

Awesome @phillippe. They were really amazing items -- great colors, great names, totally boss. We had a whole Hot Wheels setup in our basement that got more and more complex, and one day my mom tripped over it on the way to the laundry room and went totally Godzilla in Tokyo on our setup. It was a particularly hellish moment. So good on you for having such a cool, non-destructive mom.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm Krys O.:

The tin Rocket Toy Cars from the 1950s had bubbles also.
Avatar 2:07pm Itzall Ablurr:

Hot Wheels nerds: remember, some of those cars (Beatnik Bandit for example) were based on REAL customs designed and built by Ed "Big Daddy" Roth. I believe a "Mysterion" was recently found and refurbished. Roth HATED making those bubble tops, cool though they were.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@phillippe - I remember the Silhouette. I think ours was lime green.

thanks itzall-was going to mention Roth in relation to beatnik bandit
  2:18pm phillippe bastille:

@itzall yep, some of those rarities shows up. there's a junkyard around here that had a McBurnie just rotting away. McBurnie built a couple Ferrari Daytona replicas on Corvette chassis for the original Miami Vice. because Ferrari was fine with those two McBurnie started building them to sell. only made a handful before the cease and desist letter arrived
  2:20pm phillippe bastille:

oops, looks like thered a size limit on the app. anyway McBurnie made a few for public sale but Ferrari cease and resisted him
  2:20pm phillippe bastille:

*desisted damn autocorrect
  2:21pm ian:

I dont normally comment on this show but this set is completely killing it.
  2:22pm Hi from Holland:

  2:23pm ian:

also the comments section is so esoteric. i know what you are all talking about but i was an indie rock matchbox car snob.
  2:24pm ian:

as a child it really bothered me that the daytona in miami vice was obviously fake. i guess if you are on the spectrum you notice all the little details.
  2:25pm phillippe bastille:

@ian they were great when they actually sold in the pseudo matchboxes
  2:25pm ian:

yeah im showing my age. wish my mom hadnt thrown out all the boxes, i kept them.

  2:36pm tom:

  2:56pm JakeGould:

@Psue: Thanks for saying the WFMU chat-comments are not a “safe space.” Bless you!!!

@JohnfromFlorhamPark: I think you are cool. My only issue is when you have appeared in 1,000% non-political shows adjust preemptively posted “No politics!” For the most part WFMU is politics free…Unless it is explicitly a non-music show that has a political aspect that week.
