Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31am chresti:

This is great!
Avatar 12:32am wolfg:

yea quite nice
Avatar 12:34am wolfg:

7second delay was really bad today
  12:34am $mall ¢hange:

ha what happened?
Avatar 12:35am wolfg:

they made fun about metoo then I turned it off
  12:37am $mall ¢hange:

oy. doesn't sound like a good look
  12:37am Fashion Tashjian:

Good morning from Yerevan. Flurries coming down now. Love y'all.
Avatar 12:37am wolfg:

yea they were like really typical u know, like "all women will be up in arms" bc of them
Avatar 12:38am wolfg:

that's what they said
Avatar 12:42am wolfg:

I mean they know .... they have this sort of resistance thing about it ... they kind of brag about it too
  12:43am $mall ¢hange:

yeah Idk. I catch them in traffic usually but been a min
Avatar 12:43am wolfg:

don't you have any rules about sexism?
  12:46am $mall ¢hange:

idk talk to the hosts...one is the station manager haha
Avatar 12:46am northguineahills:

Small Change! Tez-Fa-Zion had a nice soca-reggae sound. Oh, I-Roy!
Avatar 12:48am northguineahills:

I listen to the Give the Drummer Stream when 7SD is on....
Avatar 12:49am wolfg:

yea I guess there are no rules against sexism then ... they sound like old guys .... a lot of ppl on WFMU sound like old man, the Wake and Bake guy sounds very old man-like too
Avatar 12:53am northguineahills:

Clay is aight in my book, Andy Breckman is sort of a fossil, but some of it is schtick. I've never heard Ken be offensive, unless sarcasm was invoked, but he does like to press buttons.
Avatar 12:55am wolfg:

well, what it was he was bragging about being a possible target of metoo ... .it was uhm supposed to be sarcastic and funny but it wasn't .. at least not the latter
Avatar 1:03am wolfg:

and then they keep on lamenting that women don't participate in their show .... I'm not prude or overly sensitive, but it is a bit weird I must say
Avatar 1:08am wolfg:

well I'm willing to end the topic
  1:11am $mall ¢hange:

its all good I just didn't hear the episode...not sure I'm encouraged at this point haha.
Avatar 1:11am northguineahills:

salud y buenos noches, wolfg!
Avatar 1:13am wolfg:

not going to bed yet
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13am chresti:

One of the first Maytals songs I heard was Hello Honey.
Avatar 1:14am wolfg:

no weed in the house!!!
  1:16am $mall ¢hange:

werd not sure I know that one. love their ska stuff didn't get around to it
Avatar 1:18am wolfg:

this sounds like some kind of new school
  1:20am $mall ¢hange:

classic dancehall. those both of the last two tracks Jah Culture played are remixes with Buju Banton on it
Avatar 1:20am wolfg:

a okay
  1:22am $mall ¢hange:

what other shows do you like on wfmu?
Avatar 1:23am wolfg:

quite a few ... couldn't name them all ... put the needle on the record eg is quite nice
Avatar 1:25am wolfg:

I like the reggae show on sundays too ... and those going into soundscapes, improvised music, free jazz
Avatar 1:26am slugluv1313:

Avatar 1:27am wolfg:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35am chresti:

Avatar 1:35am slugluv1313:

Toots' show is sold out -- cool! (but bummer, as i do not have tickets)
saw Toots & Maytals at some of the outdoor Summer events -- always puts on an incredible show
  1:37am $mall ¢hange:

yes he is ill. I'm pretty psyched to go tomorrow, def been 10+ years since I've seen him. caught him a few times in the 90s...he was really great
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38am chresti:

I put up Toots with James Brown, live
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39am chresti:

I saw them in the late eighties-early nineties, in Los Angeles area
  1:41am $mall ¢hange:

yes he was great live. agreed
Avatar 1:43am slugluv1313:

Toots is in his 70s -- DAYYUM!!!!!!
  1:56am icy in LA:

Wat is this spreading love around [stuff]?
  1:58am $mall ¢hange:

love is overrated
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32am chresti:

Thanks $mall change and Jah Culture-enjoyed the show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33am coelacanth∅:

damn, you're doing an all reggae(ish) program and i missed 5/6 of it. shame.
  2:34am $mall ¢hange:

the joy of wfmu archives...should be up by 9am
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36am coelacanth∅:

Thanks. i'll wait for the weekend when i'm home again and play it LOUD!
Avatar 2:38am Diezel Tea:

Sup NGH, coel, $mall ¢hange, and all. I typically loathe reggae but about 50% so far in this set has been rather interesting. Apres axper jan!
  2:41am $mall ¢hange:

haha 50% from a reggae hater I'll take! when you come around there's a lot of classics here!
  2:41am $mall ¢hange:

I mean if you're gonna front on White Mice we're gonna have beef haha. the best
Avatar 2:46am Diezel Tea:

Dub I can consume in droves. But everyone has their tastes. At least on FMU I know the DJ if they're playing reggae are blasting only choice cuts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48am coelacanth∅:

hey D Tea
- yeah my jam is mostly the rocksteady, and smoldery 70s reggae (i'm really not so sure about labels!) but so much so an employee complained to the store owner about my playing too much reggae on the system at the store i managed! (in the 90s)
Avatar 2:49am slugluv1313:

oooooo Night Nurse <3
  2:49am $mall ¢hange:

hilarious on your employee complaining...anyways dancehall is a huge world. so many good records
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49am coelacanth∅:

...but i'm digging every bit of this
- and yes to good dub for sure
Avatar 2:50am Diezel Tea:

oh coel, you rebel))
Avatar 2:51am slugluv1313:

@ coelacanthø -- "smoldery" = perfect description of those grooves!
and same here -- dub hits all the right spots too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51am coelacanth∅:

well a lot of the customers liked it anyway.
  2:51am $mall ¢hange:

always room for dub!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52am coelacanth∅:

ha -thanks slugluv!
Avatar 2:53am Diezel Tea:

Dub takes up the whole room, as it should.
Avatar 2:54am Diezel Tea:

I'm still confused as to why in the hood on the west coast glass pieces are acceptable but in the hood on the east coast it's frowned upon. At least when I used to live there back in the day.
  2:55am BEAVO:

I like the version on Sandinista with a little girl singing guns of Brixton
Avatar 2:56am slugluv1313:

@ Diezel Tea -- yaaaasssss! BIG sound system, fine homemade Rastafarian food, blessed herb . . .
  2:56am $mall ¢hange:

yes I should break that out at some point
  2:57am $mall ¢hange:

night party ppl!! thanks for tuning in. shouts to Jah Culture for killing it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57am coelacanth∅:

DT glass pieces as in pipes? and if so who's business is it what you like to smoke from?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59am coelacanth∅:

oh man.
okay Thanks $¢ i'll check out the archive.
night y'all
Avatar 2:59am Diezel Tea:

Oh, haha, just in the hood on the east coast when I lived there, only blunts or bones, no bongs or pipes. It was seen as "incorrect" as a method of consumption.
Avatar 3:00am Diezel Tea:

Peace y'all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00am coelacanth∅:

and Thanks Jah Culture!
Avatar 3:01am slugluv1313:

thanks again, $mall ¢hange and Jah Culture! beautiful bountiful show :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01am coelacanth∅:

oh DT that's some snobby bullshit! and i prefer a glass pipe.
